Bíó Paradís is Iceland’s first and only art-house cinema, located in the heart of downtown Reykjavík. We screen the latest art-house releases from around the world, as well as cult films and Icelandic films. We provide a warm, cozy environment for film lovers of all kinds – both in our three-screen theater and in our well-stocked bar. We’re a nonprofit organization run by Iceland’s professional filmmaking guilds.

Heimildamyndin fylgir Kitty eftir í daglegu lífi og við vinnu á verkum sínum. Konurnar eru margar í lífi Kittyar, þær veita henni innblástur og verk hennar efla þær og styrkja á ólíkan máta. Útkoman er einstök.

The documentary follows Kitty in her daily life as well as when she works on her episodes and other art. There are many women in Kitty’s life, they inspire her and her projects encourage and strengthen the women who participate in different ways.

The result is extraordinary.

Charlotte Rampling won the Silver Bear for Best Actress and Tom Courtenay won the Silver Bear for Best Actor.

The Bechdel Test 30th anniversary Í tilefni af 30 ára afmæli Bechdel prófsins verður sænska kvik­ mynd­in Something Must Break (Nånting måste gå sönder) sýnd helgina 18.–20. september ásamt fjölda stuttmynda.

Bíó Paradís tekur upp Bechdel prófið í kjölfarið.

The Swedish film Something must Break and a selection of shorts are screened to celebrate the 30 year anniversary of the Bechdel test on the weekend of 18th - 20th of September. Bíó Paradís will A-rate films from that date onwards.

On Black Sundays our special team of experts program old cult classic films that are shown in Bíó Paradís. The program is curated by Hugleikur Dagson the famous cartoonist/comedian, Sjón, renowned author and Sigurjón Kjartansson, one of Iceland’s best known screen­writer/ comedian/ musician.
