TOGETHER ANNUAL REPORT 2020

MISSION

To prepare young people, through enrichment opportunities and supportive relationships, to be responsible, caring and productive community members.

DEAR BGCG FRIENDS & FAMILIES,

S

ince 1910, Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich has served our town’s youth by providing academic support and enrichment, promoting healthy lifestyles, and offering character development programs. Prior to the pandemic, our clubhouse and summer camps were flourishing with buzzing activity serving over 300 youth per day. When the pandemic hit, the Club’s ability to provide a safe “home away from home” to our children and families became more important than ever before. In keeping true to our mission, our Staff continued to serve our members and stepped forward to lead: • SERVING over 4,000 meals with our community partners Filling in the Blanks, Neighbor to Neighbor, and the Transportation Association of Greenwich. • PIVOTING to a virtual learning model when schools closed to maintain staff-member connections, combat academic learning loss, and provide educational support and school supplies. • CONDUCTING hundreds of family wellness checks, offering access to groceries, technology, tutoring, and mental health assistance to members and families in need. • REAFFIRMING our commitment to creating a safe space where all youth are welcomed and supported by a Staff committed to creating opportunities while addressing social injustice and racism. With great care and planning, the Club reopened on June 29 to host summer camp programs prioritized for Club families and children of essential workers. Hosting a record 10 weeks of Camp, we provided a respite from the isolation many of our members experienced during the time schools were closed. Reflecting upon the past year, we are incredibly proud of these accomplishments. In the face of an unforeseen crisis, the entire BGCG family—the Staff, Board of Directors, volunteers, and you, our generous supporters—rose together to answer the call. More than just a building, Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich is a haven for those who need us most. We are grateful for your unwavering support and belief in our mission, ensuring that great futures start HERE. With deepest gratitude,

Cristina Vittoria Chief Executive Officer
