Proud sponsor of Boys & Girls Clubs since 2002.

The support of Boys & Girls Clubs’ programming doesn’t end with high school graduation.

BGCAZ oversees a large scale Scholarship Program, which helps Club Alumni pursue their dreams of a post-secondary education. Proceeds from the Youth of the Year events support the programs and activities offered at Boys & Girls Clubs, as well as provide scholarship and financial aid to qualifying members. Since the inception of the scholarship program, over 300 Club members have been awarded college scholarships.

Scholarship support for BGCAZ alumni

Thanks to The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation, BGCAZ employs a College Access and Success Manager who supports our Club alumni as they pursue their post-secondary education and certificate programs. Many of our students are firsttime college goers and the additional personalized support helps us to ensure their long-term success in their career and academic programs. In 2020-2021, BGCAZ distributed $105,848 in scholarship support for 38 Club alumni who are currently pursuing post-secondary education. Jessica Davis, the 2022 Youth of the Year candidate for the Superstition Mountain Branch. This scholarship grants the recipient up to $40,000 of scholarship funding over four years and a new laptop.

Our education fund

The education fund is an account set aside for our current Youth of the Year candidates to use towards their post-secondary education, including paying for college or technical training school tuition. If the candidate is a high school sophomore or junior, they are able to use the funds for college accredited classes, school supplies, or trainings. The education fund is also available to the candidates who are seniors to help them with other expenses a traditional scholarship may not cover.

If you would like more information on donating to Boys & Girls Clubs of the Valley, please contact us at 602-954-8182 or visit BGCAZ.org/donate.

This year, The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation awarded two of BGCAZ’s young women with the Renee Parsons Girls Leadership Award. This scholarship awards the recipient up to $80,000 of scholarship funding over four years and a new laptop. The recipient for the fifth annual Renee Parsons Girls Leadership Award is Jayna Shafer, the 2022 Youth of the Year candidate for the Louis & Elizabeth Sands Branch. Inspired by the list of applicants and her personal conversations with the candidates, Renee Parsons offered a second BGCAZ girls’ leadership scholarship this year – the Renee Parsons Excellence Award to
