HOPE lives

in our HOME

In Uganda, hope for the future begins with a safe place to call home

Our Home is Caring Uganda, in East Africa, is a beautiful country of beautiful people, but it’s a hard place for an orphan to live. In a country of 23 million, one in 12 children are orphaned by disease, accidents and violence. Where there is a need, there are always people who care. Lola Eidse Mugabi (an experienced Canadian child care worker) and Mugabi Rogers (an orphan himself and a well-known Ugandan singer), joined forces to create HOME/Omuka.

Our Home is Safe In Uganda, the word for home is omuka. Through HOME/Omuka, Lola and Rogers enable young Ugandan orphans to complete their education while living in a safe, secure home.

Our Home is Loving HOME/Omuka is not an orphanage. Our house is truly a home, a family of six orphaned boys led by Rogers and Lola who care for and counsel them. “Every boy is quiet and shy on arrival, but all of them have allowed me to envelop them in a big hug and welcome them home. I feel them lean against me just a little – for just a moment – and I know that they have been waiting for someone to hold them, to lay claim to them, and my heart sings with joy to bring them into our house, our home, our family.” Lola Eidse Mugabi Rogers & Lola mugabi

Douglas entered our home in 2007 and since then has graduated from school with the highest marks in Uganda. We continue to love and support Douglas as he follows his dream to become a musician.

Please Say “YES” When you say, “yes” to sponsoring our boys, you bring hope for their future and the future of Uganda. Change runs deep in Africa and your support will resonate for generations to come. Your generosity provides everything our boys need – school fees and supplies, food, regular medical and dental care, access to extracurricular programs and a safe place to call home.

Our Home is Hopeful

HOME/Omuka is a registered Ugandan community-based organization (CBO) based in the capital city of Kampala. Established in 2007 by Mugabi Rogers and Lola Eidse Mugabi, HOME/Omuka provides shelter, nutrition, education and hope for a small number of orphaned boys between the ages of 13 and 18. HOME/Omuka is rooted in the Anglican Church community of saint benedict’s table, in Winnipeg, Canada. Our organization does not receive government funding and is solely supported by donors and sponsors and is governed by a volunteer advisory council based in Winnipeg.

When one helps another, both are strong. German proverb

“In Uganda, there are a rising number of orphans unable to complete their education due to lack of resources, finances, family, and shelter. HOME/Omuka works to provide shelter, nutrition, counseling, and educational opportunities for these less fortunate children. Our goal is to assist them in becoming healthy, independent, functioning adults. Mugabi Rogers For more information about sponsoring a child:
