INDI Van

THIRD YEAR/ TEAM WORK Tool: Rhino, Vray, Photoshop, illustrator, InDesign

For this Van project, one of our primary design goals was to maintain the “cool factor that teenagers associate with their first car. The second primary intent was to create a universal design. And my role in this team was mainly designing the seat part and generate prototype and visual renderings.

Seat design process SKETCH+MODELING

Independent design

One of our primary design goals was to maintain the “cool factor that teenagers associate with their first car. the second primary intent was to create a universal design. The cool factor was accomplished by implementing stateof-the-art technology and a sleek, modern interior style. there are two main scenarios when designing for a teenager, and particularly one who participates in wheelchair athletics: accommodating wheelchair bound teammates, and also non-disabled passengers. with this in mind, the design needed to maximize both passenger capacity as well as storage space. the dual lift system allows for two wheelchairs in the vehicle and eliminates the need for wheelchair movement once inside. the universal chair design contributes to this goal as well; rather than adding and removing seats to suit the passengers, the seat itself transforms to meet anyone’s needs.

ACADEMIC PROJECT_19

Rear Storage The back end of the vehicle is designed to house up to two wheelchairs. to get the chairs from the ground to the trunk, the vehicle features a two part ramp system that pulls out like drawers and connects to a wench that then pulls it up the ramp. the first step is to open the trunk and press the button deploying the ramp. from there the cable is pulled from the ceiling and connected to the chair. once the chair has been pulled up the ramp, the pulley system slides along a ceiling track to the desired depth in the trunk. in order to fit two chairs, the rear seats are folded down and one chair rests on the backs.

Lifts & Doors The chair and pad system is used both in the driver’s and the passenger’s seats. this allows for wheelchair bound users to drive and ride without having to sit in the back seat. the pads, which fit flush with the floor, move laterally from the vehicle and drop to the ground for users to lock their chairs in place. this adapted entry is particularly made possible by the door system; the traditional front door and sliding side doors are replaced with falcon wing style doors that create maximum loading and unloading space.

Muse

FORTH YEAR/ TEAM WORK Tool: Rhino, Revit, Photoshop, illustrator, InDesign

Muse is a 60,000 square foot art and culture law firm located in Boston, Massachusetts, that strives to protect art for its creators and appreciators. This project is designed with the three main users community, clients and staff in mind.

ACADEMIC PROJECT_ 23

ART & CULTURE LAW Art & Culture Law focuses on many different issues including how works of art should be valued, how to protect intellectual property rights in regards to art, authenticating art, and dealing with stolen art.

BOSTON / ATHENS / MUSE One of Boston’s nicknames is the “Athens of America.” In Ancient Greece, Athens was known to be the cultural and governmental center - a hub of both artists and lawyers. This corresponds with Muse, an art and culture law firm located in Boston. The firm’s name comes from the Muses, who are the Greek goddesses of the arts, and ties back to the connection between Athens and Boston.

FIRM CULTURE The firm culture at Muse is very focused on enhancing both the client and staff experience. Relaxing spaces for collaboration between staff are key to allowing them to feel comfortable while ensuring that they are able to get their work done. The use of different types of art throughout the public spaces show clients that Muse cares deeply about their clients’ work and helps to show their experience and expertise with different mediums and styles of art.

MUSE SIGNATURE The most visible and powerful symbol of our mission is the Muse signature. The signature symbolizes both who we are and what we do. There are three forms:

FULL LOGO: To be used on letterhead and other large scale items Yellow harp, Black text

ICON: Square Logo: To be used in large applications or as stand alone pieces Yellow square background, White harp, Black text

The proposed design solution locates partner and associate offices along the perimeters of the building and the center. The paralegals and legal administrative assistants (LAAs) are located between the offices, and there are a curator and art historian on each floor. There are no corner offices for any staff members in order to promote a sense of equality. These rooms become shared spaces for the staff members rather than allocated to a few select individuals.

together from paper to reality.

PROFESSIONAL PROJECT_31

At the beginning of the designing phase, I was converting a lot of hand drawing and existing model into the visual presentation below. Blend the rendering into the aerial view from google earth was a great suggestion from coworker and definitely showed how this project will play out in reality. Also defined the relationship in between the new student hall to the old campus building.

PROFESSIONAL PROJECT_33

Rendering above provided by CCA, and Picture on the right was taken during my visit. Other than rendering and modeling, during my stay of internship, I was also able to explore materiality and fully create a interior scene to fully help clients visualize the final product.

PROFESSIONAL PROJECT_35

Other renderings of projects I did through out my internship at CCA. Most of them was either past design phase or completed so here is only a showcase of rendering skills.
