Manifesto Symbolism

This brand focuses on earth friendly organic tea, and the logo shows this. The logo is shaped in a teacup that is not fully complete creating a friendly and inclusive shape. The dark brown colour palette outlining the teacup is relevant to the earthly nature of the tea. The tribal pattern coming out of the teacup representing steam creates an exotic feel and connects in with larger patter on the box. The purpose of incorporating the tribal pattern in the logo was to represent the organic nature of the tea. Tribes are known to live off the land and use natural resources to survive. They eat organic food and make use of the organic herbs. I didn’t want to overcomplicate the logo so as to not overcrowd the tea box.

Tone

I wanted the packaging to appeal to the environmentalist side of people and for the focus to be on the organic features of the tea rather than the preservatives that normally go into our food/drink products. My aim is for consumers to have a sense of comfort, tranquility when they first see and drink the tea. The feeling of tranquility goes hand in hand with feeling at one with nature.

Style

The packaging of the tea is a modernized and structured. I chose to use this style of packaging to attract and encourage younger generations to purchases the tea. I wanted this product to become a statement piece that could be left on the bench

in a kitchen rather than just another product in the pantry. I want it to be a conversation starter within households, for people to relate with the product and thus becoming apart of their lifestyle. Making three colors/essence available gives customers the option to choose whichever appeals to their nature or lifestyle.

Typography I want to use a typo that is clean, sleek, and legible to fit with the modernization of the product as mentioned in “style”. The font chosen for the word ‘English Breakfast’, the explanation of the tea in the back as well as the ’20 Teacup is modern, fancy yet subtle whereas the font used for ‘Envirotea Organic Freshness’ font is thick and slightly rounded for a friendly feeling, making viewers feel that they can be included in the down-to-earth feel that the name suggests at the same complimenting the tribal patter on the box.

Relationship We live in a modernized society therefore by having modern product; it easily conforms into society’s expectations of how a product should look. By using nature, it is suppose to be a reminder to slow down and take a moment in times life can be fast paced and busy. My goal for this design is for consumers feel comfortable enough to leave the product on their desk at work and to reach for it when they needed a break, bringing them back to nature and giving them that sense of calmness and tranquility. Calmness is the personality I aim to create with this design and to value peaceful moments in life.

Colour

Colors: earthy tones in particular I chose to use shades of greens, brown and yellow for my packaging each representing a different essence. Green (Forest): signifies nature, environment, healthy, good luck, renewal, youth, spring and generosity Yellow (Sunset): signifies joy, happiness, imagination, hope, sunshine, and summer. Brown (Earth): signifies stability, hearth, home, outdoors, reliability, comfort, endurance, simplicity, and comfort. The chosen colors are to relate to nature and our environment with the typo being classic black to represent our modern lifestyle and the sleekness of the product.

Materials

I have chosen to use cardboard box with in line foil material to protect the tea against light and moisture. The in line foil material is also ideal for maintain the flavor and aroma of the tea thus keeping the tea fresher for longer. Appearance wise, it will give the inside of the packaging a glossy, shiny look, smooth feel for a modern twist. I chose cardboard, because it is environmentally safe and recyclable when peeled away from the in-line foil.
