Mason Espendez

Mi-Kayla is the embodiment of high moral character and honor to her community. Her vibrant energy not only affects her peers but the staff and volunteers as well. Her impeccable communication skills often placed her as the top performer of most programs.

The positions that are good examples of her excellence include volunteering as a judge during the Maricopa County teen court and being vice president of her Keystone Club. As part of her Club Summer Career Development, she was chosen to be the co-manager of the Leaders in Training (LIT) program. Her responsibilities included creating schedules, supervising peers, assigning performance plans, communicating with staff, and providing corrective feedback.

Mi-Kayla is a tremendous role model for the younger teens. She is a very strong person and has overcome tough obstacles in her personal life. Her endless drive, combined with her willingness to try new things shows that there will be no limit to her growth and achievement in college and beyond. Her charisma, confidence, strong values and respect for others will make a huge difference in this world.

Q: What excites you most about the future?

What excites me the most about the future is being able to travel the world and to see where my career will take me.

Q: What are you most proud of about yourself?

I’m proud of myself for never giving up on school, although it got hard over the years I worked and pushed through it all.

Q: What’s your favorite quote or saying?

One thing I always tell people and like to use myself is “To always see the light through darkness.” and my favorite quote is “I can accomplish all things through him who strengthens me.” –Philippians 4:13
