Curriculum Vitae

Education

I attended Rossall School, Fleetwood, where I gained nine GCSE’S, three A levels and an International Baccalaureate diploma. During sixth form I discovered a passion for art and design, whilst studying a diverse range of artists. This led to me to continue with the study of graphics in more detail, and so completed and passed the Art and Design foundation course at Blackpool and Fylde College. I also enjoyed the other aspects of the course such as fine art, print and sculpture. During my time at college I started practicing legal street art, focusing on typography and colour, following which, I accepted the offer to study graphic design at the University of Salford, however decided on completion of my first year, that it was not a suitable choice for me. I then took a year out before enrolling at Shillington College, Manchester, on an intensive, full time graphics course. It was here that I explored a more diverse range of design, and studied graphic principles both in theory and practice. While studying at Shillington, I was taught how to produce work to the standards a client would require, using the full Adobe suite. All of the briefs were set to realistic deadlines, and I would typically sign off

at least three projects a week. The briefs set covered the entire spectrum of graphic design such as publishing, layout, typography, basic web design, photo retouching, illustration, branding, advertising, packaging and corporate design. Out of all the disciplines I studied at Shillington college, I really enjoyed publishing land typography. This was displayed in my final project in which I created my own arts and culture magazine concept entitled Prefab, in which I decided to out source all the images and create a typeface that could be used throughout the publication as a brand identity. Since completion of the course I have undertaken freelance work, developing the branding for zionstore.co.uk. This included logo, web and clothing design. While working on this project I familiarised myself with the printing techniques used in the clothing industry and how to manage the direction of a fledgling brand. I have also been given the opportunity to design flyers and posters for the club Distrikt in Leeds. I am now fully prepared and inspired to accept any challenges that the offer of a junior position with a professional design studio would provide.
