Holocaust Horrors June 6, 1934


HOLOCAUST HORRORS A Horrible Tragedy The holocaust is horrible tragedy accruing to many innocent people where 6 million Jews were killed by the nazis and 12 million people in all were killed There was over 40,000 concentration camps in Europe killing the Jews 1933-1945 in Europe the Nazis took millions of Jews to concentration camps to be killed. 6 Million killed

6 million killed was about ten million jews, 6 million were killed, remaining around 4 million jews left in Europe. The book The Devil’s Arithmetic by Jane Yolen, reflects on those tragedies from the holocaust. “They’re Nazi’s. Nazis! Do you understand? They kill people. They killed-- kill-- will kill Jews. Hundreds of them. Thousands of them. Six million of them!” (pg 64) This is when the Nazis invaded their small Jewish town.

Concentration Camps Concentration camps were the terrifying places the Jews had to live in during the holocaust were they were forced to work and if they did bad they were put in poison chambers. In the book Jane Yolen was incredible at explaining what the concentration camps were like. “ Tried to escape last night. Escape! And where would they go? To the mine fields? To the woods to starve? To the town where no right thinking Pole would give them shelter? This camp is in the middle of nowhere. All that gives you life's work and my good wishes. Do you understand?” (pg 151) That was a nazi leader about to hang four jews that tried to escape.

Nazis~ are the political and also racist group that held the jews captive Hitler~ he is the man that was in charge of this whole genocide Pole~ a Pole is a polish person Passover~ the major Jewish spring festival that commemorates the liberation of the Israelites from Egyptian slavery,

Remembering The year of 1933 Hitler's plan to kill every Jew was a genocide that would impact every generation to this day. It did impact people and it brought together the United Nations, in the book The Devil’s Arithmetic Hannah the main character didn’t really understand the tragedies until she experienced them when she opened the door for elijah in passover. Hannah was a modern teenager and experienced the terrors of a jew living in a concentration camps “All Jewish holidays are about remembering, Mama. i'm tired of remembering.” (pg 4)

Conclusion In conclusion the Nazis took millions of Jews to concentration camps to be killed. And the tragedies will never be forgot and Jane Yolen made smart decision on writing a book on it to remind us all of the people who were killed just because of their religion and life style.
