During Bayside High School Key Club’s prime time of the year, our home club has gotten off to a promising start! Members have shown support at each event, rain or shine. All Key Clubbers and officers should be exceedingly proud of their efforts; the community service movement only remains possible with each individual contribution. Keep an eye out for Bayside Key Club this service year, as we tend not to disappoint! -Your Editor, Rita Guo

Bayside High School’s Key Club Rakes in the Autumn Season As the autumn season commences, plenty of opportunities arise for volunteers to contribute to the community. On October 19, aka “It’s My Park Day”, Bayside High School Key Clubbers combined their efforts toward rejuvenating McNeil Park in College Point. Volunteers picked up their rakes and plastic bags, and set out for the mounds of leaves accumulating under the trees. “Everyone worked really hard,” comments Brandon Hahn, 2014. “Some members got blisters on their hands after raking.” Key Clubbers spent the day removing litter from the woods and beach, and repainted the playground set. The pristine fall weather is a great time for adults and children alike to stay active outdoors and enjoy the upcoming holiday season while paying it forward. Stay tuned for upcoming events!
Key Clubbers Light Up the Night in Forest Park Glowing luminaries and balloons from within Victory Field could be spotted from blocks away. Volunteers of all ages attended Light the Night on
October 5 to pay respect to those battling leukemia and lymphoma. Attendees call the event “unforgettable” while delivering a powerful message.

Flushing Meadow Corona Park provided a picture perfect backdrop of the Unisphere and cloudless blue skies on Sunday morning, October 20 for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. Key Clubbers and various volunteer organizations met for a three mile walk to “finish the fight and show support for friends and family of those affected. Bayside students cheered on the participants in the crisp October weather, while Key Clubbers went the extra mile to raise support and fundraise for the cause.
Bayside Key Club brightens New York elementary school (10/19) On October 19 for New York Cares Day, BHS Key Club collaborated with the elementary school and painted a pavement mural in addition to an area for hopscotch within the playground.
