Aclassic Southern homes. is one, decorated by Birmingham Design House, Inc., is not only a breezy getaway in and of itself but also a gracious extension of the living room thanks to the French doors that expand the space for entertaining or close it o for respite when needed. “We wanted the porch to be a continuation of the architecture in the form of a relaxing retreat,” says designer Jessica Prier. “Our goal was to create an elevated design for entertaining while maintaining comfort.” Jessica checked every box thanks to the sleek outdoor furniture covered in a deep green performance velvet. “ e scroll-back sofa adds elegance and drama but is contrasted by the simplicity of the square chairs and co ee table,” the

designer says. “ e modern daybed serves as bench seating when entertaining or as a chaise for a Sunday afternoon nap.” Manufacture Good (formerly Magic City Woodworks) designed the walnut bar for serving afternoon refreshments. Home designer Adam Gerndt created the surrounding patterned wood rail system to add interest. For privacy, Jessica designed custom outdoor drapes. A bubbling fountain and a cooling fan in the vaulted ceiling overhead add a sense of tranquility, while the outdoor rug from Dash & Albert grounds the space.
