Beverly Hills High School celebrated the 5-year anniversary of its Culinary Program spearheaded by Celebrity Chef Darrell A. Smith (“The Next Food Network Star” and Oprah’s “Home Made Simple”) with an exciting exhibit of food, music and entertainment. The event entertained educators, parents, students and community members with cook-

founded the program as a way to give back to the community. “When I came to Beverly Hills High School, I started from scratch," exclaimed Smith. "We turned the program around and it is now the number one elective – I'm influencing young minds and it's been very rewarding." Smith’s class has served Beverly High undergrads for five consecutive years, becoming the most popular vocational offering in the 90210 district. Entitled “Instruction in Culinary Arts,” Smith’s course provides students in grades 10-12 with a balanced program rooted in both culinary and life skills. While Smith strives to pass along his passion for food, he creates a learning environment that fosters the development of positive self-image and increased self-esteem. The class challenges young scholars to strive and achieve their personal best both in and outside the classroom. Beverly Hills High is thrilled to have Smith—a young chefturned-teacher as part of their staff. “Darrell’s dedication to the proKimberly Esquivel, Rebecca Hakhamian, Samira Tiarraz, Nita Anavim gram is undeniable,” states Beverly Hills High School principal Chef Darrell A. Smith Carter Paysinger. “He came and revamped everything. The program was new, so we had no expectations, but it is now the number one sought after elective. “It is a joy to see students excited about their education.” Besides the semester class, Smith oversees a culinary summer camp teaching children how to have fun while cooking. Mending Kids International “Four Kings & An Ace” Poker Tournament Gene & Nick Simmons
A-listers took to poker tables to raise money for the childrens organization Mending Kids International. The tournament at The London West Hollywood was hosted by Mel Gibson, Gene Simmons, Robert Downey, Jr., Sean Penn and Jodie Foster—supporters of the organization. VIPS included World Series Of Poker Winner Jamie Gold, Madeleine Stowe, Emily Van Camp, Danny Trejo, Chuck Zito, Greg Louganis, Garry Shandling, Camille Grammer, Patricia Arquette, Quinton Aaron, Linda Thompson and World Poker Tour players Mike Sexton and Vince Van Patten. Celebs raised funds for 8 missions to provide 200 children around the world with life-saving surgeries. Mending Kids International is a California-based nonprofit providing surgeries to children in underdeveloped countries, and surgical training to medical staff to build long-term surgical programs; 92% of each dollar received goes directly to helping children. Let The Kids Grow (LTKG) Foundation, a nonprofit organization helping at-risk children held a Gala at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel honoring Tyler Perry, LA Laker Dwight Howard, Kirstie Alley, Romeo Miller, Nick Cannon, Big Boy, Dr. Ralph Mayer and Dr. Shahrad Rahban. Philanthropist and business leader Simin Hashemizadeh hosted and accepted an award for tireless work with children. Performances were by Freda Payne, Cymphonique Miller, Reuben Cannon an auction, dinner and dancing delighted guests. “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with the Let The Kids Grow Foundation’s Percy Miller in supporting this amazing organization,” said Hashemizadeh. “Our goal is to raise enough money through donations and sponsorships to provide after school facilities and medical screenings for inner-city children.” Hashemizadeh is as the COO of South Pacific Surgery Center medical offices and surgery centers in Beverly Hills, San Fernando Valley and San Pedro and founder of Forbelle, a luxurious skincare line. She started WE TV (Women’s Entertainment TV) that is developing several projects. LTKG keeps inner-city youth off streets, away from drugs and gangs serving as a safe haven for youngsters to express themselves with positive energy, after school and summer programs for children 4 to 18. “The Foundation promotes healthy relationships, providing underserved youth valuable life experiences through performing arts, film, and photography. In February, VCA West Los Angeles Animal Hospital moves to a new 42,000 sq.ft. facility on Sepulveda Blvd., one block south of its current location. The spacious, 3-level facility contains nine fully equipped surgery suites, 19 examination rooms, two procedure rooms, CT and MRI, medical oncology suite, bone marrow transplant center, a radiation oncology suite housing a linear accelerator, a rehabilitation center, pharmacy, laboratory and spacious parking among other features. VCA’s new state-of-the art hospital is one of the largest integrated veterinary medical centers in the world, providing all around specialty comprehensive medical and surgical care. I take my dog to VCA West LA, and can attest to its quality and integrity. They have top notch specialists, veterinarians and fees are fair for services rendered. I had the pleasure to interview David Bruyette, VCA’s West Los Angeles Medical Director and internal medicine doctor specializing in Endocrinology.
MN: VCA is an Animal Hospital that encompasses many aspects of veterinary medicine. DR. BRUYETTE: We are a unique hospital not just a general practice or specialty practice...what I call a “hybrid hospital” offering both. We have six full-time general practice veterinarians/specialists in multiple areas and 49 doctors. Our goal is to have 50-55. We employ 150-160 staff, but want to increase it to 250. On the specialty side we have medicine, surgery, cardiology, behavior, ophthalmology, dermatology, radiation, physical therapy and oncology. Specialty services are in-house. Clients won’t be moved from facility to facility; they will be seen by a specialist the same day if that’s what they require. Specialty services are available 24/7 days a week, we never close. Comprehensive care is available for almost anything a pet might require. MN: What’s your role as VCA Medical Director. DR. BRUYETTE: I’m an Internal Medicine doctor and see patients, with diabetes, thyroid, and adrenal problems, but my main role is to oversee operations of the hospital. As Medical Director, I supervise the staff and our Hospital Manager (Rayna Faumuina) takes care of staffing issues (front office/technical staff) and is our liaison to the corporate office. We have supervisors for the technicians and supervisors for the front office staff that report to Rayna. When I started in 1996, we only had four or five specialists, and a couple of general practitioners. Slowly, over time, we have added doctors and services.

MN: There are many facets to your new facility? DR. BRUYETTE: VCA runs a large system of laboratories which is the Antech part of it. We are likely the largest provider of veterinary laboratory services in the U.S. with an imaging branch, Sound-Eklin, a part of VCA providing radiology, ultrasound equipment, and interpretation. On the veterinarian side, many of the images we take: x-rays, CTs, MRIs and ultrasounds are stored locally, but off site, and viewed by a team of radiologists. Veterinarians in the company or those using the Antech imaging services can tap into that expertise and have their images viewed by a Board Certified Radiologist. This increases the level of medical care a practitioner— VCA employed or not, can afford to their patients. MN: Is the initial pet health exam is free? DR. BRUYETTE: Yes. t is imperative to have a solid credit report that is accurate and up to date. As credit restrictions increase during uncertain economic times, each of us needs to make sure our credit reports is accurate and doesn’t contain errors. Your credit history contained in your report is important as it makes up the credit score derived from it. While the report will give lenders, employers, landlords, etc. a credit overview of the person with whom they are doing business, the credit score gives them a single, solid, data point with which to make decisions that have a deep impact on your financial future.

Spread debt around. If you’re close to your credit limit on any one credit card or line of credit, your score will be hurt. Suppose you have three credit cards with $1000 limits, and one is maxed out while the other two have no balances. Credit-wise, you are better off carrying a $400 balance on all three credit cards than keeping one of them close to the max. Even though you will owe $200 more in the latter scenario your score will be better. Having different sources of credit is better for your credit score than having a credit report dominated by credit card debt. So keep the card and or account type in mind when you are applying for new credit.

IT’S OSCAR TIME. Once a year mere mortals get to feel like “one-of-the-gang” when the biggest night in entertainment rolls around. With millions of eyeballs glued to the tube, a global audience of adoring fans can get close to their favorite stars as these cinema icons walk that oh so famous red carpet. Not only do celebs have to look ageless for flashing cameras broadcasting around the world, but have to gracefully dodge questions about the who, what, and why of their lives by nosey interviewers. From the second Hollywood became a fixation in our lives, as far as the general public is concerned, none have a clue where a celebrity’s professional life ends and his/her personal lives begin. What we see on screen is what we envision a star’s LIFE to be. No wonder we get confused when the action, bad boy muffin we drool over in a movie turns out to be married, off the market and a daddy to a nest of kids at home. Or the sexy, kickass, breathy chick that makes a regular guy’s life somewhat livable turns up—pregnant? Deep down we don’t dwell on the fact that what we see in the movies is not real for an actor. Just because movies are entertaining for us does not translate the same for stars who appear in them. For them movies, are their day job, their profession, their work. And when the
movie is done — they go home to REAL life. Nevertheless, I for one insist on maintaining my favorite stars persona of fabulous on and off the screen whether it’s true or not. I think they deserve to be thought of as fabulous all the time. Because they are. They’ve chosen a profession that although lucrative is demanding and unforgiving with fans who are fickle. For who we adore and think is HOT today... we turn our backs on tomorrow for whoever steps up to take their place. On any given day of the week, any hour of the day, whether we are happy, sad, alone or cuddled in bed, we can turn on TV or go to a movie and for two hours get lost in the months of hard work it took for a star to give us his/her best. We can forget about own lives for two hours while watching performances that have an ability to transport us into the thrilling story of a star’s on-screen alter-life. To successfully accomplish this year after year and film after film for any star makes movie-making little less fantasy and LOTS of hard work. MY THOUGHT: each star deserves an Oscar. Sure some performances might be better than others, but no doubt each actor and actress we see on-screen is giving us the best they have and that is worth an Oscar AND deserving of loyalty and less criticism from the peanut gallery. My staff and I chose a handful of actors who continue to rock the world with their brilliance year after year. Forget a “performance” these guys are so convincing that neither they nor their movies will be forgotten. Michael Madsen. Where is this man and when will we see him again? Certainly not a woman alive wants to think of Javier as “off the market” but alas married life has taken our boy away, and he is basking in his daddy-duties (the couple have one child and another on the way). The Canary Island-born Javier (the first Spaniard to be nominated for an Oscar) doesn’t seem to be as interested in quantity as quality when it comes to filmmaking. Being that this color creates its own statement, keep the cheeks and eyes simple. Blush your cheeks with a more neutral tone. You can also try using an apricot or a light pink to add a hint of color. have to be proactive if we want kissable lips! A perfect lip moisturizing gloss is always a must. As long as you have a clear moisturizer for your lips, you can always wear whatever lipstick color you want. So, do not worry about having to change your makeup routine. This is just one additional step in your skincare regiment. It is actually quite simple and fun to make your own lip moisturizer with natural ingredients that are amazing for your lips’ delicate skin. INGREDIENTS 1 teaspoon Aloe Vera 1 teaspoon Vaseline ½ teaspoon coconut oil
PREPARATION & APPLICATION In a small microwave safe bowl, mix ingredients until blended smoothly. Place bowl of ingredients in the microwave and heat for 1 minute or longer if necessary. It should become a liquid. Stir and pour into a small glass or plastic travel jar for personal use once it has cooled down.

BHT: Which filler is best for which area on the face? AF: Fillers are like paint, each has different attributes and can be manipulated differently. Ultimately, results depend on the skill of the person injecting the filler and their experience with that specific product. What is magic in one person’s hands is disaster in another's. You pay for the skill of the “injector” more than the product itself. • HLA (Hyaluronic Acid) Fillers—Juvederm, Perlane, Restylane: Better suited for around the mouth and in the lips because they are clear and have a softer look. • Calcium-based filler like Radiesse: Best for deep injections to restore areas like the upper cheeks, and temples. • PLLA (poly-L-lactic acid) filler like Sculptra: Best to soften areas of large volume loss like the mid-cheek. • Permanent fillers: Should be approached with extreme caution. The lure of not having to come back every 6-12 months can be offset by a lifetime of regret. BHT: Any way to avoid the “frozen” deer in the headlight/loss of expression look Botox can create? AF: When using "relaxers" Botox or Dysport in the forehead/eye area, there’s a fine line between softening and paralyzing or "freezing" the area. Patient expectations or demands is an issue. Some want to erase all wrinkles/ lines because it looks better in “photos” forgetting the other 99.9% of the time their face is “in motion.” Success for fillers depends on the “injector” setting realistic expectations and boundaries for patients. I don’t do "frozen"... it looks bad, and I consider it a disservice to patients.
BHT: What is the difference between fillers and fat injections? Don't they achieve the same results? AF: One strength of filler over fat is predictability. Initially, FAT needs to be overfilled because the body reabsorbs up to 50% during the healing phase. Fat taken from a particular area (ie., abdomen) behaves like abdominal fat while in the face. If major weight loss/gain is experienced, transplanted fat may not expand/shrink at the same rate as surrounding tissue. It’s clear what course a filler takes over it's lifespan. BHT: Aging/loss of fat causes hollowness under the eyes. Which filler is better for that “under eye” area? AF: Underneath the eyes is a very sensitive area to treat, but also one of the most important since it's where most people focus when they look at you. I attribute most of the poor results we see to three strategic causes: 1. Filler injected too close to the surface of the skin. The thinnest skin on the body is located beneath the eye. If filler is injected too superficially, inconsistency shows. 2. Filler injected above the tear trough (the “little valley” under the eyes. There’s no way to erase dark circles/puffiness under the eyes with filler. We can make them appear to go away by smoothing the transition from the under eye area to upper cheek area. Filler extending too close to the tear trough causes fluid to back up making puffiness worse. This could improve as filler is absorbed by the body. 3. Use of HLA fillers too close to the eye. Hyaluronic acid loves water attracting many times it's own weight in water, and holding onto it aggressively. Some patients are prone to congestion under the eye, not knowing it's an issue. If the under eye area gets congested due to hayfever, water retention or sleeping in an odd position, HLA grabs onto extra water in that area swelling up, causing lumpiness or puffiness possibly worse in the morning, improving as the day passes. I use Radiesse under the eyes, and inject mostly deep under the muscle for a natural look in restoring volume to support facial tissues. Radiesse is difficult to master, so the practitioner's skill is key for success. BHT: Some upper lip areas with wrinkles have filler injected that makes the area look unnatural. What's the answer? AF: Your face is a living, breathing, animated, multi-dimensional canvas. A practitioner’s success with filler requires skill, experience and
patience. Smoker's lines are “wrinkles” caused by repetitive movement and volume loss. A new HLA filler BELOTERO targets fine lines/wrinkles and is appropriate if volume loss is not an issue. For crinkling of the lip, volume restoration is the answer. Over-filling lips or the surrounding lip area is poor practitioner technique and/or lack of an artistic eye. BHT: Is there is a way to get a "face lift" using filler? AF: YES, the "liquid face lift". Generally, fillers "fill" and surgery lifts "lift" BUT advances in non-surgical tightening like ULTHERA, never-before-seen-results are achieved using a combination of both. When done correctly restoring volume loss can help lift to some extent. Technique involves fillers in areas where volume is lost. The downside is the face can become “overfilled” weighing skin down. Result is an unnatural look of unwanted bulk. Best results are achieved using filler for each part of the face. A photo of the patient when they felt their face looked it's best helps a practitioner achieve a more youthful look. I work closely with patients on details to achieve a natural, undetectable look and tell them BEFORE we begin what we can or can't achieve using fillers. Americans still don’t recycle as much as they could. Nonetheless, the practice is considered a huge success given that it keeps about a third of the solid waste we generate out of our quickly filling landfills and saves natural resources while generating much-needed revenue for struggling municipal governments. Recycling also helps us keep our carbon footprints down. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency says that recycling one ton of aluminum cans conserves more than 1,665 gallons of gasoline. That doesn’t mean the progression from virtually no recycling just 40 years ago to today’s U.S. average of 33.8% has been smooth. Materials, especially mixed plastics, have proven difficult and/or expensive to recycle, causing skeptics to question the overall value proposition. But well managed recycling systems that focus on profitable resources like glass, paper and metals have been a big success. And why wouldn’t they be, when recycling uses as little as five percent of the energy required for virgin production of materials such as aluminum? Sara Brown of Presidio Graduate School says while recycling has gained great momentum over the last two decades, it still hasn’t realized its potential. “Unfortunately, recycling pick-up services are not cheap and are viewed as a redundant service; extra trucks mean extra cost. On top of that, single stream recycling requires investment in technology to sort the loads efficiently,” she says. “Trash, on the other hand, is far more indiscriminate because everything just goes to one place—the landfill.”
Indeed, some 31 million American kids participating in the federally supported National School Lunch Program have been getting more whole grains, beans, fruits and vegetables in their diets—whether they like it or not. The change is due to new school meal standards unveiled by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) last January, per the order of 2010’s Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act. The new standards are based on the Institute of Medicine’s science-based recommendations, and are the first upgrade to nutritional standards for school meals since 1995 when low—and no-fat foods were all the rage. The non-profit Environmental Working Group (EWG) believes the new standards represent an important milestone in efforts to improve the dietary habits and health of increasingly obese American kids. “Schools’ misguided reliance on processed foods for speedy, low-labor cost production, industry’s $1.6 billion in child-targeted advertising and a lack of faith in our children’s dietary curiosity [have] created a generation of ‘picky eaters’ with dull palates,” reports the group. “With nearly 17 percent of America’s children now clinically obese, and a staggering 32 percent overweight, the time is long past to address the unhealthy food environments our children live in.” The new standards limit calories per meal to 850 for high school meals, 700 for middle school and 650 for elementary and more than double the mandated minimum servings of fruits and vegetables while reducing the sodium, saturated fats and trans fats in school kids’ diets. Whole-grain foods, beans and dark green and orange vegetables such as broccoli, spinach, carrots and sweet potatoes have replaced things like pizza and French fries as staple items in schools that follow the program. Of course, not everybody likes the changes. Lunch strikes, Facebook protest pages, Twitter campaigns, YouTube parody videos and other means have been utilized coast-to-coast to voice opposition to the healthier meals. Some affected cafeterias blame the new smaller portions and healthier fare for causing as much as a 70% drop-off in school lunch program participation since the new standards took effect. Psychologists understand that kids may not come around to new foods right away, but will eventually eat them—so the federal government and most participating schools are sticking to their guns. And the USDA says that if a school “encounters significant hardships employing the new calorie requirements, we stand ready to work with them quickly and effectively to remedy the situation with additional flexibilities.” The benefits of the new standards far outweigh the costs. “School meals can help children develop healthy eating habits—or they can prime them for a life of poor health and unnecessary suffering,” says EWG. EWG lauds the new standards for significantly expanding access to and appreciation of nourishing food. Whether they can shift eating norms across the country remains to be seen, but regardless millions of American kids will likely now get their healthiest meals of the day on a tray in their school cafeterias.
Biologists consider the bird an indicator of wider ecosystem health; if its population numbers are healthy, local ecosystems are likely thriving. Brown says that the availability of curbside recycling programs varies throughout the country, as does their success. An example: New York City was a pioneer in recycling, but when the city became strapped for cash, recycling rates fell precipitously to just 15 percent and have not recovered. “New York City officials claim it is more expensive to recycle than to send trash to landfills and incinerators for disposal, and that they have to weigh those costs against environmental goals.” On the other end of the spectrum is San Francisco, which has steadily increased its recycling and composting and is now up to over 77%. Even more incredibly, the city is aiming for zero waste by 2020. Brown lauds San Francisco for structuring its recycling program to promote the desired behavior. “Curbside fees are charged on a ‘pay as you throw’ basis for trash, while recycling and compost are free, creating a financial incentive for following the law and sorting your waste.” Brown adds that programs like San Francisco’s prove that recycling can be economically viable besides being good for the planet. Brown acknowledges we’ve come a long way with recycling, but there is still great potential to do more. A November 2011 report entitled “More Jobs, Less Pollution” by a coalition of groups including the BlueGreen Alliance, the Natural Resources Defense Council and Recycling Works! advocates the U.S. government mandate diverting 75% of our waste coast-to-coast by 2030. The result would be 1.5 million new jobs as well as significant pollution reduction and savings in water and other resources. You’ve heard the expression, “You are what you eat.” And it’s true that what we put into our bodies has an influence on our health, but it’s equally true that what we surround ourselves with impacts our health. One of the biggest discoveries of my life was tthat my personal environment had a huge impact on my health. And by “my environment,” I’m referring to everything in, on, and around my body. In my 20s, I was forced to look at the influence of the environment because my health depended on it. When the medical profession ran out of answers, I began my search for something that would bring me out of a serious and debilitating illness. When I changed the things I put in, on and around my body, I GOT BETTER! Whether we realize it or not toxins affect our level of energy, ability to focus/concentrate, ability to resist illness, emotional balance and more. How long we live and the quality of our lives depends, on the toxins we are exposed to every day. BUT TOXINS ARE EVERYWHERE! Only when we understand the immensity of the problem can we begin to make choices and changes that will restore balance to our bodies and to the body of this planet. Today, we have diseases unheard of 75 years ago —the same period of time when chemicals and pesticides took on a major role in manufacturing and agriculture –the same period of time that processed and refined foods with artificial ingredients crept in our food supply. Eliminating toxins saved my life and it can save or enhance yours. These are the different areas of concern we are talking about when we discuss “toxins in the environment.”

Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu said, “Fail to honor people, they fail to honor you. But of a good leader, who talks little, when his work is done, his aim fulfilled, they will all say, ‘We did this ourselves.’” He made that observation over 2000 years ago. Some things never change.
Good leaders really listen to the people who work for them. Good leaders pay attention to what people are telling them and take it very seriously.
Good Leaders Bring Out The Best In Employees It’s an election year, and one of the great privileges we have in America is selecting our leaders. While we have widely varied opinions of who should win, the fundamental characteristics of good leadership remain constant. A sociology professor from one of the country's major universities spent his life studying leadership by tracing the careers of 5,000 former students. When he was asked how you spot a leader he said, “I have come to the conclusion that the only way one can determine a leader is to look at the person and see if anyone is following.” Leadership is a difficult skill to measure. But it is certainly easy to determine when leadership is not present in an organization. In four years of executive seminars conducted by Santa Clara University and the Tom Peters Group/Learning Systems, more than 5,200 senior managers were asked to describe the characteristics they most admire in a leader. Here are the top 10 characteristics, as reported in Management Review magazine: honest, competent, forward-looking, inspiring, intelligent, fair-minded, broad-minded, courageous, straightforward and imaginative. Three of these characteristics are particularly significant in my opinion: forward-looking, inspiring and courageous. All of the others are necessary ingredients not only for an effective leader, but also for every employee.

Warren Bennis spent much of his life researching leadership and has written several books on the subject of what makes leaders. Warren is a Distinguished Professor of Business Administration and the founding chairman of The Leadership Institute at the University of Southern California, which I had the honor of serving on the board. In 2007, Business Week magazine called him one of the ten business school professors who have had the greatest influence on business thinking. Bennis traveled around the country spending time with ninety of the most effective and successful leaders in the nation – 60 from corporations and 30 from the public sector. His goal was to find these leaders’ common traits. At first, he had trouble pinpointing any common traits, for the leaders were more diverse than he had expected. But he later wrote: “I was finally able to come to conclusions, of which perhaps the most important is the distinction between leaders and managers. Leaders are people who do the right thing; managers are people who do things right. Both roles are crucial, but they differ profoundly. I often observe people in top positions doing the wrong thing well,” he wrote in his book, “Why Leaders Can't Lead.” I tend to think of the differences between leaders and managers as the difference between those who master the context within which they operate and those who surrender to it. There are other differ-
ences, as well, and they are enormous and crucial. Bennis details them in his book, “On Becoming A Leader,” and they include:

FOOD To Cope?
WHY DO WE EAT ? Most of us eat because we are physically hungry, but some of us eat because we are emotionally hungry. When we are physically hungry, food satisfies our need generally at breakfast, later at lunch and in the evening at dinner. Once we have eaten because we are physically hungry, the urge to eat goes away and we move on to other things.
EMOTIONAL HUNGER When we are emotionally hungry, no amount of food can satisfy us because it’s not a “burger” we crave. It’s something else. Emotional hunger is about feelings. When we are emotional hungry we may be misunderstood, hurt, angry, depressed or stressed. When we feel misunderstood food is not going to help, but feeling heard may. When we are angry, a tub of ice cream won’t fix the problem, but a straightforward conversation may. You can end emotional eating by differentiating physical hunger from emotional hunger addressing each appropriately. Eat when you are physically hungry and deal with your emotions when you are emotionally hungry.

Step 1: Identify Your Personal Hunger Signals Each of us knows when we are hungry. Our bodies are programmed to identify hunger and get our attention. Identify your personal signals for hunger. For some it’s a growling in the stomach. For others tightness in the throat, a headache, light-headedness or lack of concentration. Find yours. Identify it. Befriend it. Knowing when you are physically hungry is your best weapon in overcoming emotional overeating. Step 2: Eat Without Distraction Once you have identified that you are physically hungry, the next step is to eat without distraction. The reason to eat without distraction is that it gets you back in touch with your body and its physical sensations. When you are in touch with your body, you will be able to distinguish the physical from the emotional. This is the key to finally overcoming emotional overeating. Step 3: Address the Real Needs – Feel your Feelings! But what if want to eat and you are not physically hungry? Then what do you do? You feel your feelings! If you want to eat when you are not physically hungry, you want to eat for emotional reasons. It is important to figure out the real need that requires addressing. If the real need isn’t food, then it must be something else. Perhaps you need a good cry, or you need someone to listen to you, or you need to release some anger. When emotional issues are dealt with directly they can be resolved, and the need to eat to cope with them goes away along with that stubborn excess weight.
5 Tips for Overcoming Emotional Overeating Below is a reference for overcoming your emotional eating. Study it. Practice it and you’ll conquer your problem once and for all. 1. Let yourself get hungry so you know what hungers feels like for you—that’s physical hunger. 2. When you are physically hungry, eat! 3. When you want to eat but are not feeling physical hunger, ask yourself: “What do I really want?”—that’s emotional hunger. 4. Identify ways to meet that real need. 5. Do one! Emotional overeating doesn’t need to take over your life. Once you can identify your true emotional needs and deal with them directly all arts of your life will work easier and better than ever before.

CoachArt a Los Angeles based nonprofit offers arts and recreational activity to children or adolescents with chronic and life-threatening illnesses, honored Google/ YouTube Global Head of Content Partnerships Robert Kyncl with the Champion Award at its 8th annual Gala of Champions to recognize his cultural contributions and philanthropic efforts, plus contributions of volunteers Nestor Serrano, 2012 Courage, and supporters. Thyonne Honoree Dean Norris, Presenter Gordon, Executive Director of CoachArt said, "Thanks to Robert audiences around the globe have access to a world of entertainment media at their finger tips. His dedication to these causes also shows the importance he places Jeffrey Katzenberg presents on the art of improving lives. We are thrilled to honor Robert for his the award to Robert Kyncl outstanding community contributions." Kyncl leads a global media platform where online creators push boundaries of traditional entertainment and audiences take charge of their own programming. Stated Robert, "I am honored and humbled by CoachArt's recognition. I take great pride in being able to help others, there are very few things as gratifying as smiles of appreciation received in return." Over a decade CoachArt has brought chronically ill children free weekly lessons in arts and athletics, giving families ‘permission to play’. CoachArt has helped 2,500 children, manages 800 volunteers and partners annually throughout the Los Angeles area. Last year 600 guests attended raising over $750,000 and this year support continued. Robert Kyncl’s focus is to build Google's presence in the entertainment world and oversee content partnerships across the movie studios, record labels, sports leagues, broadcasters, cable networks, talent agencies and new media companies. Robert and his family support the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, St. Vincent's Meals on Wheels program, The Door-a New York-based youth organization, and he serves on the Media Council for the Paley Center. CoachArt managed more than 15,000 donated volunteer hours by 665 volunteers and 78 program partners.
