Instead of simply admiring the majesty of a custom-crafted hearth and fireplace, you’ll be able to feel its warmth on your cheeks. Yellowstone Basin Construction

YEL

5915 Ironwood Drive Something Old, Something New By Brenda Maas

Blending classic design with new-age edge yields a distinctive home

1.

Age-old elements marry modern conveniences and finishes to create a consistent blend of eras in the Yellowstone Basin Construction home at 5915 Ironwood Dr. From the outside, the house has a touch of Brady Bunch. But step inside to quickly realize that housekeeper Alice has left the building, and “blending” is the only ‘70s factor left. Builder Jacob Brosovich brought back traditional yet mixed it with barn-style doors, reclaimed timbers and ageless subway tile to evoke a classic-meets-edgy vibe in this timeless home.

3.

Home Highlights 1.

2. 3.

An in-home gym gives homeowners a “no excuse” policy. The porcelain soaker tub and raised dual sinks with rectangular, textured tile flooring gives the master bath timeless elegance. The alcove between the kitchen and the back patio provides the perfect spot to catch up on the news or even a few winks.

1.

Like fabulous fashion designers, great home designers understand that a single, well-placed design detail can transform an attractive space into an extraordinary place of style and beauty. Such is the case in this 2014 Parade home by Ban Construction. Located at 5882 Autumnwood in Ironwood Estates, Brian and Tana Ban melded their considerable years of design/build experience to create a home that effuses charm and comfort punctuated with surprising – and engaging – architectural elements.

Wells Built Homes 6148 Autumnwood Timeless Traditional By Allyn Hulteng

Inspired by classic East Coast architecture, this custom home exudes enduring grace and luxury

9 1.

Classically designed, this home features slate-blue siding and red brick detail reminiscent of homes along Cape Cod. The arched entry, supported by thick square pillars and recessed panels beneath the windows, also hints at East Coast architecture. The gracious entry opens to reveal a stately great room. Large floorto-ceiling windows bathe the bisque-colored walls and dark hardwood flooring in natural light. Occupying most of one wall is a gas fireplace framed in wide, polished wood and topped by a massive mantel with large dental molding. While the home exudes tradition, luxurious finishings coupled with thoughtful amenities makes this a warm and inviting environment.

3.

Home Highlights 2. 1. 2. 3.

Crown accents and tray ceiling add interest to the master suite. Box-beam ceiling accents and attractive chandelier light fi xtures play up the home’s fourth wall. Opulent style melds with classic comfort in the home’s great room and kitchen.

Brown Builders

1.

334 Feldspar Way Rustically Elegant By Brenda Maas

Expansive views and warm hospitality highlight this uniquely Montana home

Sometimes a project is so cohesive that it emanates a “no problem—this is easy to do” vibe. Brown Builders accomplished that in their eighth Parade home at 334 Feldspar Way in the Granite Park subdivision. The four-bedroom, three-and-a-half bath rambler fans out across a .75-acre lot, yet there is nothing ho-hum about this rancher. The entire home is a study in plush sophistication with comfortable tones of charcoal, chocolate and latte. Small details, like the triple-crown molding in the kitchen and solid knotty alder doors combine with classic elements like the linen-colored walls and hickory floors give the entire home that warm, come-sit-for-awhile feeling that Montanans love.

1.

5818 Mountain Front True Charmer By Brittany Cremer

Subtle touches, craftsman comfort come alive in delightful West End family home

Rod Wilson, builder/developer for Trails West Homes, has an eye for detail. “Our Parade home might not be the largest on the tour, but it’s full of subtle touches,” he said. It’s these nuanced details that distinguish the comfortable, three-bedroom family home located at 5818 Mountain Front in Billings’ growing Trails West subdivision. Amid windswept wheat fields and just minutes from the mall, this home features both Eastern influences and rustic charm. The property is beautifully landscaped and features an automatic sprinkler system and maintenance-free fencing. The family-friendly, cozy neighborhood also offers a ½-mile walking path and well-manicured boulevards, inviting homeowners to get out and breathe in the sweet, fresh West End air.

Classic Design Homes

1.

5917 Foxtail Lane Sophisticated Simplicity By Brenda Maas

All the basics, dressed up for the town For nearly a decade, Classic Design Homes has kept the home building process simple yet added the extra elements that help homeowners of all budgets realize their own American Dream. This year’s featured home, Classic Design Homes ninth, is located at 5917 Foxtail Lane on Billings’ burgeoning far West End. The entire home, inside and out, is a perfect demonstration of how unlikely earth-tones can truly meld. Caramel marries charcoal; buttery cream warms cool greys; and gold livens up barely-black tones. Yet, certain features, like the über-modern light fixtures and brushed nickel hardware, keep the home from being too neutral.

6301 Ridge Stone Dr. N. Role Model By Brenda Maas

Bright spaces, smart layout and fine finishes highlight this elegant home

The 2014 Parade of Homes will see the fifth Picard-influenced house, including the 2007 People’s Choice Award-winner. This year’s entry, located at 6301 Ridge Stone Drive North in the Ironwood Development, aptly reflects two decades of experience. The 2,668-square-foot home features four bedrooms and three baths over two levels. Yet, it is the attention to detail that punches up the open layout. Warm colors of sand, honey and charcoal throughout make the home warm yet contemporary while the creamy trim accents the urban putty walls and keeps the color palette strikingly rich in this cleverly-crafted West End home.

Putting the “extra” in to extraordinary is their specialty, and this mantra rings true in this year’s Parade home located at 2315 Stone Creek Trail. Situated in Billings’ burgeoning River Rock subdivision in Billings’ West End, this home exudes style, comfort and creativity.

Doubling as a piece of art, the hand-textured terra-cotta-colored wall to the left of the entry continues outdoors. The home’s uber-efficient mud room doubles as the laundry room and is connected to the home’s main bathroom. Kick back and relax in the basement home theater—accented by rustic wood panels and adjacent wet bar and wine cooler.

McCall Homes

1716 Lone Pine Drive Home Built with Hope By Brenda Maas

Chic, warm and functional family home defines the greatness of giving The McCall homes at Josephine Crossing traditionally emphasize the importance of creating places to gather, play and know neighbors. This year’s McCall home, their 12th Parade house, takes the word “community” a step—or, rather a giant leap—further. Built as a “Homes for Hope International” fundraiser, the profits from the sale of this house will seed microfinance ventures across the globe—all from Billings. While each McCall home has certain elements that enhance sustainability—extra energy efficiency; a passive and active side within a close-knit community; front porch entrances instead of massive “garagescapes”—this house has many surprise elements that give that extra kick.

The frosted-glass, inset doors in the front entry are carried throughout the house, including the kitchen and master suite. In lieu of a warren of halls, the four upstairs bedrooms stem off a cozy, second-floor family space. One of three additional bedrooms, this guest room makes a perfect nursery or home office.

Mac Leffler Construction

3137 Peregrine Lane Distinctively Done By Brenda Maas

Solid construction, signature elements meld to create one-of-a-kind home.

When you enter a Mac Leffler Construction home, you are assured of two things: 1) You will see more than 18 years of construction experience, and 2) You will think, “Holy cow! Did he really make that and somehow incorporate it into that house?” This year’s house boasts more of Leffler’s signature elements, plus a few surprises. Considering the plethora of materials—like natural Elk River stone, fir timbers, hand-troweld plaster, metal straps and corrugated steel—the house should look like a kindergartener’s science experiment, yet Leffler pulls it together with a unique cohesiveness that intrigues.

Leffler incorporated fir timbers with metal straps into the home’s design, especially prominent in the dining area. Leffler ties the stainless steel appliances to the island with corrugated steel facing on the island; the corner posts echo the post-andbeam construction of the dining space. With a fun cubby-hole, created by the empty space under the stairs, the lower level bedroom makes the perfect kid retreat.

Expansive views, craftsman touches highlight this Heights haven Jeff Kreitzberg’s home at 1423 Benjamin Boulevard in the Heights High Sierra subdivision is all about the details. A wall of windows and open-air great room invites guests inside. A mud room to the left makes for easy storage of book bags and muddy boots. Further on, the living area spills into the smartly-appointed kitchen, which features a tiered quartz countertop in attractive salt-and-pepper pattern. “This home might not be the most ostentatious on the tour, but it’s a solid, well-built home that people can afford and definitely see themselves in,” Kreitzberg said.
