WHO WE ARE Since its inception in 2007, One and All Cycling has been the fastest-growing cycling club in the South West of England. It is an inclusive club that caters for beginners right through to serious racing cyclists. Their aim is to promote cycling in all forms and to help people enjoy an active, fulfilling and happy lifestyle. At present One and All Cycling has around 400 senior and junior members and hosts weekly Sunday club runs from their base of operations at Bike Chain Bissoe as well as regular local time trials. The club are also co-hosts of The Cornish Series, Cornwall’s premier criterium racing event.

“It was a desire to set up an organisation that maybe had a different approach to cycling. What makes One & All so unique is the people within it, so long as we keep the grassroots going. That’s got to be the future of any sport that any club in the UK should replicate.” - Richard Pascoe, co-founder One and All Cycling
WHAT WE DO
Skills, Coaching, Development
One and All Cycling provide qualified coaches and enthusiastic group leaders to take cyclists of all ages and fitness levels on organised rides. Every Sunday morning sees the departure of hundreds of amateur cyclists from Bike Chain Bissoe in skill groups ranging from leisure and sportive to race-level speeds. We also have numerous world-class patrons that, as professional cyclists, act as mentors and inspire both the junior and adult riders. These patrons include ex-world track cycling champion Wendy Houvenaghel, ex-professional road racer Tom Southam, and current professionals Chris Opie, Steve Lampier and Yanto Barker. All were born in or have strong links with Cornwall. As well as Sunday group riding, One and All Cycling also cohost the Cornish Series criterium races and local time trials.

WHY WE DO IT
Fun, Fitness, Progression
Cycling is fun, sociable, and a great way to keep fit. One and All Cycling cater for all of those aspects, whether members wish to take a leisurely Sunday spin or harden their legs for sportive riding or road racing. Taking our ethic from the Cornish motto ‘one and all’, we have no age limits or skill requirements other than being able to ride a bike safely and responsibly. We are an all-inclusive club, not exclusive, and simply want to get as much people cycling as possible.

Cycling in large groups is motivational and addictive, with skilllevels naturally progressing. Regular group riding is the best way to safely improve your overall cycling ability and it is our mission to see that through.
HOW WE DO IT
Skills, Progression, Safety
It was back in March of this year when, after 23-year-old One and All Cycling rider Junior Hefferman was tragically killed during a road race in Gloucestershire, the ball got rolling for an off-road training venue in Cornwall. Richard Pascoe, founder of One and All Cycling, knew that the possibility of something similar happening on Cornish roads during training just could not happen on his watch. Perranporth Aerodrome was the answer. The aerodrome - which is also used for the Cornish Series (national level circuit races) - was the perfect location for such an event. The idea is simple: to train riders of all levels to cope in large group-riding environments. Image Š Joel Hewitt
It is with great thanks to the Spitfire Heritage Trust that this facility provision is made possible, now and for years to come.
WHO WE ARE The One and All Cycling Youth Academy was launched on November 6th, 2011. Its aim is to encourage young people to take up cycling and to provide a clear pathway for them to progress. One and All Cycling provide qualified coaches and enthusiastic group leaders as well as the help of several patrons who act as mentors. These patrons include Olympic silver medalist and world track cycling champion Wendy Houvenaghel; exprofessional racer Tom Southam; and current professionals Chris Opie, Steve Lampier and Yanto Barker, all of whom were born or live in Cornwall.
“About a year ago, with my wife Liz Hart and cycling coach Fiona Telfer-Brunton, we set up the Academy, which has now got 120 under-18 members in it. That’s unique because it has coaching and education. It gives every young person under 18 access to different forms of cycling.” - Richard Pascoe, co-founder One and All Cycling

WHAT WE DO
Skills, Coaching, Development
The Academy structure caters for any Under 18 rider in the club who will participate in weekly coaching sessions to develop on- and off-bike skills. Targeted coaching of the ‘development squad’ then provides an opportunity for talented riders to progress through more structured advice, training and support. Through the Academy riders have the opportunity to experience a wide variety of cycling disciplines including Road and Time Trial, Mountain Bike, BMX, Track and Cyclo-Cross. One and All Cycling has always been very keen to encourage younger members to join and has access to a closed circuit which is available for use at weekends to run safe, off-road skills training sessions for youth riders as well as senior club members. We also provide areas for indoor group training sessions during the winter months.

WHY WE DO IT
Growth, Support, Opportunity The Academy has been set up to create more opportunities for participation in a variety of cycling related activities for all young people under the age of 18 in Cornwall. It will also identify those riders with the ambition, talent and drive to compete at regional and national level and perhaps progress towards professional competition.
“We are delighted as a club to support this great new venture that will open up many exciting opportunities for young cyclists in Cornwall. It will enable us to invest in a whole new pool of talent and ambition and increase the number of opportunities for young people to enjoy cycling as a sport and leisure activity.” Image © Sam Moore

HOW WE DO IT
Skills, Progression, Safety
In the early days of One and All Cycling, Richard Pascoe approached the Wheal Jane Group, who have a link-road circuit above the Bissoe Valley. The plan was to use this circuit as a safe cycle training facility for the One and All Cycling Youth Academy. Thankfully, Bernard Ballard and Mark Giddings volunteered the use of the road immediately. This single gesture launched the club and put Cornish cycling to the forefront in the UK. One and All Cycling now uses it for skills, group riding and teaching young riders in the Youth Academy, with their development riders receiving coach-led racing tactics. We whole heartedly thank the company for their involvement.
