Wildcat Tracking in the Carpathian Mountains What: This eco volunteer project will take you to Slovakia’s Carpathian Mountains to observe lynx, wolf and wildcats in action. You will work side by side with local scientists, helping them track and monitor these large carnivores. Trudging through the snow in your snowshoes, you’ll document evidence of their presence and learn techniques such as trapping and telemetry. You may also help to capture and radio collar the animals. All of this is done in an effort to create a sustainable future for these icons of the Carpathian wilderness, and to promote greater understanding of their role in European ecosystems.
