It’s Fun to Camp in New Jersey!
It’s always time for s’mores!
WELCOME
NEW JERSEY CAMPGROUND OWNERS ASSOCIATION

N
EW JERSEY has such a beautiful landscape, it’s no surprise that there are nearly 100 campgrounds for nature lovers to enjoy. Think about it. The more technology advances and the faster paced life becomes, the more satisfying it is to seek out a simpler kind of fun. That’s exactly what camping in New Jersey offers: a relaxing, carefree, simple lifestyle among the most beautiful spots on Earth. As president of the New Jersey Campground Owners Association, I’ve seen first hand all the amazing campgrounds in the Garden State and am so excited to bring you this year’s guidebook highlighting the camping and RVing opportunities here. We continue to keep our book fresh and full of important campground info, fun photos, and lots of great things to do. Refer to our map to choose your camping spot by location, read the listings chart to pick your vacation campground or RV park by amenity, and read our region pages to learn about each destination. The New Jersey Campground Owners Association turned a milestone 50 years old back in 2013, and we are looking to the future for at least 50 more. The Association’s philosophy is to provide clean, wholesome environments where families and friends can relax and share the wonders of nature while sitting around a campfire. Happy Camping! NJCOA “Serving New Jersey’s Private Campgrounds for 51 Years”
NEW JERSEY CAMPGROUND OWNERS ASSOCIATION
T
HE NEW JERSEY Campground Owners Association (NJCOA) is the trade association representing the privately owned commercial campgrounds in the State of New Jersey. It is dedicated to serving the needs of its members and providing the public with camping & RVing information throughout the state. NJCOA promotes the recreational camping lifestyle through the distribution of educational and informational publications and brochures. By coming together as an association, the members of NJCOA aim to guide the growth of the camping industry in New Jersey and to stimulate the development of excellence in accommodations and hospitality to our clientele.
NJCOA is a proud affiliate of the National Association of RV Parks & Campgrounds (ARVC).
A
RVC WAS FOUNDED in 1967 as the National Campground Owners Association by a group of commercial campground owners seeking to promote the camping lifestyle and to form a national advocacy for the industry. Today ARVC has some 4000 campgrounds as members in nearly every state of the union. ARVC promotes the campground & RV park lifestyle through the nationally recognized “Go Camping America” campaign in conjunction with the “Go RVing” advertising campaign. The popular website gocampingamerica.com helps people find information about camping across the country.

NJ Fishing & Crabbing Rules & Regulations LICENSES Anyone age 16 and older must have a valid license (see Exemptions) to fish the fresh waters of New Jersey with handline, rod and line, or longbow and arrow. This includes privately-owned lakes and other waters. Fishing licenses may be obtained from license agents or online. Duplicate licenses for the current year are also available. New Jersey does not require a general saltwater fishing license for recreational surf casting, deep sea or bay fishing. However, New Jersey saltwater anglers must register with the New Jersey Saltwater Recreational Registry Program. Also, there is a variety of required licenses and permits for crabbing, clamming and commercial saltwater fishing issued by the NJ Division of Fish and Wildlife’s Bureau of Marine Fisheries. A clamming license is now called a shellfish license and is required for harvesting of all species of benthic mollusks (with the exception of conchs) including, but not limited to, hard and soft clams, surf clams, oysters, bay scallops and mussels. Licenses are available at shellfish license agent and online. EXEMPTIONS Anglers Under 16 - No fishing license is required of persons under 16 years old. NJ Residents Age 70 and Over - A driver’s license or other acceptable proof of age containing date of birth and physical description will function as the actual fishing license for New Jersey residents 70 and over. No application fee is required, no registration with the Division of Fish and Wildlife is required and no license will be issued. Trout stamps are not required. CRABBING Single hand lines and collapsible traps do not require a license. Crabs taken with a recreational license may not be sold or used for barter. The maximum harvest and/or possession limit of crabs is one bushel a day. All organisms other than crabs and conchs shall be immediately released. All female crabs having eggs or spawn attached shall be immediately released. Crab pots and trot lines may be tended only from 4am - 9pm prevailing time, in Delaware Bay and 24 hours a day in all other waters. All crab pots must be checked and emptied of all crabs and other organisms at least once every 72 hours. Minimum size for harvesting: peeler or shedder crabs - 3 inches; soft crabs - 3.5 inches and hard crabs - 4.5 inches. All measurements are from point to point. Please visit state.nj.us for more information.

About this Area WANT TO RELAX? Southern New Jersey is like a big hammock waiting for you to lounge on. After all, some of the best beaches are here and, really, isn’t relaxing on the beach the ultimate in lounging? Perhaps, though, you’d rather soar down a steep slope so fast that your cheeks wobble in the breeze or climb hundreds of feet into the air, through tight curves and teeny stairs up to the tippy top of a lighthouse. Whether you want to hike, water ski, ride amusements, golf, play tennis, shoot some hoops, or win a big stuffie at a Boardwalk game, this is the spot for you. Here you’ll find awesome wildlife, cool museums, soft, sandy beaches, clean ocean and bays, sports, boutique shopping, fine and friendly dining, and several Boardwalks with individual personalities. Explore the southern tip of the Garden State. You’ll love what you find here.

The Greater Atlantic City Region
A GREATER ATLANTIC CITY REGION
Visit, Explore, Play, Do AC
About this Area WE MAY BE far from the days of the diving horse, but Atlantic City is still full of great acts, delicious food and indulgent shopping. And that doesn’t even begin to mention lady luck. Will she be on your side as you throw those dice or pull that handle? Find yourself further north of the main drag and you’ll land in quaint Gardner’s Basin, home of the Atlantic City Aquarium, featuring a live dive show, feeding and touch tank. Also in this region is another spot full of adorable shops, lovely restaurants and fun things to do. Historic Smithville is fun for the entire family, bring them and indulge in activities that will last you all day. From the neon lights of the casinos, to the soothing blue of the blueberry fields, Greater Atlantic City Region will give great color to your vacation.

G GATEWAY REGION
One of America’s Top Cultural Hotspots
Gateway Region Destinations
About this Area DO YOU KNOW where the first steam engine was built? Right here in the Gateway Region. The revolver was invented here too by Samuel Colt in 1836. The Gateway Region is full of historical significance, and no landmark tells a tale rich in culture and heritage quite like one of the most famous in the world – The Statue of Liberty. Ellis Island is just a ferry away yet hundreds of years in the making. If nature is more your thing, visit the Great Falls of Patterson and get sprayed in the mist. Be enchanted by cherry blossoms during peak season at Branch Brook Park in Newark, or stroll through the New Jersey State Botanical Gardens in Ringwood. Science, history, nature, big cities, shopping, dining and more are within your reach with a camping stay in the Gateway Region, home of Meadowlands Stadium, host of Superbowl XLVIII.
