Simbolic Motifs is comprised of mostly bracelets along with headbands and anklets. Simbolic Motifs fuses fashion and pure leather jewelry which allows customers to add their own unique personal touch to each piece or to purchase from a huge variety of different Adinkra symbols that speaks to their personality. My idea for Simbolic Motifs is to create a product a product that combines my culture and fashion, two things that I love and share it with people around me through the leather jewelry. Gives customers an opportunity to combine culture and fashion. Designed with all everyone in mind. Men and Women from all backgrounds, cultures and stages in life. Also available to children ages 10 +. The beauty of this product is the wide range of symbols to choose from to represent personal taste/life situations/personality. Also generally, I believe that people are often open to exploring or experiencing different cultures. Hence why they are likely to purchase the product.

I believe that using these symbols as inspiration for my design allows others to be inspired and for the product itself to become a conversational piece. Adinkra Visual symbols were originally created by a tribe in Ghana, west Africa. The symbols have a decorator function but they also represent objects that convey traditional wisdoms, aspects of life or the environment. They are used extensively in our culture through fabrics, pottery logos and advertising. The symbols that I have chosen are the ones that mean a lot to my family and to myself; symbols that have made me who I am today and represent me as a person. There are symbols that I’ve grown up with and used to shape who I am as they have been a part of my upbringing. The symbols that I have chosen express the journey that I’ve been through in my life and were the inspiration of my designs.

SIMBOL OF CARE Simbolic Motif and Afrikids have joined partnerships to design and deliver programs in northern Ghana, which ensure that children’s rights are better met and they have a greater prospect of fulfilling secured futures. However, these programs require funding. This is where Simbolic Motif can offer their support. We aim to fundraise approximately $25,000 over a 24-month period to fund at least 1-3 programs in Northern Ghana. Together with Afrikids, the ‘Simbol of Care’ campaign we set out to accomplish the objective using media strategies as a platform to fundraise the $25,000 in monetary donations.

FACEBOOK/ INSTAGRAM CAMPAIGN Post daily with “Afrikids” news, events and updates. Respond to comments and interact with Facebook users via messenger. THE HASHTAG (#simbolofcare) CAMPAIGN Encourage Facebook and Instagram followers to use the hash tag (#simbolofcare) when sharing, posting or commenting on Facebook or Instagram pages. This gives consumers a platform to share news about the importance of the campaign to others thus spreading the awareness. A great forum to respond or answer any questions the public may have about the campaign or the charity itself. Instagram is especially useful as a media strategy as it gives Afrikids and Simbolic Motif a place to share photos of work being done in Ghana and their progress to encourage donations. We will also encourage followers to use the hash tag when they post themselves wearing a purchased a bracelet from Simbolic Motif.

Simbolic Motifs will have two specialized symbols that speak of “ help, care or charity” that can be purchased as a bracelet. Below are the chosen symbols and their meanings that customers can choose from. Option 1: Child of the Heavens – Symbol of guardianship

A portion of their purchase will be directly donated to the Afrikids to meet our objective of $25,000. Every time a bracelet is purchased, the buyer receives a free coupon and one extra symbol of their choice as our way to say thank you.
