About the book You can’t see them when they are in the mountains. Phantoms were soldiers who would ski across enemies lines. The phantoms were not the largest military force at that time but they were a very important force because they can ski across enemy lines without being seen . Phantoms in the snow is about World War 2. Noah Garrett is from Texas where he has lost both his mother and his father he has been living with his neighbors but once he got older he moved with his uncle. His uncle lived in Camp Hale which was in the Tenth Mountain Division. The Tenth Mountain Division was where the phantoms would train. him to go to the camp because of the fighting. once he was there for a while he started getting used to everything. He was too young to fight when he first got there once he got older he would have to learn how to fight and more importantly learn how to ski. You might not think that skiing was more important than fighting but Phantoms do everything on ski’s. At the camp some of the soldiers don't help his except one trainer. Skeeter. Skeeter was the first person to see him lying on the snow when he arrived at the camp he helped him get up and adjusted to the climate. Noah didn’t have a jacket that will keep him warm so Skeeter helped him overcome a lot of obstacles. Noah didn’t have any friends when he go to the camp and no one wanted to be his friend. The soldiers would make fun of him by calling him Hitler’s son. One of the soldiers named Wiley would tease him about what he eats. He said to him is that ur moms cooking. When they asked what brought him to the camp he told the long story about everything that happened to him including the death of his parents. Once he told everyone the story of why he was there more people started to be nice to him. It took a lot of perseverance for him to move to a military camp and learn how to ski when he has never seen snow and fight when he has never even raised his fist. In the end Noah was not the same person when he first got there. He was much more mature he wasn’t scared. He could ski like a second nature. But the one thing that still sticks with him is… The death of his parents. Even if he loves his uncle his parents will always be on his mind. He had learned how to ski with a very important military force.
