Alexander Restaurant on the small and charming island of Muhu has been a driving force in Estonian restaurant culture for more than 25 years. The restaurant is located in a glorious light-filled room in the main house and its Michelin-worthy cuisine is very much inspired by the spirit of its location and first-class personal service. The extraordinary hospitality stands for what one might call classic restaurant culture, but in a most innovative and refreshing way; creating a very enjoyable atmosphere. Alexander is famed for its Nordic Islands’ Cuisine, based on a respect for terroir; a love for seasons; and using carefully selected produce from local farmers and hunters. Many of the herbs, greens and flowers are grown in the restaurant’s own Kitchen Garden, or are foraged along the shore, and in the meadows and forests of the estate. Valuing local traditions does not mean being stuck in the past. To the contrary, the Alexander’s kitchen is highly innovative and wellgrounded in its own respectable philosophy.
