In Plato's Pheadrus, Plato separates the psyche into three parts the first part – reason (nous) – which holds the virtue of wisdom, the second –spiritedness (thumos) – which is responsible for the virtue of courage/animation, and the final part – desire or passion – which can exhibit the virtue of motivation when balanced by self–moderation. One situation these three parts of the soul played a role in my life, was in dealing with a DSA II homework assignment last Monday. On Monday, I had an assignment on Smart Pointers due at midnight. Around 7:00, I was stuck on an access violation error in the code. I had no clue how to fix the error, and could not find anyone who could figure out how to fix it. At this point, I had the choices of continuing to bang my head against the problem for the rest of the night, or using a late day, go to sleep, and hope I could find some help on the issue the next day. On one hand, I had not used any late days in that class, and desired to keep up the pattern.
In addition, reason suggested that I had better chances of figuring out the assignment if I worked on it more, and that if I had to focus on finishing on Tuesday, it would make it harder to complete the work due in my other classes ontime. Conversely, by this point I had spent an hour or two staring at the issue with at best having figured out several ways not solve the bug and at worst going in circles. I knew that I would be ...show more content...
As Plato points out, decision and action often requires a combination of reason, desire and spiritedness. This can be seen in the situation described above. Reason played a crucial role in the final decision. However, without the context of the competing desires the choice would be arbitrary. In addition, the drive to action or spiritedness is necessary to make a final decision when choices are complicated or make the jump from decision to

and thinker. And the impression you create in your conclusion will shape the impression that stays with your readers after they've finished the essay. It is different from summary. Summary reiterates the main points of your essay whereas conclusion winds up the essay in a clear and interesting way emphasizing on your personal opinion or suggesting a plan of action. It is normally a two to three lines paragraph that makes the reader feel that essay is complete.

Introduction to Asthma
Asthma is an inflammatory disorder of the airways, which causes attacks of wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, and coughing. There is no cure for asthma, but most people can control the condition and lead normal, active lives. Different things set off asthma attacks in different people. Smoke from cigarettes or a fire, air pollution, cold air, pollen, animals, house dust, molds, strong smells such as perfume or bus exhaust, wood dust, exercise, industrial chemicals all can trigger an attack. The symptoms of an asthmatic person are cough with or without sputum phlegm production, Shortness of breath that gets worse with exercise or activity, Pulling in of the skin between the ribs when breathing intercostals retractions,...show more content...
The prevention of asthma symptoms can be substantially reduced by avoiding known triggers and substances that irritate the airways. Bedding can be covered with "allergy proof" casings to reduce exposure to dust mites. Removing carpets from bedrooms and vaccuuming regularly is also helpful. Detergents and cleaning materials in the home should be unscented. Keeping humidity levels low and fixing leaks can reduce growth of organisms such as mold. Keep the house clean and keep food in containers and out of bedrooms this helps reduce the possibility of cockroaches, which can trigger asthma attacks in some people. If a person is allergic to an animal that cannot be removed from the home, the animal should be kept out of the patient's bedroom. Filtering material can be placed over the heating outlets to trap animal dander. Eliminating tobacco smoke from the home is the single most important thing a family can do to help a child with asthma. Smoking outside the house is not enough. Family members and visitors who smoke carry smoke residue in and on their clothes and hair this can trigger asthma symptoms. Persons with asthma should also avoid air pollution, industrial dusts, and other irritating fumes, as much as possible. The complications of asthma can be severe. Some include as Death, Decreased ability to exercise and take part in other activities. Lack of sleep due to nighttime symptoms of dealing with asthma. I.INTRODUCTION
People are the key to business success. However nowadays of business this is often neglected and people are seen to be a necessary expense. A successful business does not just rely on a person's power instead it involves continuous effective teamwork and communication. Storey (1995) defines that human resource management is an individual approach to employment management which seeks to achieve competitive advantage through the strategic deployment of a highly committed and capable workforce, using an integrated array of cultural, structural and personnel techniques.
II.THE ROLE OF HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
Human resource management involves several of practices such as recruitment/resourcing, administration, selection,...show more content...
It is necessary for human resource management to have a proper human resource planning. "Human resource planning involves planning that assure a firm's needs for employees", says Madura. She also includes that human resource planning consists of three tasks which are forecasting staffing needs, job analysis (Madura, 2007). Recruiting and selecting the right employee is not enough. There is a necessity to provide continuous training and development to the employees to be more productive and efficient. With great training, it enables the employees to be more innovative, creative, motivated and thus increase their working performance. Training can be through various types such as on the job training, off the job training, job rotation and scholarships.
Human capital management plays an important role in the recruitment process. It is essential for hiring, managing, training high performing employees. Human capital management is important for hiring the right talent, orienting him/her to the organization, making a new employee feel comfortable, training employees in order to constantly upgrade their skills, retaining employees and making employees self sufficient and prepare them for adverse conditions.

In this paper one will learn the different parts of the brain and their functions. Although the brain isn't the largest organ of the human body it is the most complex and controlling organ. It is amazing how complicated the brain is. The brain controls every action within and out of your body. The brain has main areas that contain different areas that have specific functions. For instance the basal ganglia holds the lentiform and the caudate. The brain isn't just "THE BRAIN" it is actually a group of many parts. They help to inform the brain on the things going on with the human body. The brain is split in to two main parts, the left and the right hemisphere. The left hemisphere has about the same areas as the right hemisphere. The only...show more content...
The corpus callosum is a bundle of nerves that connects the two hemispheres. The area that passes and processes information concerning touch, pain, temperature, and pressure on skin is the thalamus. The limbic system controls your behavior and emotions. It is involved in emotions such as fear, rage, pleasure, and sorrow. In the prefrontal area of the frontal lobe emotional traits are controlled. In the temporal lobe expressed behavior is controlled. The parietal lobe discriminates sensory. The occipital lobe is where visual interpretation takes place. Pons is a crossroad for nerves going up to the cortex, to the cerebellum and then down the spinal cord. The cortex is the outer gray area where thinking takes place. The olfactory cortex receives senses from the nose that it then sorts out. The area that identifies what we see by working out movements, colors, and shapes is the visual cortex. The area that receives taste senses is called gustatory cortex. The area responsible for analyzing data, performing memory functions, learning new information, forming thoughts, and making decisions is the cerebral cortex. The motor cortex is involved in muscle movement. The cerebellum is vital when carrying out complicated, skilled movements. It is much like a mini brain. If before you read this paper you thought the brain was a "one man machine" I'm sure your opinion has changed after reading his paper. It is amazing how god has created the brain to have so many areas

3)I struggled mostly with just the analysis itself. It is hard analyzing other people's work.
4)I will improve my analysis on my next paper by rereading the essay and making notes about the content until I have enough information for a well written analysis.
5)I had questions about the audience of this paper and the reason behind this piece of work. I did ask myself these questions and I think I got the proper responses.

My Core Values
As I have grown as an adult and moved further towards success in my life, I have always maintained a guided structure to achieve goals and tasks that challenge me. I call these my "Core Values". This is a strict regimen or a belief system that I have instilled into my everyday practice to complete any task that presents itself. Although not perfected, I have found this method to be quite successful. My work ethic, responsibility, and my drive to further my education and knowledge have never failed me. Life can seem tough and demanding on a very consistent basis, but I believe that I have cultivated a plan to accommodate and withstand any trial

To build responsibility as a child I volunteered to take care of my family dog. Even though she was the family's pet I took it upon myself to make sure she was properly fed, watered, and walked. My mother was very proud of my new development as an adolescent. She became very encouraging and would come up with other special chores around the house that I could be relied upon to handle. To some children this would seem like a punishment, but both of my parents were so supportive and persuasive that I looked forward to having the gained accountability. My father instituted honesty and respect as monuments for responsibility. I of course struggled at times with taking care of my dog, and handling some of my other chores. But my father always wanted me to not only be honest with my parents, but also with myself. He stated that a lie would not benefit anybody and it was disrespectful to tell a lie. He would tell me that a liar was the same as a cheater, and nobody liked either. If I knew how to respect others and be honest, than my responsibility would only increase. I asked why I would want added responsibility and my father told me two things that changed my perspective completely. First, it was that responsible people always tended to be more successful. Since I had always dreamed of growing up to be rich and famous, I guess I could accept the added responsibility. The second thing he told me was that one day I could possibly

Introduction:
Enzymes are an important part of all metabolic reactions in the body. They are catalytic proteins, able to increase the rate of a reaction, without being consumed in the process of doing so (Campbell 96). This allows the enzyme to be used again in another reaction. Enzymes speed up reactions by lowering the activation energy, the energy needed to break the chemical bonds between reactants allowing them to combine with other substances and form products (Campbell 100). In this experiment the enzyme used was acid phosphates (ACP), and the substrate was p–nitrophenyl phosphate.
Enzymes are very specific in nature, which helps them in reactions. When an enzyme recognizes its specific substrate, the...show more content... In this experiment, NaOH was the inhibitor used to stop the enzymatic reactions. NaOH is very basic and when added to a solution, will cause a drastic increase in pH, causing denaturation of the enzyme. The amount of product formed could be calculated by placing the test tube in a spectrometer after the addition on NaOH. A spectrometer measures the absorbance of a solution, which helps compare how much of a substance is in a solution.
I hypothesized that the rate of the reaction would increase, producing more product as the amount of ACP in solution was increased because more enzymes allow for more substrate to be converted to product. The same hypothesis was made that when we increased the substrate, p–nitrophenyl phosphate, the amount of product produced would increase as well because there would be more substrate that could bind to the enzyme and be converted to product. For the environmental experiments, both temperature and pH, I predicted that the amount of product formed would increase with the temperature and pH, but then begin to decline after the enzymes reached optimal conditions. In other words, at the optimal temperature and pH, the enzyme velocity would be greatest, producing the most p–nitrophenol. Also, I predicted when the pH and temperature Get

Cache
Cache located between CPU and RAM. It is a high–speed memory that accelerates CPU to exchange information from RAM (Shelly, et al, 2008). Cache works in a frequently accessible files and programs in the computer so it can be processed in shorter time. For example, a secretary's computer which used for typing a lot will have its word–processing program opened faster than the other staffs' computer.
Secondary storage * Stokes (2008) states that secondary storage is used for saving files and information in the matter of capacity. When programs are installed into the computer or files are inserted, secondary memory is the place where all the stuffs are put into. It gives information about how much computer can store data in its system. Files, programs, and other stuffs that put in secondary storage are saved permanently in the system. So, when the computer is off, the stuffs will stay at the same state and condition without having any lost parts.

The art of writing is a complex and difficult process. Proper writing requires careful planning, revision, and proofreading. Throughout the past semester, the quality of my writing has evolved significantly. At first, I struggled with the separation of different types of paragraphs, and I found writing them laborious. Constant practice, however, has eliminated many of my original difficulties, and helped to inspire confidence in my skills. Finding an introductory paragraph that hooks the reader can be troublesome, but throughout the course, I have spent considerable time developing that technique. The body of my arguments each exhibit strong support for the thesis. In addition, my conclusions summarize the papers without restating unnecessary information. Overall, my comprehension of the basic format of an argument has proved to be a valuable asset. The weakest portion of my writing is my lack of good proofreading. All papers require a significant amount of proofreading not only for grammatical errors, but also for structural problems. Proofreading my own work is difficult. Many times, I wrongly assume that the reader is able to understand my thoughts, while the various points of my argument are actually not expressed clearly. In some instances, I fail to catch obvious errors, such as sentence fragments or contractions, which I should be able to eliminate easily from my writing. Proofreading my own work has consistently been the most difficult part of my writing process, and I continue to struggle with catching all of the errors in my papers. Analyzing my strengths and weaknesses as a writer is extremely important. Despite the fact that I understand the structure of a good argument, I still miss obvious errors in my papers because I lack the skills necessary to properly proofread my own work. In the future, I plan on spending a large portion of my time

Strong Introductions
How to Write Strong Introductions
Understanding Introductions All papers should include an introduction for their readers found at the beginning of the paper. Usually the introduction is one paragraph, but it may be two paragraphs in length. The introduction presents the topic of the paper and provides the main idea and supporting details which will be explained and developed in the paper. It is essential that all parts of theintroduction relate to each other. Generally, the finalsentence of the introductory paragraph contains the thesis statement. Well–written introductions guide the reader's understanding of the paper. Furthermore, well–constructed introductions make papers easier for authors to write.
WritingIntroductions For best results, it is usually necessary to write the introduction twice. First, write an introduction that contains the components that will be included in the paper. This will serve to guide the development of the paper. Once the paper has been revised, return to the introduction and check to make sure it covers all the areas discussed in the paper. Finally ask, "Does the introduction engage and focus readers' attention?" (Aaron, 2006, p. 6). If either of those areas need improvement, revise the introduction accordingly....show more content... The first and hardest part of writing an essay is figuring out how to start. A professor may give a topic to be written about, but in some cases that may not happen. The first step is to pick a topic. The topic will serve as your thesis. You want to pick a topic that you are relatively knowledgeable about so you are not completely in the dark. By picking a topic that you know even a little about, will take away the anxiety of not knowing where to start or what to write about. If you chose to challenge yourself and write a paper about something you are novice about, then you want to pick a topic that is broad enough to find enough information about. For example, if you want to write a paper about cars, do not make cars what your paper is about, because although it is a broad topic it is also somewhat narrow. Try to broaden your topic buy changing it to, "how cars have changed our lives." Changing your topic to a more argumentative thesis gives you a pinpoint area to write about and leaves the door open to give you more to write about. The second step, and what I believe to be the most important step is locating sources to support your thesis. A researchessay without sources becomes an opinion essay, and that is what you as the writer want to stay away from. Sources make your essay more creditable. If your essay is about "how technology has benefited students and teachers in the classrooms," then you should find sources that are about how technology is used in

Thus the introduction should be comprehensible to an informed layman. It should give enough background to enable him to place your particular research problem in a context of common knowledge and should show how its solution will advance the field or be important for some other work. Be careful not to overstate, but do not neglect to state very specifically what the importance of your research is.
In introducing the research problem, it is sometimes helpful to say what it is not, especially, if it could easily be confused with related work. You may also need to explain the underlying assumption of your research or the hypotheses you will be using.
If the detailed exposition of the proposed research will be long or complex, the introduction may well end by specifying the order and arrangement of the sections. Such a preview helps a reviewer begin his reading with an orderly impression of the proposal and the assurance that he can get from it what he needs to know.
The general tone of the introduction should reflect a sober self–confidence. A touch of enthusiasm is not out of place, but extravagant promises are anathema to most reviewers.
The Background Section. This section may not be necessary if the proposal is relatively simple and if the introduction can present the relevant background in a few sentences. If previous or related work must be
