Timing affects success of free video conferencing In the new millennium, people often share their knowledge with a large audience, with the help ofvideo conferencing. People who have credible experience can engage with a wide audience base and disseminate information in real time either in the form of a webinar (an online seminar) or a video conference. Organizing an online seminar that will be successful requires planning. A crucial factor that affects how well your webinar is received by your audience is when you schedule it. Video communication can only be effective if it is timed well. Let us take a quick look at some of the factors that you should be mindful of when planning a webinar and choosing a time for it.

 Know your target audience People often get mislead by the fact that because free video conferencing is conducted over the internet, the whole world is their audience. This is sadly not the case. It is important that when you choose a broadcast time you do so with your actual target audience in mind. Is your presentation for businessmen, or is it targeted towards homemakers? Consider whether high school teenagers will join your conference or university students? Pick a time that will be appropriate to your primary target audience.

 Global time zones Since you want your video communication to reach as many people across as many geographical locations, be mindful of the various time zones. Especially if you know that a lot of people who will attend your seminars are international residents, pick a time to schedule your webinar that will be easy for them to attend. Nobody will be interested in listening to you if you are talking to them in the wee hours of the morning.

 Avoid weekends The weekends are the time that people like to spend doing leisurely activities and not attending free video conferencing seminars. It is therefore advisable to avoid choosing the weekend as your scheduled time for your seminar. However, if you have to schedule your conference on the weekend it is safer to schedule it in the late afternoon. Sunday mornings should be avoided unless it is a seminar about a recreational activity.  Give late nights a miss Be careful of the duration of your seminar. If it is a long one that will last more than 45-60 minutes, then do not schedule it around six in the evening. There is a higher probability of people giving your seminar a pass since it will run through dinner time. A video telepresence will enhance your portfolio only if people attend it. The time at which you decide to broadcast should therefore be such that people will be able to take the time to participate actively without any hassles. Time it well so that it is mutually beneficial to you and your participants.
