Spring is on the way! Can you feel it? Soon it will be time to open the windows and feel the fresh air rush in. Flowers will bloom, our days will get longer and our moods a little lighter. Spring is the season of new beginnings and we are all ready for it!
This year, more than ever, our homes have been transformed into multi-purpose pods of learning, working and playing. But with hope on the horizon, don’t you think it’s time to spruce up your space to reflect fresh starts and better days ahead?
For some advice about how to liven up your living space, we talked with Newtown Square resident and Interior Designer Krissa DeGenarro Wichser. Krissa, Owner of The Blue Octagon, recommends bringing in new, bold colors.
Krissa says citrus hues like yellows, corals and pinks will be very popular this spring as well as soft metallic lamps and accessories.
For those who might want to keep their space more neutral, she suggests experimenting with elements like raw wood, which brings organic beauty and warmth to any space. Krissa is also a fan of layering textures. “By mixing linens, leathers and velvets, you can keep things neutral but still interesting!”
You don’t have to do a complete makeover of what you already have to spruce up for spring. Adding color, textures and accessories can be as simple as picking up a few pillows that “pop” and fun accessories at your local shop.
Over at Bunny Hare’s, Owner Anne Marie Hare says her customers are not sacrificing comfort for color. Sales of scented candles and cozy blankets are brisk, but colorful pillows and wall decor are also very popular.
Another easy way to add some color is to paint some old pieces of furniture like Krissa Wichser recently did with a client. “A client and I painted an old pine green chest a gorgeous shade of blue, and then we glazed it with a black wax,” recalls Krissa. “The result was stunning and very inexpensive!”
Looking forward to brighter, happier and healthier days can lift anyone’s spirits. Why not fill your home with beautiful, colorful reminders? It’s time to let the fresh air in!
