Through dance, song and music
the Folklore Ensemble "JANOSIK" explores and interprets the most treasured traditions of the Slovak people and is one of the most prominent amateur groups in Slovakia.
All members of the group live and work in the industrial town of Svit situated below the Tatra mountains. Just like Billingham, Svit is a relatively new town, which was
founded in 1934 when the firm Bata Zlin bought land from the district of Velka on which to build a factory for the production of artificial fibre. At that time only seven family houses were built around the town. As the factory expanded over the years so did the village and in '1962it became a town. The Folklore Ensemble "Janosik" was founded in 1956 and since
