All good things have endings. But in the Vail Valley, the end of one adventure only opens the door for the next one to begin. So when the first frost graces the high-country slopes of Vail and Beaver Creek, it doesn’t signify the end of summer as much as the beginning of ski season. Winter 2015-16 saw several huge storms followed by steady lateseason snowfall, and the Rockies are primed for another white-out winter in 2017. Next season’s first chair takes off on November 18th at Vail, while the slopes at Beaver Creek will open shortly after.
