Lexicon: Commandant: an officer in charge of a particular force or institution. Nazi: a member of the National Socialist German Workers' Party. Poland: This is where many Jews came from. Berlin: This is where Auschwitz is located and where the book takes place. Jew: These were the people in the concentration camps. The fuhrer: AKA Hitler. He is in charge of all the Nazis. Auschwitz: One of the largest concentration camps during WWII Gas chamber: A gas chamber is a way the Nazis killed the Jews during the Holocaust. Holocaust: destruction or slaughter on a mass scale, especially caused by fire or nuclear war. In this case the Jews were being killed.
