Don Lindsay announced his retirement as president and CEO of Teck Resources after 17 years with the company. Jonathan Price will succeed him as CEO, while Harry Conger will serve as president and COO. Lindsay joined Teck as president in January 2005. He was later appointed to the company’s board and named its CEO. Lindsay is a graduate of Queen’s University (BSc Hons) and Harvard Business School (MBA). Prior to joining Teck, Lindsay was employed by CIBC World Markets.
Lukas Lundin, founder and former chair of Lundin Mining, Lucara Diamond and Filo Mining, passed away on July 26 of brain cancer. Over 40 years, he was a driving force behind the successes of 11 companies within the Lundin Group. At Lundin Gold, which he founded in 2014, Lundin oversaw the development of Ecuador’s first modern gold mine, Fruta del Norte. The Group has a combined market cap in excess of US$11 billion, directly employing more than 15,000 people.
Appian Capital Advisory appointed Peter Nicholson as the head of its Australia and Asia division. In addition to overseeing portfolio companies, he will execute portfolio investments and exits across the regions. Nicholsaon has 13 years of experience serving as managing director, Australia, of a mining private equity fund. Nicholson graduated from the University of Queensland with a BEng (mining) and is a fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (FINSIA).
