New Transportation Program Coming to Walton County this Summer
Navarre Beach Tourism is up! New Improvements on the Beach being Considered!
Commissioners are accepting bids for a new East to West pilot program. Beginning with six vehicles that will be running two routes. One route will be from Miramar Beach to the regional beach access at the county line. The second route from Hwy 283 Grayton Parking Lot to Eastern Lake Road.
Despite the Pandemic that affected us all, Navarre Beach only experienced a 10% decrease in Tourism and the estimates for this Fiscal Year, Bed Tax is expected to be OVER $4 Million in Revenue!
Anyone who lives, or has visited knows how difficult it is to navigate these areas in the busy Summer months. These routes are expected to start up in June and July with the hours of operation from Sunday to Thursday, 9:00 am to 10:00 pm and Friday and Saturdays from 9:00 am to Midnight. Assessments will be made to determine whether it was successful and if any improvements need to be made before deciding to continue this program.
A few of the New ideas for improvements on the Beach have been presented, such as Retail space, a playground and an amphitheater. Santa Rosa County commissioners were excited about the possibilities and ideas after the Director of Tourist Development made the presentation. This is just the beginning of possible new improvements on the Beach, but we’ve got a long way to go before decisions will be made. Stay tuned for future developments! BESTOFEMERALDCOAST.COM | 7
