A great and varied repertoire.iS.:.:i, performed by the group, which involves over 1000 traditional costume changes. The 35 strong ,', troupe perform songs and dances from Quebec and lnternational Dances choreographed by a dedicated team, who share the love of dance and traditions. This company invites us

"Ripparemmi" is nowadays known as one of the best Folklore Ensembles in Scandanavia. To be chosen as part of this group every member has to pass an entrance examination of the highest standard.

Ever since 1976, when the first group from Gualalajara appeared at Billingham, Mexico has become a firm favourite of our audiences.
The variety of costumes, the colour and gaiety of the Mexican Folk Dances and the beautiful senoritas and handsome young men who perform them, have brought them world-wide Fame and this group is no exception.

"Karangahan" is a bicol (province in the Philippines), a word which means abundance, prosperity and unity. The birth of Karangahan Philippine Dance Company stems from the collective strength of young well - travelled artists, highly trained to portray the complexity of Filipino Culture through folk music and dance. FOLK DANGE GROUP FROM BUCHAREST UIUIVERSITY The orchestra travelling with this
group has a wide variety of Folk Songs and Music from rich ballads to foot stamping rhythms. Their instruments range from violins to violas, accordions and the haunting and beautiful pan pipes. This group promises

energetic, exciting and very entertaining. One of the most famous members of the ensemble is Gef Gheorge Zamfir, known all over the World for his pan pipe playing.
THE POPULAR IilTENilATIOIUAL TI The group are back by popular demand from the Audience Survey carried out each year; Brigham Young University Folk Dance Group. Brigham Young present a variety of dances from all the corners of the USA, including dances from the Appalachian Mountains, where the group dance jigs and step dances wearing clogs. Follow the Pioneer heritage trail to American Nostalgia, where we will be treated to this young energetic group performing the Charleston, Jitterbug and true American Line Dancing. Being very old friends of
Billingham, we know this group
are extremely entertaining and will keep your feet tapping from
beginning to end.

group's programme. TheY are accompanied by Dalriada, a band formed in Manchester by Hugh Ferguson in the 1960's but based in Bristol for the last 25 years. Their normal line up is accordion, fiddle and piano which can be augmented by double bass, acoustic guital 2nd accordion. 2nd fiddle and caller for ceilidhs. For both groups it is their first visit to Billingham Festival. Dalriada have had the honour of playing at royal residencies including a recent visit to Sandringham to play for the RoYal Family's Hogmanay Ball.
Billingham Silver Band will be making it's 37th appearance at the Festival, having performed at every event.
Mr D.V. Evans, a former instrumentalist, has conducted the Band for 22years.
