Preface

ne S um m e r fu n a nd su ns hi

For many people, summer is the nicest season – and despite higher temperatures, the most chilled-out time of year. For us too, sitting here in the depths of winter, reading and writing about the latest styles and sitting at our machines sewing the light and airy summer fashions, it’s always like dipping into another world. Our work encourages us to dream about summer, sun and sunshine. And when someone suddenly asks us if we’ve already baked our Christmas cookies, abruptly whisking us away from this lovely dream, we have to remind ourselves that the question isn’t entirely premature! Let us tempt you with our latest dreams, and help you make your own summer dream come true. Start off gradually with a lightweight shirt or the floral trousers, or more realistically with the jacket, which you’ll be able to wear sooner. Then, when it’s really warm enough, you’ll be able to tackle the summer clothes in no time at all. For all of you not going abroad on holiday this year, we’ve got some fab alternatives for your staycation. We present the choice of two completely different styles, so you’re sure to find something that suits here. Wishing you lots of enjoyment – not just dreaming, but sewing! Claudia Giesser, Editor-in-Chief

Fabric trends – summer 2013 What trends, colours and patterns have we come across for this summer? The new fabrics are showing flowers and more flowers in refreshing, exceptionally vibrant pastel shades. This wonderfully flowery trend is in evidence everywhere. The prints can be seen primarily on coats, as well as on skinny trousers. Other attention-grabbing trends are – still – the fluorescent neons combined with black, 70s prints in bold, wild combinations, marvellous photo prints, especially on jerseys, and writing in all variants with a wide variety of cheeky and witty statements. Inspired by all the abovementioned trends, it’s a cinch and a pleasure for us to create modern styles to match these fabrics and to fill the magazine with a wealth of ideas and suggestions for you. Tanja Gross, Designer
