American Bicyclist presents the world of cycling to the League's members. This issue The League of American Bicyclists’ new workbook Bicycle Friendly America: The Blueprint identifies the DNA of a bicycle friendly community, business, university and even an entire state. There are a lot of elements to being bicyclist-friendly, and there are some clear projects, policies, programs and plans that really make a difference in all areas – from small two-person businesses to large cities and states.
We know the elements that make up the foundation and building blocks of bicycle friendliness. Bicycle Friendly America: The Blueprint divides each of these building blocks into the five Es that comprise our applications: engineering, education, encouragement, enforcement, and evaluation and planning.
Each section of this book breaks down the steps and tools needed to successfully incorporate these elements into your community, business, university or state to become bicycle-friendly.
