Delivering a decidedly white Christmas
New Year’s Eve at Conifer Community Park
Conifer Community Park at Beaver Ranch, 11369 S. Foxton Road, will host its second annual New Year’s Eve celebration from 6 to 10 p.m. There also will be hourly “midnight” celebrations, sleigh rides, a bonfire, and food including chili, hot cider, desserts and hot chocolate with or without peppermint schnapps. Skate the Lake
Skate the Lake will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, at Evergreen Lake. Welcome in the new year while enjoying ice skating, music, sleigh rides, food and fireworks at both 8 p.m. and midnight. Free car-seat safety checks
Free car-seat safety checks are offered by Drive Smart Evergreen/ Conifer from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. the second Saturday of each month at the Chuck Ridings State Farm building, 3112 Evergreen Parkway in Evergreen. We can answer questions and help ensure everyone in the vehicle is traveling as safely as possible. The goal is to show you how to use your car seat, booster seat or seat belt in your car. If you are in need of a car seat or for information on how to use the car seat you currently have, call 303-674-9683.

Elk Creek Fire
saw board president Tim Biglen resign amid a recall drive, former fire chief Bill Dolan be accused of fraud by the Fire & Police Pension Association, and animosity among firefighters
and among the board. In the meantime, the board began a search for a new fire chief, who should be selected by February . With Biglen gone from the Elk Creek board, things seem to be settling down, and hopes are high that a new fire chief will help unify the department. Mountain Peace Shelter needs donations
The Mountain Peace Shelter needs supplies such as laundry detergent, automatic dishwasher and regular dishwashing soap, toilet paper, and gift and gas cards. The shelter also accepts used ink cartridges and cell phones.
