The Revolutionary War Starving, ill soldiers of Valley Forge and other ranks traveled across the cold, barren landscape of New England in fight for their freedoms and rights from Great Britain. Most had nothing but ragged, worn blankets, and torn blouses to clothe themselves with, that did nothing to prevent the disease. Many had not a shoe smeared across the ice, cold eternal vigilance-Thomas

rebellion had just begun to ignite. The Colonists did not believe that they should have to pay taxes because they were not within the same continent, nor represented in Parliament because of their position and legislature. By this the statement “No taxation without representation” came about. “ Reflected the resentment of American colonists at being taxed by a British Parliament to which they elected no representatives and became an anti-British slogan before the American Revolution; in full, “Taxation without representation is tyranny.” This statement supports my analysis because it gives specific information about the given topic, the people of the colonies, and how they were being taxed, but according to them, they should not be taxed because they're not directly involved with the system of parliament. The Boston tea party was an example of this. The famed act of American colonial defiance that served as a protest against taxation. While many consignees rejected tea shipments, Boston would not tolerate the Patriot peer pressure. On the cool night of December sixteen, the sons of liberty and other disguised as indians boarded three ships and threw 342 cases of tea overboard in defiance. By this act, the two sides were pushed together, closer to war. In conclusion, the people of the colonies, not only did the Colonists stand up for what they believe in by rebelling against Britain, claiming that they should not have to pay parliament because they were not directly related within the system. This was only the beginning, the spark that ignited the rebellion. The fiery flames of defiance, built upon these ashes, and created something new. By rebelling against the British parliament and winning the battle, we triumphed over the long lasting, bloody war. We no longer had to obey the extreme laws, that shackled us from many freedoms and rights we had ambitions to possess. Before the war took place, we had no freedoms of our religion. The religion the people were permitted to practice was christianity. Laws were based upon the will of God. The patriot colonists grew weary and angry over the unjust taxation and enforcements that were compelled against them. In defiance of laws being enforced upon the colonists, they took a stand and rebelled. Their rebellion and standing up for their freedoms was shown through the Boston tea party, in result of the tea act that was imposed by parliament. 3

The claim of defiance “no taxation without representation” was the statement used against parliament. Because the colonies were not directly in the British continent, they did not believe that the laws that applied to the people of England, directly applied to them because of their situation of location and legislature. By this they did not accept the taxations of goods to pay for the debts of a war that they were not involved with. “No taxation without representation; a phrase, generally attributed to James Otis about 1761, that reflected the resentment of American colonists at being taxed by a British Parliament to which they elected no representatives and became an anti-British slogan before the American Revolution; in full, “Taxation without representation is tyranny.”’. This evidence supports the evidence because it resembles how the colonies used the phrase “No taxation without representation” as to go against the British parliament, and how the colonies stood up for the rights and beliefs of themselves. Because the Colonists stood up for their freedoms and rights, we have the country we have today, not being apart of Great Britain. In conclusion, the Revolutionary war was one of the most important wars that ever took place in American history, because the Colonists stopped paying taxes to Britain, stood up for their freedoms and rights to create a new country that they could govern how they wanted, and had the freedom to live how they pleased. By this America was created. “No taxation without representation” is a very important piece of text evidence that showed the rebellion of the people and how the war really began(spark that ignited). This example of rebellion is similar to many countries around the world who have stood up for their freedoms.
