Welcome to the unbeatable craftsmanship portrayed by the workers at Tambat Ali who indulge in manufacturing of innumerable products made of copper and brass. The various products are designed and devised for several requirements – from aesthetical beauty of tiny brass toys, to the usefulness of the water heater or the bambad; from the essential daily utensils to the creativity shown in idols, statues, bells and accessories; from the uniqueness of the architectural facades to the intricate models. The flower that blooms in adversity is the fairest of them all. The trinket alongside is one that was made by the young daughter of one of the coppersmiths. Maybe the current generation isn’t interested in the craft of their forefathers; but they do have an expression of their own.

Breaking the monotony of only copper vessels, the smiths also make cages for their parrots using brass; a little bit of green and a little bit of gold in the world of metal.

These bulky water heaters have a lifetime of memories. They begin as sheets of copper- muddy looking and crude, are polished till they gleam and most are sold to traders. The ones that remain in Tambat Ali see generations of coppersmiths.
