BLACK ANGUS ELITE HEIFERS

Lot YCF 34K

Ycf Miss Morrison 2234k

6 generations back, on the bottom side of this heifer, you will find the legendary foundation Biever’s Miss Morrison cow family (6G), known for being prolific and perfect made. A complimentary clean front, great rib capacity, length and hair, showing that true angus head. The Harold 49H sire is a SAV Renown 3439 son and Miss Morrison 34K is out of my absolute best KFC dam – 1313Y, from my 1st Black Angus Purebred purchase in 2010. Harold is presently breeding at the Hewitt Ranch.

My Colossal 806G heifer that I hate to part with. Essence 104K has nice calving ease numbers on a moderate frame. The U2 mom goes back to a Bravo and Syndicate mix, a very nice dam in our herd. If you came and visited Colossal you would be impressed. A very sound footed, deep, thick, easy-moving, great personality 4 year old bull. I am proud of him and cannot say enough about him. An all-around natural.

Welcome to our 11th Annual Bull Sale!

Thank you to everyone who has supported us over the past 11 years. Your trust has meant a lot to us and we have truly enjoyed our associations with you.

Bull Sale time is a very exciting time of the year for us, and we hope it’s a time of year you look forward to as well in anticipation of new genetics for your herd. As purebred breeders our goal is to produce animals with picture-perfect udders and feet, great maternal qualities and good temperaments that will bring you top dollar when you sell them.

We’re very excited about the quality of bulls on offer this year. Every year we feel like we’ve raised the bar for our herd and this year is no exception. We take pride in sourcing and finding new genetics that we feel will improve our cow herd and your herd. We invite you to come visit and have a look at this years line-up of bulls for yourself. We like a good excuse to visit and eat treats in the middle of the day! We value your time and know that there are many Bull Sale options out there, so to show our appreciation, Visitors will receive a $200 credit towards a bull they purchase at the 2023 sale.

We are very thankful to our customers, neighbours and friends for your trust and confidence in our program. We strive to earn your business by providing the very best bulls possible and customer service to match.

Bull Management

We strive to provide our herd the best possible feed ingredients and health protocols to ensure optimal health and growth throughout their lives. At birth the calves are given Enforce and Vit ADE and warm head gear if the weather is cold enough to freeze those delicate ears.

When we turn out for summer pasture in late May early June, the calves are given Pyramid FPS with Presponse, Fermicon 7/Somnugen and Long Range. At this time, we also take the calves weights and hair samples for DNA.

When the calves come home in the fall, we give them a booster shot of Pyramid FPS and Fermicon and give them Ivermectin or Cylence pour on. We weigh them again to get their weaning weights.

We feed alfalfa silage to our herd, and start the bulls on a alfalfa silage/Timothy ration to begin. We then introduce a pellet ration from Bullseye Feeds into the ration. We slowly increase the pellet ration to 1% of body weight of the animal and eliminate the timothy from the ration. We feel this ration helps the bulls to grow into their genetic potential without pushing them to hard and burning them out and reducing their long-term breeding potential.

All bulls are semen tested by the wonderful staff at Fort Macleod Vet Clinic a few weeks before sale day. At this time the bulls are given their first shot of Fusaguard for prevention of foot rot. The booster shot is given before sale day.

Our main Herd Sire on the Farm, purchased from the very Maternal-focused W Sunrise Ranch, he was our pick because of his foot structure and at 5 years of age his feet are impeccable. Tanner Walgenbach wrote “a moderate birth weight bull that will leave behind exceptional females” and he was 100% right on that. His calf crops have been super consistent.

Cts Remedy 1t01

Remedy is one of the highest foot score bulls in the Angus breed, so of course we’d select him as an AI sire. He’s also a calving ease specialist with early rapid growth. His sons are powerful calving ease bulls and his daughters benefit from high maternal sires, excellent udder quality and structural integrity.
