The Hedin family is the brains and brawn of the trade show, but they credit the matriarch of the family, Rhonda Hedin, for much of the show’s success.

“She is the one behind-thescenes, making it all happen,” said her husband and show producer, Mark Hedin.

Mark, along with sons and co-producers Devon and Beau, are the familiar faces of the show. The fall Home Improvement Show is celebrating its 26th year – and the Hedin clan is proud of the show’s consistency and new diversity it has to offer.

“It’s the same great show with a new twist,” said Mark.

With as many as 450 booths, this season’s trade show is proving that there is something for everyone at the Home Improvement Show.

From interior and exterior improvement needs, homeowners can browse and speak with experts in the field to revi-

“Your home should be your ‘staycation’ – it is your biggest investment,” said Beau. “Investing in your home is safe – it’s your largest asset and it’s the best way to enjoy it.”

The value in meeting professional home builders, renovation experts and merchants is the one-on-one experience you get. The Home Improvement Show condenses months of shopping around for the ‘hopeful’ right fit all under one roof.

Shoppers can see products, credentials and feel out vendors.

Not a homeowner? Not a problem. The Home Improvement Show has realtors, lenders and insurance agents onsite to answer questions and help anyone looking to buy a home.

“Often times, first-time homebuyers have no idea where to begin; we want to help them find a jumping-off point,” said Devon.

Not even looking to buy a home? Still not a problem.

There are cooking demos; “As Seen on TV” booths with amazing gadgets you didn’t know you needed; a Segway exhibit; food trucks; home theater displays; and plethora of other technological devices to try and

maybe buy – and don’t forget the many events and booths for kids.

The Home Depot will offer kid’s workshops free of charge for children to create fun projects; Patty Cakes the clown will be shaping wonderful balloon animals; there will be a virtual reality kid’s expo; face painting and so much more.

“We know that taking kids to events can be hard on parents – and the kids. So, we wanted to give them a reason to want come and bring fun exhibits just for them,” said Beau.

The Hedin’s foster the economic growth of Billings. For three generations they have worked for local businesses to have a place to show their talent and meet potential clients.

“The goal has always been to keep our community in mind,” said Beau. “We want to support our local businesses. Most of the vendors are local – that way, buyers and sellers get to know one another and form a professional relationship, but also, keeping it local means the money goes back into the community.

The Hedin family works hard, and oftentimes for free, to create not only a great expe-

rience at the Home Improvement Show but to give back to the community that has cultivated the show’s sustainability.

The show is free, and many of the attractions are free. Grand prizes, valued up to $25,000, are free to enter – no raffle tickets to buy, no strings attached.

“There’s no catch. We just want to give back,” said Devon.

“And the best part is, you can check what prizes you would like to win, rather than win something you are never going to use.”

The Home Improvement Show is geared towards the thriving Billings housing market, yes. But, the overall message is more than just creating monetary growth in your home.

Before jumping into a DIY renovation job, consider the extent of your needs. Since bathrooms feature plenty of water connections, being unfamiliar with routing and sealing joints can create disastrous results.

Leaks can cause more than expensive flooring repairs; it also introduces a breeding ground for health hazards like mold.
