Mt. Kenya
The origin and meaning of the word Kenya is unknown. It is thought, however, to derive from the words Kirinyaga in Kikuyu, Kirinyaa in Embu, and Kiinyaa in Kamba, all of which mean “god’s resting place.” prehistoric volcanic eruptions (which is now extinct) is believed to may have led to the association of the name with divinity and creation among the natives inhibiting the surrounding mount kenya region. The names of Mount Kenya’s three major peaks—Batian, Nelion, and Lenana—honor Maasai chiefs.
It is from this mountain that Kenya , as a nation acquired her name from.
