1. Where can I find information about BG Futures: Careers, Employability and Enterprise? Student Resource Centre

Located in the Hardy Building Open Monday to Friday during term time. You should take you initial enquiries here.

You can email staff with any careers or enterprise related question bgfutures@bishopg.ac.uk

Online

Go to the BG Futures module on Blackboard or the web page (www.bishopg.ac.uk/careers) for information, resources, news and events.

3. Why use the Services? CHOOSE OPTIONS Resources

Go to the Resource Centre to view career guides, sector folders and information about further study. The ‘options with your course of study provide a useful starting point if you have no idea what you would like to do. See also the ‘Explore your options’ section of The BG Futures web page.

Advice/Guidance

Speak to a Careers Adviser about choosing your options.

Lectures/workshops Attend the various career talks that take place throughout the year to help you choose and plan your career. See the Events page of the BG Futures webpage. RESEARCH A CAREER The Resource Centre contains information to help you research your career. Also go to the Explore your Options section of the BG Futures web page CAREER PLANNING Resources

Go to the ‘Make yourself Employable’ section of the BG Futures module of Blackboard for information and advice. Access a number of useful factsheets from the Resource Centre including: Career Planning and Career Plan for your year of study. Also career guides and books

The Resource Centre holds a number of personal development books, some of which are available for loan.

You will need to book a One to One appointment by completing a form. Collect forms from the Resource Centre or request a form by emailing bgfutures@bishopg.ac.uk 5. How can I contact staff with an enquiry? You can take your initial enquiries to the Student Resource Centre or email bgfutures@bishopg.ac.uk 6. How do I book a Careers Guidance or Business Advice Appointment? Go to the ‘One to One Appointments’ page of the BG Futures module of Blackboard. (available via the ‘Services ‘section). You will need to take a look at the ‘Careers Guidance Appointment FAQS (factsheet)’ to see if you require an appointment as appointments are in demand from students who wish to explore in depth their career options. If you require a Careers Guidance Appointment, you can collect a careers guidance appointment form from the Resource Centre or Email bgfutures@bishopg.ac.uk to request a form. 7. What help is available when accessing Resources? The Resource Centre is always staffed, so you are able to find help accessing the correct information. 8. Can I borrow careers books from the Resource Centre? Yes, you can borrow up to four ‘Lending Books’ for one week. Please ensure borrowed items are returned within a week of being issued as we have limited resources available and need to be fair to all students wishing to access Resources. 9. Where can I give feedback or make a complaint? comments forms: • Outside the Resource Centre. You can either place the forms in the anonymous box or post the forms to us using the pre paid envelopes found next to the anonymous box. • On the ‘Feedback’ page of Blackboard, you can either email the completed form or print out a copy. • You will be sent a feedback form via email after a one to one appointment Complaints – We use the University complaints procedure, which suggests that you initially raise the matter with the member of staff most directly concerned, as most issues can be resolved on an informal level. Access a link for more information from the ‘Feedback’ page of Blackboard. 10. How do I contact staff?
