SALE STREET A complex site and program presented several challenges for this urban infill residence. The site is 50 feet by 250 feet (15 meters by 76 meters), with a 10-foot fall (3-meter fall) from front to back. It is bordered by small homes to the north and a four-story condo project to the south. The program required a below-grade four-car garage and separate one-bedroom apartment on the ground level.

The main residence has been designed to face an interior courtyard containing a pool, kitchen and deck. In order to achieve an outdoor living space on such a narrow site, the living, dining, office and kitchen are located on the second level above the apartment, connecting with bedrooms and remaining rooms via a glass bridge. The rear three-story structure takes advantage of the grade change. Exterior materials used include: zinc panels, board formed concrete, storefront windows, and stucco.
