things we love
Romantic, fantastic colors. Patent and canvas. Open toes. Things in bloom. A perfect breeze. A brand new bag.
about spring
Heels, slides. One in every color. Stepping out. Getting somewhere. Side trips and surprises. Peace.
JESSICA An interview with
SIMPSON If there’s one thing Jessica Simpson knows, it’s shoes. And handbags. (And did we mention she sings, too?)
Q: There are two kinds of people in the world: the ones who get the shoes first, clothes second and the ones who get the clothes first and then the shoes. So which comes first for you? A: Oh, the shoes for sure! I think they can make or break an entire outfit. Q: What aspect of your shoe/handbag business do you enjoy the most: the design, the production, the marketing, or any other area? A: I love all aspects of the business because each area leads to the next. Design and production, from first ideas to the actual product, is amazing. Then taking the product and marketing it to the retailer and consumer is exciting, especially when they like what you have created. And most important is seeing my shoes and handbags on the feet and arms of the happy customer…it gives me the biggest smile! Q: What inspires you? A: People inspire me – all walks of life with various tastes and opinions. I love vintage, and imagining who wore this dress and how they felt when they wore it. Inspiration comes in many various forms for me. Q: What is your favorite shoe trend of the moment? Favorite handbag trend? A: Right now I’m really into covered platform heels. I also really like
the snake material trend – bags and shoes. And the messenger bag look. I don’t have to pick just one, right? Q: The one shoe you can’t live without is… A: Well, for spring I love the style “Blue” from my collection. It’s a platform slide with a high heel. It comes in the most amazing bright colors, metallic and basics like black and white leather. Q: If we were to peek into your handbag right now, what would we find? A: A mess! Just kidding… I’ve been traveling a lot lately so it’s packed with everything I can’t live without. Q: How would you describe your personal style? A: I think it varies between red carpet glam, jeans and T-shirts, and everyday casual. I love them all. Q: Who’s your style icon? A: I love old Hollywood glamour – the whole Brigitte Bardot period. Her style was all about taking chances and not conforming. Q: If you could design Cinderella’s shoe for 2008, what would it look like? A: Cinderella’s shoe would be the ultimate chic high heel in a romantic golden metallic, that she could wear all night while dancing, and still walk home in afterwards. Every woman’s dream!
