Why China?

As the world demands more energy,

how efficient we use that energy becomes more important.

Nations and people

pursue different political and ide

we share many of

eological objectives, however,

the same concerns about

our energy future.

Addressing global energy challenges such as, national energy security, economic security and global warming have effects that reach beyond the borders of nations.

Will we be able to secure the energy resources we use?

How are we going to achieve a sustainable quality of life?

How will the growing emissions of industrial technologies impact our environment?

One of the ways we are addressing the is by creating

international p

partnerships that share their

knowledge about energy efficiency.

Save Energy Now creates partnerships with large U.S. industrial plants. Knowledge and energy saving technology is shared through web sites, training, and seminars which allows industrial plants to operate more efficiently.

The U.S. Department of Energy created the Save Energy Now (SEN) program two years ago to address our nations rising energy demands in the industrial sector.

The success of this program is now being exported to China.

Chinese industries will benefit by using the SEN methods, already in practice across 415 U.S. industrial plants.

This international partnership was formed between the United States government and the People’s Republic of China.

It will promote energy efficiency and emissions reductions in the top 200 energy-intensive Chinese manufacturing plants.

After the 200 plants have been selcted, the SEN system approach begins with energy audits that will focus on energy-intensive systems by U.S. DOE Energy Experts.

Participants will prepare for the audit by assigning a lead person and assembling a team that will be trained by these experts.

5 days

The Energy Experts will use specially developed software tools, training and other resources to complete an assesment of the plant.

Day One - Overview of audit process - Approach used to assess energy systems - Safety briefing - Demonstration of software tools - Tour of enterprise

Day Two & Three - Data collection on potential energy efficiency opportunities - Enter data into software tool - Quantify energy savings opportunities

Days Four & Five - Develop savings estimates for opportunities identified - Complete software analysis

After this five day energy audit is completed, implementation strategies and best practices are shared with technical staff team and decisions makers of the plant.

The quickest way to save energy, reduce emissions and preserve our environment is to become more energy efficient. Creating international partnerships is a first step towards a sustainable future.

China has become our first partner in addressing these energy demands. We look forward to sharing our knowledge and technology with new partners for new futures.

Save Energy Now is a federal campaign that helps U.S. industries reduce energy use and operate more efficiently by identifying ways to reduce energy use in key industrial process systems.
