President’s Note Greetings on behalf of the Board of Directors of the Foundation. As always staff and volunteers are busy with preparations for a slate of upcoming events, supporting the Club and fundraising initiatives. We look foward to the 2nd annual Race for Kids on June 1, 2013, which had an amazing response in its inaugural run and promises to be a great success again this year. We encourage your participation by either entering a team or as a spectator for this fun and action packed day. The summer also sees the return of the popular Jeff Beukeboom Charity Classic Golf Tournament. These initiatives and others help to provide the financial support to the Club to continue the quality and financially accessible programming and services for youth in the community. One important program to consider as the end of the school year approaches, are the amazing Club summer camps. These programs provide a safe and fun experience during the summer break for hundreds of kids in the community. We look forward to your continued support from our sponsors, donors and the community of these upcoming events and activities, which all contribute in helping to make the Boys and Girls Club of Foundation Board of Directors Kawartha Lakes a “good place to be.” Emily Avery-Graves, President of the Foundation

A DAY WHEN ADULTS PLAY & KIDS WIN

Lindsay It is the mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of Kawartha Lakes Foundation to support the aims of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Kawartha Lakes by acquiring the necessary financial resources to meet local youth service needs.

Your Legacy Can Change a Child’s Future

Planned Giving Planned Giving Helps Local Kids n You can leave a legacy by giving a gift of money,

assets, or property to charity.

n You can leave a gift as a bequest through your Will.

Benefits There are many benefits to planning a bequest to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Kawartha Lakes Foundation: 1. Your gift will change the lives of local children, youth and families. 2. You and/or your estate will receive tax benefits. Some tax benefits will be passed on to your heirs. Some strategies for “giving” may bring immediate tax benefits to you. 3. If you make a gift through your Will, you retain control of your assets while you are still living. 4. You can take advantage of flexible options suitable to your situation and that will ensure your wishes will be followed. 5. Your standard of living will remain unchanged.

How Will Your Gift Be Used? Donations made to the Foundation will be used to build on the financial stability of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Kawartha Lakes by using investment strategies and policies that are safe and secure. Generally, donations will be directed in one of two ways:

n To support the annual pledge that the Foundation makes to ensure that all kids will be guaranteed access to the programs and services of the Clubs by keeping fees affordable and by providing subsidized or sponsored memberships.

n To be directed to the long term, restricted Investment Fund

Planned Giving Creates Tax Incentives A Gift of Securities Donate public securities instead of cash to save the tax that would be payable at the time of the sale of the securities.

A Gift of Life Insurance Name the Foundation as the beneficiary of your insurance policy; purchase an insurance policy in the name of the Foundation; transfer a current insurance policy into the name of the Foundation.

Memorial Gifts Designate the Foundation as one of the “charities of choice” when making memorial donations in memory of a loved one.

A Gift of Property Designate in your Will that you make a gift of real estate, jewelry, art work, or equipment.

A Gift of Money Designate in your Will a gift of a sum of money or a percentage of your estate.

Charitable Gift Annuity A sum of money is donated to the Foundation which is in turn secured in an investment strategy that provides tax credits and a regular income to the donor for life.

Charitable Remainder Trust Donate investments or property to the Foundation for an immediate tax credit while the Foundation receives the balance of the trust after your death.

that will ensure the sustainability of the Clubs for the future.
