On the 17th of June in 1447 there was dirt flying everywhere, there was very confused faces all around and everyone running all about. On the 17th of June in 1447 was a historical day for the Mohawk tribes lives. I say this because it was the day that they fought for their freedom and peace. during this time period it was a big issue for most native american tribes because they were enslaved and made to work. After all of the battles were fought and the mohawk tribe won they realized that they should find a way to make a peace treaty and that's and after playing many Tewaarathon games with other tribes and many powwows they found a perfect idea, create something called great league of peace.

The mohawk tribe in the 1400s were a nomadic group that traveled around the western part of the US. while traveling many people died of starvation and or didn't agree with what the tribe leader said so they left the tribe to find another one. In the early 1400s there was a big war that was told if the mohawk tribe would still be enslaved or not. The mohawk people ended up winning when they had less weapons and men to fight

where the clan mothers, or elder women of each clan, are very respected because they nominate the chief for life and the chief then decides if he wants to keep the treaty with the other tribes. If they violated the peace treaty between all of the 5 tribes then they would lose all of their trading advantages and probably get attacked. The great league of peace was a very big change in all of the western native americans life because everyone was very peaceful with each other and the discovered that the could trust one another to trade with them. If the violated the peace treaty between all of the 5 tribes then they would lose all of their trading advantages and probably get attacked. “Since the big war to let the mohawk tribe be free, no one has violated the treaty and there is peace throughout all of the nations.”
The peace maker Tewaarathon was a sport that was made by the native americans in the early 1400s. Tewaarathon is almost the same thing as the sport you know as lacrosse but back then it was played in the woods and you would have been a lot more aggressive. I think that tewaarathon was a big part of the native american history and the great league of peace because “The game was a religious ritual and partly military training.” To sum it all up all that I have been talking about, the great league of peace is something that is very important to the native american history because it affects how people treat each other and shows that they can get along with each other
