Persuasive Letter NUR/405 Healthy Communities: Theory and Practice
Township School District Superintendent
Mrs. X, I am writing to you as a perturbed Registered Nurse, engaged in a child and adolescent unit and an acquaintance of your school district. The X township and I share similar interests in educating the importance of nutrition and physical activities among young children. I would be glad to observe the commencement of the implementation of such programs by the school district of the X township. With such similarities, I ensure that you would understand my concerns for the escalating endemic of childhood obesity. From my current research, I find obesity to be recognized as a universal issue by the World Health Organization and the United Nations Health Decade. This issue has influenced the lives of parents and children in a short span of time. As a result, these organizations have designed the Millennium Development Goals for the reduction and prevention of obesity. This mechanism is being practiced extensively in countries like the United States, where the health risks due to obesity are at a higher rate that those caused by malnutrition. As reported by the Center for Disease Control (2011), one out of every three children is found to be obese. Children tend to learn their physical habits, diet habits and lifestyle from elders, which would influence their future health.
