I got into this business by way of, what else, networking! I was working in sales at a print company, and unfortunately, my boss had the business sense of a sea lion and insisted on running things like it was 1995. I was frustrated and unhappy with the outdated and overpriced options I could offer to clients. However, part of MY marketing strategy to get new business was networking. I was a member of four area Chambers of Commerce, and two other business networking groups. It was there I met Larry, who represented a company making machines that produce alkaline antioxidant water. Now, no offense to any other MLM or network marketing organization. However, as I’d been a sales professional for 10 years, I had been propositioned by anyone and everyone to sell their product/service: All of the health pills, all of the health drinks in a bottle, all of the legal services, all of the credit card processing systems, the list goes on and on. Something about this water business struck a nerve with me though. I had done some research about giving your body a more alkaline base to help fight off disease. When I found out that this company produces a medical grade, alkaline, anti-oxidant rich water, I was intrigued. I further discovered that these machines, made in Japan, are the only water iozner on the market actually listed as a medical device by Japan’s version of the FDA. I have more belief in this product and what it can do for ones health, as well as income, than anything I have ever sold. We let our prospects try the water for FREE for 30 days. What other product lets you sample their goods for a month? Call our weekly conference calls to listen to the extraordinary health and wealth testimonials from people all over the country. We truly believe this to be the best water on the planet. And we do not want anyone to buy a machine that does not experience life altering results. Our compensation plan is patented. There are no “binary” legs or anything else you have probably encountered upon a meeting with other MLM’s or network marketing. We do not ask you to make a list of 30 people who have thousands of dollars to invest in a “new business opportunity.” How do you get started? Buy a machine for yourself. Experience what it can do for you. And then, GIVE the water away, for FREE. We cannot, and will not, charge for this. Share this water with as many people as you can. Your results will come back to you ten fold. 5

Why did y ou choose Rodan + Fields over so many other business opportunity options? I chose to work for Rodin + Fields Dermatologists because I get to be one of the 1st to partner with 2 of the biggest names in the skincare industry in their “ground floor” company that will redefine the direct sales model. It’s not a party company and I believe it is the smartest, proven business model on the planet! This is a clinically proven product with no competition in an untapped market. I just couldn’t poke a hole in it no matter how I tried. What do you love most about Rodan + Fields? The generosity of the Drs. I have been touched by people that I would have never had the opportunity to connect with. Yes, R+F products are great, but it is simply the catalyst that leads me to such greater adventures. I want a life full of excitement! Each morning I ask God “where we going today” because his GPS is way better than mine! Tell us a little about your background. What did you do before venturing into this business and what made you decide to start your own business? I taught English as a Second Language in Sapulpa, Ok schools. What caught my attention was being first in a ground floor company. When does that ever happen? I saw rare opportunity with a “real hope” for something better. It was exciting, but intimidating. I heard that little voice say “What are you waiting for? I now have the chance to not only chance my family’s life, but the lives of so many others.

The optimist says the glass is half full. The pessimist says the glass is half empty. The realist says the glass contains half the required amount of liquid for it to overflow. And the cynic... wonders who drank the other half. The entrepreneur sees the glass as undervalued by half its potential. The computer programmer says the glass is full-empty. The grammarian says that while the terms half-full and half-empty are colloquially acceptable the glass can technically be neither since both full and empty are absolute states and therefore are incapable of being halved or modified in any way. The musician says he/she is unimpressed with the promoter of the concert for not providing more alcohol. The algebraic simultaneous equation theorist says that if the glass is equally half full and half empty, then half full = half empty; therefore ½ x F = ½ x E; therefore (by multiplying both sides of the equation by 2) we show that F = E; i.e. Full equals Empty! The phobic says yuck, someone drank out of it and left their germs on the glass. The sales person will convince you that even though the glass is half full/empty you are getting more than your money's worth compared to buying a full glass. The full glass is less expensive because of the economies of producing a common standard version in big quantities, whereas the more expensive half full/empty glass represents much better value because it is more exclusive and better quality, and very hard to come by and greatly sought after.

Making Decisions Quickly For Rapid Success By Darlene Willman The constant need to have all the answers and details will prevent you from ever achieving success quickly. If you're in sales, you know that a tremendous amount of time goes into explaining all about the features and benefits of your products or services long before a buying decision is made. Most of the time, people need to have all the information so they feel like they are making an intelligent decision. They research everything, talk to everyone, touch it, hold it and get a sample. In general, there's a fear of making the wrong decision and wasting their hard earned dollars. However, what they don't realize is how much time they are wasting by trying to figure it all out. Hence the term, "Analysis Paralysis" aka "Fence Sitters" who can never seem to make any decision at all, let alone make a buying decision. I once learned that whether you make the right or wrong decision, it's always better to come to some conclusion if you want to move forward quickly. If it's the wrong decision, you can always fix it or if nothing else, learn from it. Obviously, if there is a huge risk involved or a large sum of money needed, it needs a thorough investigation. However, if the risk is low and you can live with losing the little money invested to purchase something, then take a chance. Always think, what's the worst that could happen and can I live with that? I had a big decision to make one time about leaving a company that no longer produced enough revenue to sustain my family. I had been with them for over three years and believed other people would be affected or disappointed by my decision. I stayed in limbo and struggled over making the break for close to a year when I realized I had to make a decision to let go. Looking back, I was spending too much time complaining about it and I wished I had made the decision much sooner. I realized that the only thing that was holding me back from accelerating my own business was my own inability to leave. Give it a try for the next thirty days or so. When faced with making a decision, do it as quickly as possible. Regardless of the outcome, stand strong on your decision. Here's a hint: Do whatever comes to your mind first, it's usually the right course of action! Hi. Thank you for this interview. My name is Danielle Mohr and I am a Mompreneur with SendOutCards. SendOutCards is the #3 greeting card company behind the known storefronts and is affectionately considered the Netflix of the Greeting Card world. All joking aside, this six-year old company can lay claim to making the Inc 500 list of one of the fastest growing companies since 2009. SendOutCards has removed the inconvenience and expense from sending cards and gifts while creating an opportunity to immediately act on a thought or feeling for personal or business relationships. SendOutCards’ mission is to change lives…one card at time. After an introduction like that you might be asking “how do we change lives and businesses?!” Our answer is usually visual as one of us would walk you thru the SendOutCards system on your computer via our website. Trying to put the details of SendOutCards in print is a challenge, however, I would have you ask yourself these questions: (1) “Do you buy greeting cards or gifts? (2) Do you know anyone who buys greeting cards or gifts? (3) “Would you like to make money on the cards and gifts you and others send?” When we answered all these questions for my family, our answer was YES! When my husband & I signed up for SendOutCards, we joined with different intentions. I saw the relationship/care factor, while my husband saw the investment potential. In addition, we agreed that because SendOutCards had No Inventory, No Home Parties and No Monthly Quotas, it was a winning opportunity for our family. Speaking of family, we are blessed to have three boys who are the center of our world. Send Out Cards has given us that opportunity to be more focused on providing quality time & experiences together as a family and by changing our lives… one card at time. When given the chance to walk you thru SendOutCards, you will see how easy it is to send personalized “real” cards in your handwriting, your signatures and your photos from your computer in minutes. SendOutCards then prints, stamps and sends it to a mailbox across town or across the country. SendOutCards is providing opportunities for our family that once were a dream; may we pay-it-forward to you. Wishing you Mohr Possibilities! 12
Over the years my life has taken many twists and turns and I sometimes wonder how I’ve been able to hold it all together as a wife, mother, military widow, stepmother, business owner, community volunteer and now a Granma. By sharing my experiences I hope to touch others that feel they can’t move forward after life got in the way. At 32 years old I had to deal with the death of my first husband and father of our three children then two months later my baby daughter’s cancer diagnosis. Almost two years later I somehow managed to move across the country to Texas knowing no one. Open an Interior Design business, hold positions with multiple non-profits and run fundraisers. I remarried years later and moved to Germany where I created a school volunteer/fundraising program and ran the military community charity bazaar. After 6 years I abruptly returned to Texas for my daughter to receive a heart transplant. Eventually life once again had some normalcy and my husband and I were able to build a couple successful home based businesses. But then God obviously once again felt I could handle more when my daughter died unexpectedly at 22 years old and 4 years later my marriage ended. After returning to designing and tinkering with a couple MLM’s I soon realized I was lacking my passion. But when I saw a post by a Facebook friend about a new tool that would help any business using Social Media I knew I had to learn more. After hearing what Social Outbreak can do for the person that is looking to brand themselves or expand a business I realized it was just what I was looking for. I’ve always enjoyed helping people and this allows me to offer products that will assist any business, entrepreneur, non-profit… to be successful with the power to promote their product or service through digital social networking on Facebook. I love Social Outbreak because it is a legitimate opportunity that will allow anyone to make money from the power of Facebook. ‘Social Outbreak’ opens worldwide in July of 2011 and it is Social Media at its finest. Consultants offer a brilliant application integrated in Facebook for any business. Total Social Media System includes Customized Sidebars, Fan Pages, Auto Responders, Lead generation, Video Email with industry templates, Video Conferencing with document download, Mobile App, QR... Networking and new technology will allow me to travel the world to educate people and businesses on the importance of Social Media and Social Outbreak. Knowing your “WHY” and having a passion for the products or services you’re offering can equal success. www.KatieWegg.com ~ 317 517-5277 ~ katiewegg@yahoo.com ~ Skype @katie.wegg

What is a Quality Referral? First off, it is not a contact, a sales lead, cold call nor someone to have a lunch with! A referral is the potential to do business with someone who needs your products or services and is expecting to be connected with you. The person who has referred you (the referee) should know the basis of your business, what your business offers and trust you enough to recommend you to others. Keep in mind that a sales lead is merely a name given to you of someone who may be useful to you or who may require your products or services. It is not qualified as a referral as this is no guarantee that the person in question is even in need of anything or was not even informed in advance that someone would be contacting them. Get to know those in your network and makes notes of what in particular each business owner is looking for, who their best customer is and specifically what their business offers. And, always be authentic – remember people see right through false impressions! Continue to deliver your promises, pass qualified referrals , set a good example and eventually you will see the trust and relationships take a positive turn that will help boost your referrals! www.PattyFarmer.com

Protecting Your Business from 21st Century Crime It seems like every week there’s a news story about a data breach or a website being hacked. Cyber-criminals have come up with innovative ways to steal your sensitive data. Most companies keep sensitive personal information about customers or employees in their files. This information consists of names, addresses, credit card info, social security numbers and other account data. What can a small business owner do to protect her business from a security breach? Having a sound security plan in place can help you meet your legal requirements to protect that sensitive information. What are some vulnerability points that allow for such breaches? Data Security vulnerability points 1. Hacking or Malware: Unauthorized individuals gain access to your computers (often due to inadequate firewalls or weak passwords) and steal or corrupt data by using malicious software programs known as malware. 2. Employees: Someone who works for you intentionally steals or leaks sensitive information. 3. Lost, Discarded or Stolen Paper Documents 4. Lost, Discarded, or Stolen electronic devices (e.g., laptops, smart phones, flash drives, CDs, etc.) One of the most important precautions that can be taken to protect your sensitive data is securing your Windows based PC. Here are some security measures that can be taken to secure your PC. 1. One of the best ways to increase security of your Windows-based is to keep the operating system up to date. Always download and installed the latest patches and service updates for your operating system because these updates will fix known bugs and security exploits. To keep your operating system up-todate, it can also mean installing the latest version of Windows. 2. Any Windows PC can easily be infected with a virus, Trojan horse, worm, spyware, root kit, blended threat or pop-ups. It is important to keep these types of malicious infections from your Windows-based PC. The most common way to address these concerns is to install and use antivirus and antispyware software. Software tips for choosing your software: a. Install an antivirus program that automatically scans for viruses when the system boots. b. The software should update at a minimum of daily to provide updates for the latest threats. c. Setup the software to do a daily deep scan to check for security threats. 3. A firewall can help prevent unauthorized access to or from a private network. Firewalls can be implemented in both hardware and/ or a combination of both. On a Windows PC a firewall will prevent malicious programs that get onto your computer from transferring personal data over the Internet. Protecting your business from 21st century crime requires implementing a security plan to protect your business. This plan should address physical and digital security procedures, data breach procedures, and website security elements. In subsequent articles we will discuss website security and the various elements of this security plan. Andre Ankton, CISSA Digital Security Consultant 214.810.8776 www.Innovarus.com - Powered By

Six Things To Consider Before Buying An Investment Property 1. The only purposes for real estate investment are either cash flow, appreciation or both. 2. Buyer should understand how much rental income can be generated, understand the property tax and insurance costs to determine the net income that the property will produce. 3. Out of town investors must utilize local professional property management. Absentee property management rarely works. 4. Property management costs, property taxes, insurance and interest on your purchase loan are all tax deductible. 5. Hire a property management team that includes a landscaper. Providing weekly landscaping services for your tenants will insure that you have a set of ears and eyes on the property premises weekly. The sooner a problem is noticed, sooner it can be fixed. 6. If you cannot visualize yourself even temporally occupying the property how can you expect anyone else to.

3 Keys to Starting Your Own Business Q: I’m currently employed, but would like to start my own business. steps should be.
I’m not certain what my first
A:
Congratulations on your decision to embark on this exciting chapter in your professional life! Research, planning and networking are three key elements to starting a business that will grow and flourish consistently. Research your chosen industry and also current business practices. Advances in technology and communication occur almost daily. Business practices once considered the norm quickly become outdated as new developments occur. Review web sites and publications of established businesses in your field. Take note of everything from the style and content of their web site to the methods of marketing they use, the number of employees they have, and even their geographic location. Newsletter, blog and magazine subscriptions from industry and business leaders will become invaluable information resources. These will keep you current on trends that affect your industry and efficient performance methods for basic business functions. Put your plans in writing. You can always revise them. When you write your ideas and plans down, they become clear-cut. A business plan, marketing plan and budget are three of the most important business documents your company will utilize on a regular basis. A business plan works like a road map. You set your destination (goal), and then you determine the path you’re going to take to achieve your goal. A marketing plan will help you stay on track with the promotion of your company. It also works well in conjunction with your budget because it will keep you aware of your ROI (Return On Investment). This, in turn, aids in keeping your expenses low as profits increase with targeted marketing practices. Connect with others in the business community and in your profession. Networking with others is an excellent opportunity to learn more about your industry, develop contacts and resources, and solidify your own ideas about the direction you wish for your new business. Each networking situation gives you the ability to learn more, and develop more confidence in your own ideas and goals. It’s important to remember, though, that networking is as much or more about giving as it is about receiving. Approach each networking opportunity with an open mind and an open heart. Move forward with confidence and never lose sight of your goal. Developing and maintaining a business is hard work, but you can do it!

The Perfectionist Trap: Don’t Get Caught! If I were going to give only one piece of advice to someone looking to start their own business (or who was new in their business), I would tell them not to be a perfectionist. I see people getting caught in this trap every day. Here’s what it looks like:A very competent professional decides that they want to become a consultant. They feel like they need to have everything just right before they get out there and talk to potential clients so they spend weeks or months working on their website agonizing over every word, font, and color. They take too much time and the excitement about their new business starts to be overcome by insecurities and fears. Will anyone buy this? Am I good enough? If only I could get this sentence right! THEN people would understand… But it doesn’t really work like that. The key to having a compelling website and message is to get out of your house, get on the phone, and talk to people who might be interested in buying what you are selling. Only as you are describing your services/products to a real, breathing prospect will you be able to see the look on their face, read their body language, or hear what they respond with – and only then will you know what copy to use, how to phrase things in a way that makes them want to buy.
The other huge value of this approach is that once you get out and test, you will clearly understand what your target market needs, wants, and is willing to pay for. This is critical and it may not be exactly what you think. In many cases you will be your target market and you may have a clear vision of what you would want. However, others may have slightly or very different preferences. As well as you think you have researched your target market’s needs, I promise that what you will hear from them as you start to get their feedback will be slightly different and you will need to fall back, regroup, and probably re-launch in a slightly different way. So the real trick to being a successful entrepreneur (or being the boss!) is to launch quickly and fail fast. I don’t mean fail and run away with your tail between your legs. I mean just the opposite. Rework, re-launch, and come back armed with verified information about your target market. Then get back to them quickly with a product or service that addresses their most pressing concerns. When you do that, you will book the business. Linton-Cole Associates began as a group of small business owners and entrepreneurs who believe the backbone of the economy of the United States is built upon small business and the free enterprise system. The economic downturn that the world is now facing is serious, and we believe that government aid alone is insufficient to remedy this. This great nation was built on a pioneer spirit, men and women who had the courage to venture into unknown territory in search of something better. The small business owners and entrepreneurs of today follow that same pioneer spirit. We know that economic growth is born on the shoulders of those of us who share that spirit, not in some backroom deal made in Washington D.C. Job creation and wealth building are the foundation on which we need to build to bring us back to prosperity. We have banded together to do our part to help small business owners and entrepreneurs through this difficult time. Difficult times bring opportunities and we have the resources to help you manage your online presence, to assist in financial planning, to aid in streamlining manufacturing, and to help you bring your ideas into reality with CAD design. When virtual worlds, such as Second Life and InWorldz burst on the scene and major corporations were rushing to log on and claim their space, we were there, doing online virtual business seminars. When Facebook opened up their service from college only to the general public, we were there. While everyone was trying to figure out why Twitter mattered, we were tweeting. Our success with small businesses, political campaigns, and non-profits is based on our desire to be early adopters, willing to take risks and learn by doing in order to minimize our client’s risk and save valuable time adopting these new technologies. When we make a recommendation on a service, it is because we’ve been there, experimented with it, and actually physically used it, not because we read a blog post. When you need to take your online presence to that next level, need help with a manufacturing problem, or have financial questions, contact Linton-Cole. Tested, proven, leading by doing. Michelle Ketterman… A Woman’s Journey to Revolutionizing an Industry After her home was robbed, Michelle Ketterman learned an expensive lesson: without a current inventory, a home or business owner is victimized twice: once by the event and also by an inability to file an accurate claim. After this expensive lesson, Michelle began keeping detailed records of belongings. After seeing her home inventory, others asked Michelle to create comprehensive lists of their things, and she soon developed a reputation for being able to quickly do what others couldn’t do after months of trying. Fast forward several years and Michelle is now known as ‘The Inventory Expert.’ Michelle formed The Inventory Institute (TII) in 2009 as a means to propel the industry forward ethically and responsibly by combining efforts of professional and trustworthy HIPs throughout the country. The Institute brings long-needed standards and credentialing to qualified and ethical providers.
Simple education and training is conspicuously missing for today’s HIPs. An individual wanting to become a HIP must first purchase a package, and then hope to learn the industry second. Michelle offers HIP training that is not tied to the purchase of additional products. This allows the HIP to decide the appropriate software and additional products for their individual business and specific market. Michelle teaches a ‘How to Be a Home Inventory Expert™’ class for $500. Classes are held the day prior to a Chocolate Blues event where participants keep the leads and strong strategic connections typically found there. Michelle also conducts one-on-one training in Dallas for $750. More information can be found at InventoryClassroom.com. Q: What does it mean to you to be your own boss? A: I work more hours than ever, and I couldn’t be happier! If I don’t have anything scheduled, I can choose to garden in the middle of the day. If I am knee deep and enjoying the process, I can work until I decide I am done. Q: What is the best part of being your own boss? A: I answer to my clients and myself –no one dilutes my message or my client’s wishes. I truly love what I do: my clients are amazing, can share my message, and I provide a much-needed service at a reasonable price. Q: What is the hardest part about being your own boss? A: Dealing with others in my field that falsify credentials and make-up stories, or HIPs that won’t let go of old-school thinking that competition is bad. It can be challenging to combat trickery and turf protection, but luckily. Q: If you had to do it over again, what would you do differently? A: That is so easy: I wouldn’t have waited so long, and I would have formed The Inventory Institute much sooner! For a while, I thought I was the only one that saw a need for industry standards and accountability. It is so awesome to be part of a group of top-notch professionals ringing in a new industry with ethics, standards, and a deep conviction that things should be done with integrity! 34
Q: What is the most important advice you would give would-be entrepreneurs? A: Don’t let ANYONE tell you that you can’t do what you KNOW you can – and I mean anyone! When family members couldn’t clearly see my vision, I didn’t share things with them. You know what you can and can’t do, and don’t let anyone sway you. If you can answer this question: “if time and money were not a factor, what would you do with your days?” you are better off than most people, so go for it! What’s the worst that can happen? It won’t work out or you’ll find a new passion? That’s so much better than always wondering or pining for something you wish you HAD done, but didn’t because you let others control and make your decisions for you. Q: What gets you through tough days? A: In my world, tough days are few and far between, but knowing that I help residents and business owners protect their assets from life’s mishaps and get the most from their insurance certainly make those days easier. But most importantly, I have the absolute pleasure of working closely with the best of the best of HIPs! Mastermind Groups, Advisory Boards, special projects, and brainstorming sessions with an amazing group of Home Inventory Professionals never fail to recharge my battery! Anyone that does not have a core group of peers to work closely and share ideas with is missing out in so many ways! Q: What should everyone know about third-party home inventory? A: Beware of anyone advertising they are a licensed HIP – there is no license in ANY state for Home Inventory Professionals. Because the Home Inventory Profession is relatively new, many home and business owners don’t understand that nearly half of the HIPs falsify their credentials. A flashy website and impressive business cards can be purchased for less than $20. Always best to check and double check credentials because you can never be too cautious about who you let into your home or business.

What an incredible journey this has been so far....and the best is yet to come! My background could not be any further from Network Marketing. For 17 years I worked with adults with acquired brain injuries. I loved my work, but it was extremely draining, all my patience was consumed during work hours, little time with my kids and husband, crazy commutes into the city, and overall not very happy. MY FAMILY IS MY WHY!!!! Three years ago I was finishing up a maternity leave, and doing a comparison of the cost of child care vs. staying at home, plus I just wanted to be the one to raise my kids. That is when I joined MXI. I was intrigued by the idea to work the business part-time from home, but still went back to work...Pregnancy for baby number #4 was exceptional since I was consuming healthy chocolate regularly. No pain or numbness that I had experienced previously. I had a strong personal testimonial, and was very passionate that I wanted to share this with every pregnant woman, and the rest of the world. I had decided to take a serious look at the business side since I would be in debt going back to work with the cost of child care, and then life got in the way. Roughly a year ago I started to focus on this. It was the best business decision I could have made for myself and my family, and have not looked back. There are many wonderful people in this business but I am very fortunate to have an incredible team by my side, who do this business with integrity and heart. When they say 90% of the people you will build your business with, you do not know yet...this is the absolute truth. Some of my closest friends I have met through my healthy chocolate business. I am very grateful everyday for all of the people who have touched my life and worked closely with me.
