THE 1:18 SCALE HOLDEN HZ SANDMAN PANEL VAN IN TUXEDO BLACK Biante Model Cars are pleased to present the opportunity to place your orders for the 1:18 Scale Holden HZ Sandman Panel Van in Tuxedo Black. The Holden Sandman is a car that is uniquely Australian, representing our free spirited and beach loving surf lifestyle that was at the height of its popularity during the late 60s and early 70s. Available in a range of striking colours and bold decal options, the Sandman quickly became a fan favourite for the Australian public and has since become somewhat of a cultural icon, something that not even Holden would have dreamed of when they released the original HQ in 1974. The HZ represents the last series of the Sandman produced commercially for sale between 1977 to 1979. Released with a V8 engine and Radial Tuned Suspension as standard and features such as bucket seats, GTS components including the dash, steering wheel, rally rims and front lower scoop, the HZ has since become one of the more popular Sandmans to have been released. The Tuxedo Black Sandman bucks the trend of previous bright and bold versions that we have released in 1:18 Scale previously. Produced in high quality die-cast with opening parts and a detailed engine, interior and high quality finishing, this is another exceptional replication of this iconic car. As with our previous Sandman releases, we have again added a set of surfboards and roof racks as an optional display accessory, this time with the surfboards featuring striking blue stripes to match the Tuxedo Black’s dark and light blue Sandman decals. Ensure you don’t miss out on this new addition to our Sandman range by placing your pre-orders as soon as possible or visit www.biante.com.au for more information.

Biante News:
A BIG MONTH FOR BIANTE MODEL CARS What a big month it has been for Biante! Hopefully you all saw our Biante Racing Commodore in the Dunlop Series at Mount Panorama earlier this month. These marketing programmes not only help promote the Biante brand and our products but we believe help promote the model car industry and keep model cars in the minds of motorsport fans. Check out our quick Bathurst wrap in this newsletter, including pics of our collector’s night. We have recently released our 1:18 Scale VN Commodore in Durif Red which has been very popular. This was our first major investment in tooling in a few years. While it took a bit longer than we had planned, we wanted to get it right, rather than rush it to market. We hope everyone enjoys the result. We’re very happy with it, and look forward to bringing you more exciting models from this era of Commodore soon. I do now have a bit of bad news, and we have held this news for as long as possible, but we all felt that this had to happen after the release of the VN Group A, and not before. We are having to implement a price rise for all of our 1:18 Australian Models, except for our 2013 Car Of The Future V8 Supercars (B18H13* and B18E13*) Biante have had a very firm belief that the $200 retail price point is a critical element of ensuring reasonable volumes. However, we have been consistently receiving price rises from our factories in China, which for much of 2013 has been compounded by a lower Australian Dollar. While the Dollar has bounced in the last month or so, costs have not decreased. Compounding everything, is the lower than expected volumes on many items, which is mainly is due to the current economic situation Australia has found itself in. So, with all the reasons out of the way, how is it all going to affect us? Well, the wholesale price will increase from the modest rise we made a few months ago for Biante dealers which means that the regular retail price for a 1:18 Scale now moves to $215.00/unit including GST. As I said previously, this will not affect the pricing of our 2013 V8 Supercar programme. Their prices remain a RRP of $150/unit including GST. Moving on, we have 7 new announcements that are now available to order, five 1:18 Scale models and two 1:43 Scale models. Of the 1:18 Scale range, we’re pleased to be revealing the next Sandman that we will be releasing, the
HZ in Tuxedo Black with Dark and Light Blue Sandman stripes and decals which we think would look very impressive next to the brighter panel vans that we have previously released. Our next street machine / custom model will be the XA Falcon in Black pictured on the right. We have been showing this model at a few events recently and the reception has been very positive. Get your orders in for this one Ford fans because the next one we produce will most likely have a Holden badge on the front which is very exciting for us and for the many collectors who have been waiting! We have two Monaro’s coming up soon. The first is the last Monaro to have ever raced at Bathurst - the Holden HQ GTS350 Sedan driven by Ron Dickson and Pat Crea in the 1974 Hardie-Ferodo 1000 and we have a gorgeous road car in the shape of the HT Monaro GTS350 Coupe in the rare Warrigal Black with Gold Stripes colour scheme featuring the impressive Houndstooth Interior. Staying on the Holden theme is a new model from the lion’s den that might excite a few fans. We’re pleased to announce the Holden VK Commodore SS LE Group 3 in Formula Blue. It has been a while since we last released a VK and this replica of the popular and rare Group A/3 should be very popular. For collectors of the blue oval, we have two new EB Falcons that will be produced in resin that we’re now accepting orders for. The first is the 1993 Australian Touring Car Championship Winner driven by Glenn Seton and the other model is the 1993 season car driven by Dick Johnson in the same year. We hope you’re a fan of these two models and add them to your Biante Motor Racing Legends Collection. As always, all of our latest model announcements are available to pre-order now from your local Biante dealer. Lastly, don’t miss the great promotion for our 1:18 Scale Biante Racing Special Edition Model which ends very soon. Check out the details below and you could win a rare racing experience! THE NEW “TUFF COUPE” 1:18 SCALE FORD XA FALCON CUSTOM COUPE Biante Model Cars are very pleased to present the opportunity to place your orders for the menacing looking 1:18 Scale Ford XA Falcon Custom Coupe in Black. This will be our fourth edition to our popular range of custom street machine models and may be the last Ford version that we see for a little while with some Holden versions currently in development which is very exciting for us at Biante and collectors of this style of model. Similarly to our previous custom models, the modifications for the Black coupe are significant. Out is the regular stock Ford V8, replaced by a 351 Cleveland topped with a 6:71 supercharger and twin Dominator Carbs on the twin hump induction scoop lavished in chrome. It rides on Drag ET radials on the back while the fronts are ET Front runners. Inside, the white bucket seats with black racing harnesses and four point chrome roll cage all work together beautifully. Move to the boot and the 5 litre fuel surge tank is another exceptionally crafted feature. New Announcements: 1:18 Scale Holden HT Monaro GTS350 Coupe
NOW AVAILABLE TO PRE-ORDER AT YOUR LOCAL BIANTE DEALER *1:18 Scale Prototype Model Shown
ULTRA RARE WARRIGAL BLACK 1:18 SCALE HOLDEN HT MONARO GTS350 Biante Model Cars are pleased to present the opportunity to place your orders for the 1:18 Scale Holden HT Monaro GTS350 in Warrigal Black with Gold Stripes and the very impressive Houndstooth Interior.
The HT Monaro was released in 1969 as part of the first generation of Monaros, replacing the first released HK version. There were various changes to the upgrade, most notably the GTS327 became the GTS350 with a change in engines. Other than the GTS350 name, the HT could easily be identified by the two equally thick GTS racing stripes that ran down the centre of the bonnet and boot for the new edition as opposed to the two thin and thick stripes running down the drivers side on the HK. Another point of difference for the HT were the two small scoops added to the bonnet that were really more stylistic additions rather than performance based. The HT was, and still remains a popular muscle car of choice for Australian motoring enthusiasts which was certainly helped by its on track success at the Hardie-Ferodo 500 in 1969. The Holden Dealer Team entered three Monaros in The Great Race for that year, clinching a win with Colin Bond and Tony Roberts behind the wheel, with Des West and a young Peter Brock coming third and Peter Macrow with Henk Woelders bringing the third car home in sixth place. This 1:18 Scale die-cast model with fully opening parts, high quality details and impressive finishing is another fine replica from Biante Model Cars. Modelled in the ultra rare Warrigal Black with Gold stripes colour scheme and the exceptionally good looking (and named) Houndstooth interior, this is a stunning model and a must have for Australian muscle car collectors. Ensure you don’t miss out on the stunning Warrigal Black HT GTS350 by placing your pre-orders as soon as possible or visit www.biante.com.au for more information.

NOW AVAILABLE TO PRE-ORDER AT YOUR LOCAL BIANTE DEALER *1:18 Scale Prototype Model Shown
THE ICONIC GROUP A/3 Biante Model Cars are extremely pleased to present the opportunity to place your orders for the iconic Holden VK Commodore SS LE Group 3 in Formula Blue (more commonly known as the Group A/3). This model will be produced in high quality 1:18 Scale die-cast with fully opening parts. With a build number of only 48 units, the VK Group A/3 could easily be described as one of the rarest Australian muscle cars in existence. The car is effectively a combination of two model packages, using Group A running gear in a Group 3 body. This utilised the performance of the Group A engine while adding various refinements made possible with the Group 3 fit-out. Available only in the popular Formula Blue Colour scheme, this new muscle car featured the optional rearward facing bonnet scoop and sat on 16”x7” Aero Rims with the 16”x8” Momo Star rims available as an option which we have replicated. With a reported top speed of 215 Km/Ph and the capability of producing a standing start quarter mile time of 15.54 seconds at 143 Km/Ph, there were certainly no problems with the performance of the VK Group A/3 backing up its impressive and intimidating looks. This is another exceptional replication of an iconic Australian car by Biante Model Cars. Featuring a highly detailed engine bay, interior, wheels, undercarriage, impressive finishing and a more accurate rear wing in comparison to previous Group 3’s.

THE LAST BATHURST MONARO *1:18 Scale Prototype Model Shown
Biante Model Cars are pleased to present the opportunity to place your orders for the 1:18 Scale Holden HQ Monaro GTS350 Sedan driven by Ron Dickson and Pat Crea in the 1974 Hardie-Ferodo 1000.
THE word ‘Monaro’ instantly conjures up images of Bathurst victories for Holden fans, namely the 1968 win by privateer Bruce McPhee in his GTS 327 and the 1969 win by the improved GTS 350 of Colin Bond and the Holden Dealer Team. But the change in philosophy by Holden to the light and nimble Torana for 1970 meant that the Monaro was put into the shade. But that didn’t mean that the Monaro nameplate would go missing from the Mountain forever. While no Monaros competed in the 1971 or 1972 races, there would be one, a four-door HQ model, on the grid in both 1973 and 1974. The ’73 Hardie-Ferodo 1000 was the first run to the extended distance of 1000 kilometres rather than 500 miles. Muir Motors entered a ‘308’ Monaro HQ GTS in the race with Ron Dickson and Bob Stevens as its drivers, the same car having finished 14th overall (and 12th in Class D) in Dickson’s hands in the lead-up Sandown 250 endurance race in Melbourne. Six years before Channel Seven’s Racecam system debuted in Peter Williamson’s Toyota in 1979, the mighty Monaro also put itself into the Bathurst history books and carried a movie camera onboard during the race! The driver could operate it when he felt like it and, while it was not patched into the TV telecast, vision from it is clearly visible in the opening lap sequence of the 1973 Bathurst race coverage available on Chevron Publishing’s The Great Race DVD series. Entered in Class D for over three-litre cars pitted against the V8 Falcons, six-cylinder Torana XU-1s and a handful of Chargers, the Monaro qualified 20th with a 2m46.6s, some 13.2s slower than the pole time set by John Goss’ Falcon XA GT. While all eyes were on the fight at the front between Goss, Allan Moffat’s XA GT, John French’s Bryan Byrt Falcon and the Holden
Dealer Team Toranas of Peter Brock and Colin Bond, the Monaro quietly chipped away and by mid-afternoon was up to sixth in class behind Moffat, Bond, Brock and the John Harvey/Bob Jane and Dick Johnson/Bob Forbes Toranas. But the added race distance brought the Monaro undone, retiring after 130 laps with valve problems in the 308 cubic inch engine. Had the race been 12 months earlier, they would have finished the 500-mile, 130-lap distance just in time!
The Monaro returned to the Mountain in 1974, though this time upgraded with a 350 cubic-inch engine onboard to replace the ‘308 and a new co-driver in Pat Crea to pair up with Dickson. The car qualified 17th in 2m48.3s, slower than its 1973 qualifying time but three positions higher on the grid! The 1974 race is well remembered for the terrible wet weather that affected the second half of the race and, while John Goss and Kevin Bartlett splashed to victory in the longest-ever Bathurst 1000 race held, the Dickson/Crea Monaro finished 23rd overall and eighth in class, completing – you guessed it, 130 laps! They actually crossed the line 24th out of the 27 finishers, though were elevated one spot after the sixth-placed Class B-winning Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV of Jim Murcott and Mal Robertson was excluded from the results post-race. The Monaro had been affected by gearbox problems since the very early stages of the race, having lost second and third gears from lap six onwards, before then dropping onto seven cylinders for the remainder of the race. But they finished and with it came the finish of Monaro’s time at the Mountain in the ‘1000. The 1974 Dickson/Crea car remains the last Monaro entry to compete in The Great Race at Bathurst and the only HQ Monaro to compete in the race in its history. The Muirs Motors Monaro lives on today in the hands of owner Jason Cawthorne, who has had the car on display for fans at the annual Australian Muscle Car Masters event at Sydney Motorsport Park. Ensure you don’t miss out on this iconic HQ by placing your pre-orders as soon as possible or visit www.biante.com.au for more information.

1993 ATCC WINNING EB FALCON *1:43 Scale Resin Prototype Model Shown
Biante Model Cars are pleased to present the opportunity to place your orders for the Ford EB Falcon driven by Glenn Seton to win the 1993 Australian Touring Car Championship. This model will be produced in high quality resin 1:43 Scale.
The introduction of five-litre regulations for the 1993 Australian Touring Car Championship saw the return of a V8-powered Falcon to the series for the first time since 1984. But it was in late 1992 that the first winged Falcons and Commodores appeared as a prelude to the new rules that would eventually morph into V8 Supercars. Glenn Seton’s Peter Jackson Racing squad was the first to race one of the new-specification Falcons at the 1992 Sandown 500 in Melbourne and, while brake problems sidelined the car in its first event, it helped put Seton’s team a few steps in front of other teams heading into what would turn out to be a very successful 1993. For the new season the team built two new cars for Seton (driving GSR3) and Alan Jones (GSR2), who had signed late the season before and drove the #35 entry in ’93. The chase for the championship began at the now defunct Amaroo Park in Sydney and, while John Bowe claimed the honours of being the first to win in the ‘new V8 era’, Seton finished third just three points behind. The next round at Symmons Plains saw Seton lose ground, his Falcon failing to finish the second race with power steering pump problems. But he bounced back in brilliant fashion in the next round on his home track at Phillip Island, and the opposition didn’t see which way he went. The #30 Falcon driver qualified fastest (though was pipped for pole in the Dash for Cash by Dick Johnson) and went on to claim both race wins in style. A fourth place at Lakeside was off-set by the fact teammate Jones won the round, before Seton clean-swept both races at another Victorian venue, Winton, and then took another clean sweep in the next round at Eastern Creek in Sydney. All of the Commodore teams had modifications to their aerodynamics package at the Eastern Creek round and for the remainder of
the season the Gibson Motorsport-run Winfield Commodores of Jim Richards and Mark Skaife were the form cars. Seton and Skaife shared the race wins at Mallala though Seton claimed the round and was inching closer to his first Australian Touring Car Championship. He would seal the title in the second race of the penultimate round at Barbagallo in Perth given both his title rivals had problems. John Bowe was eliminated in a first corner accident and buried in the sand, while teammate Jones struggled to finish sixth. The fact that Seton ran off the road on lap four and was buried in the sand didn’t change things and he could not be beaten for the championship heading into the final round at Oran Park. However, a pre-Oran Park testing accident at Phillip Island destroyed Jones’ car (with former works Toyota touring car driver Drew Price at the wheel), forcing the team to move him into Seton’s title winner (GSR3) and Seton to debut a new chassis (GSR4).
Seton finished fourth for the round and Jones sixth, though it was enough for the former F1 World Champion to claim second in the championship and give the Peter Jackson team a 1-2 finish to round out the sprint season. All up, Seton won seven of the 18 races in the 1993 championship, four of the nine rounds and did it all without claiming a pole position for the entire season! The championship was his first of two for the second-generation racing star, the Hall of Famer going on to claim another title in 1997. DICK JOHNSON’S 1993 SEASON *1:43 Scale Resin Prototype Model Shown
Biante Model Cars are pleased to present the opportunity to place your orders for the Ford EB Falcon driven by Dick Johnson in the 1993 Australian Touring Car Championship. This model will be produced in high quality resin 1:43 Scale. The introduction of five-litre regulations for the Shell Australian Touring Car Championship in 1993 saw the return of a V8-powered Falcon to the series for the first time since 1984. The man that won the ’84 crown, Dick Johnson, would be right at the forefront of the new category that would eventually morph into what is known today as V8 Supercars.
wasn’t on his side as the car broke its diff on the warm-up lap and he didn’t even start. A rear of grid start in Race 2 saw Johnson charge from 33rd to 12th but no championship points for the weekend left him a ranked a distant 19th for the weekend. Things were again tough in round seven at Mallala in South Australia. After finishing fourth in Race 1, a spin and pit stop to check on a suspected flat tyre in Race 2 dropped him to finish 14th in the race and 12th for the round.
His Shell-sponsored team had already built a car in 1992 for the new regulations, though it never ended up racing. A second car was constructed and used later that season, becoming John Bowe’s car for the ’93 title chase. Team boss Johnson had a new car, EB3, built for him for the new season and he made a successful debut aboard it in the opening round at Amaroo Park in Sydney. He claimed victory in the opening heat from the front row of the grid, which was held exclusively for the V8 cars (and the 2.5-litre BMW M3s that had been permitted to stay racing). But things went sour in the combined final when a tyre rubbing on bodywork eventually let go, pitching Johnson off the road on the run up Bitupave Hill while out in front.
Miserable wet weather greeted teams in the penultimate round at Barbagallo in Perth and it wasn’t just the weather that was miserable for Johnson, the result sheet was too. After qualifying on the front row of the grid via finishing second in the Dash for Cash, Johnson ended up 10th in Race 1 after a spin and eighth in Race 2 to be 10th for the round. A tough second half of the season came to an end in the championship finale at Oran Park and it was another tough one for Johnson. He qualified seventh but bogged down and stalled on the grid, eventually racing back through to 12th spot. The final race of the season saw Johnson come home 9th and 13th for the round, rounding out a sprint series that had started well but ended under difficult circumstances.
Round two took the teams to Symmons Plains in Tasmania and Johnson took the #17 Falcon to third overall before claiming pole position at Phillip Island by virtue of winning the three-lap Dash for Cash. But the local Victorianbased Peter Jackson Falcons of Glenn Seton and Alan Jones would prove to be too strong on their home circuit and Johnson was left to settle for fourth overall for the weekend. Johnson’s local circuit at Lakeside in Queensland hosted round four and again the Ford icon was in good form. He won Race 1 and ended up finishing the round second behind Jones, though the form wouldn’t continue at Winton. Another pole position in the Dash for Cash was the only real positive for the weekend with seventh and sixth in the two races enough for fifth overall.
With Seton and Jones finishing 1-2 in the championship, Bowe was third clear of Jim Richards’ Winfield Holden. Richards’ strong late season form leapfrogged him past Johnson by six points to bump the Queenslander back to fifth. But while Johnson had a tough second half of the season, it was nothing compared to the fate that would befall his Falcon at Bathurst. A collision with privateer Bill O’Brien destroyed the EB Falcon in a heavy accident, leaving Johnson bruised and sore after smashing into the concrete wall at the top of the Mountain. A TAFE team repaired the remnants of the wreck some years later and Johnson’s 1993 ATCC car, EB3, remains in the DJR museum on the Gold Coast built up as a replica of the 1994 Bathurst-winning car, which itself was destroyed in an accident at Phillip Island in 1996.
Round six at Eastern Creek started disastrously as Johnson hit a slowmoving Larry Perkins in practice, prompting the Shell team to give the #17 Falcon a major rebuild to get it ready to race. Johnson qualified ninth but luck

Biante News: Biante Model Cars at Bathurst
BIANTE MODEL CARS 2013 BATHURST WRAP The 2013 Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 was held earlier in October and Biante Model Cars were there to hold our annual Bathurst Collectors evening which was a big success with almost 200 eager collectors attending.
Attendees were treated with a chance to meet and greet with current V8 Supercar stars Fabian Coulthard, Luke Youlden, Andrew Jones, David Wall and Chris Pither while there were a few legends who also attended in Jim Richards, and Dick Johnson who, as always, was incredibly popular and gave some fascinating insights to his career and the weekends events. We had a range of upcoming models on display and we also had our 1:18 Scale Biante Racing Special Edition model available to purchase on the night. Prizes were won, laughs were had and it was a fantastic evening, thank you to everyone who attended. We also had our own car racing around Mount Panorama this year with Andrew Jones behind the wheel of the Biante Racing Holden VEII V8 Supercar. It was a fantastic experience to see our own livery running around such a famous race track. While remaining very competitive in both races, unfortunately we didn’t quite snare the podium finish that we were chasing, but that’s racing! We hope you enjoyed seeing the car at Bathurst and don’t forget that the Biante Racing Special Edition model is available to purchase online currently with a very special prize up for grabs if you buy one, but entries close November 8, so get in quick for that one. More info can be found about that at the beginning of this newsletter. Main Image: The Biante Racing V8 Supercar in action. Top Row (L-R) A range of models on display and collectors looking on.
