Outcomes of World War 1 By Molly Scribner C Block
World War 1 was a bad period for many people and caused many deaths. World war 1 occurred June 28, 1914- November 11, 1918 and began from the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary. The war happened throughout europe for about 4 years. The main allies in the war were Britain, France, Russia, Italy and the United States, which fought against Germany, Austria-Hungary, Ottoman Empire and Bulgaria. World War 1 was viewed as a hard part of history for many people living in the US. Companies As a result of WW1 companies and corporations started to reduce wages and lay off workers to keep down operating costs. This caused companies to go out of business because they wouldn't have employees and many people not having jobs. Competition An outcome from companies and corporations started to reduce wages and lay off workers to keep down operating costs was that people were now competing for jobs. This caused competition for employment leading to
racial unrest and race riots breeding hatred. Which caused injuries and possibly many deaths. Many soldiers returning from the war now needed jobs. According to American Historama. Com, “Due to the unemployment, many soldiers returning from home couldn't get jobs to now support their families.” The was a hard comeback for many Americans especially after possibly losing their friends or family in the battle. Danger Finally from this competition, it led to the rise of organized crime, speakeasies, gangsters, increased violence and massive political corruption. This was also known as the Prohibition Era, say American Historama. Com, “The introduction of Prohibition Era in the United States led to the rise of organized crime, speakeasies, gangsters, increased violence and massive political corruption.” All this affected the US very much due to families not getting proper income or businesses shutting down. Conclusion Therefore, due to these reasons, World War 1 was viewed as a hard part of history for many people living in the US. I say this because it caused companies and corporations starting to reduce wages and lay off workers to keep down operating costs which led to competition for employment leading to racial unrest and race riots breeding hatred and also leading to the rise of organized crime, speakeasies, gangsters, increased violence and massive political corruption.
