THE IMPACT OF LIFE SCIENCE IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
Southern California accounts for more than half of the total life science employment in the state of California at 53%. The region includes Imperial, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Diego, and Ventura counties. The region has employed more than 190,000 individuals and added about 14,000 jobs over the past five years, an 8% increase. There was solid job growth across all subsectors, except Life Science Wholesale Trade. Growth is expected to continue but at a slower rate through 2021.
