Letter from
The Publisher Allow me to introduce myself My name is Sarah Lyons. I have been a professional photographer for ten years under my brand name PictureGroove Photography. I have had quite the whirlwind career as a photographer and I absolutely love what I do and wouldn’t change it for the world!
Publisher:
Leading in to 2018, I had no forethought of becoming a publisher, and taking on another full time job, but honestly, it is in my blood. You will meet the editor-in-chief in upcoming issues, and he is my father. He is a Award-winning journalist from the Seattle Times newspaper, so naturally, writing is a part of who I am.
Editor-in-Chief:
To start, let me thank you for joining me on this amazing journey! The purpose of BodyScape Magazine is to deliver to you, the reader, some of my favorite shoots I have ever done, and tell the stories behind them. I’m sure you can imagine, there are many! We will combine these visual stories with useful information from myself in some articles, and also from some of our contributing writers. We are starting small, but the list of amazing influencers will continue to grow as we do.
Art director & Creative Solutions:
• In each issue we will feature articles from Allison Pynn, who is an industry leader in hair and makeup. She is represented by multiple agencies and has worked with some serious celebrities on film and tv sets as well. Besides that, she is hyper-intelligent, and one of my favorite people. • We will also feature articles from the “Fitnesspreneur” herself, Holly Barker. Holly and I have worked together for years, and she is now recognized and well respected as a fitness entrepreneur, owning multiple businesses, and showing all of us how this world of fitness can work for you. • Sarah Hoey is our resident wellness and fitness influencer, and will be writing about trends in health and wellness, as well as talking with other influencers about how they are growing their businesses in todays day and age. She will also be providing us with some healthy recipes so that we can start our days on the right track! We will also interview at least one model per issue and find out more about them. Some of the stories are totally inspirational, just like with our featured cover girl on this beautiful premier issue Of BodyScape, Jennifer England. Once you read our article.

Many people make resolutions to exercise more and follow a healthy diet at the beginning of the New Year. But we still live hectic and demanding lives. Each of us is living a day-to-day complex schedule of dynamic needs and wants. It is one thing to say that we will be healthy or join a gym; it is another thing to tackle the health issue. This edition of fitness and travel for BODYSCAPE will focus on the business traveller. As Wellness Ambassador and Coach to the Pullman hotel brand by Accor, I have an intimate knowledge of what the business traveler is looking for and what they need. We will be discussing the healthiest cities in the United States, how to pack light for fitness and travel, quick nutrition ideas and how to get the hotel to work for you. Pullman has branded “Bleisure” the concept of enjoying being the professional your are in every way.
The healthiest places The five healthiest cities in America from lowest to highest are Portland OR, Seattle WA, Scottsdale AZ, Salt Lake City, UT, and San Francisco CA. The East Coast gets a shout out at number 9 Washington DC. Source “Today Show Health and Wellness”. A city’s health is determined by whether the population has worked out in the last 30 days. Be honest, Have you worked out in the last 30 days? Health and wellness is not about being in the gym every day. It can be as simple as going for a walk. If you are traveling to one of these cities in the next year, spend some time looking at what makes them healthy. If you plan on visiting, choose a walking trail in the northwest, climb a hill in San Francisco or go for a river stroll in Washington DC. Healthy travel is not meant to be grueling 5 a.m. runs. It’s as easy as taking the time to enjoy where you are. Health and wellness is not a new concept but it is how we frame it to the traveler. Wellness is incorporating a healthy program as part of the stay. It’s about healthy living as a lifestyle choice. Being healthy enhances radiance, ambition, mental and physical rigor and the ability to endure hard work and stress. Be the better version of you, and show up for your travel trips ready. This concept will change how people perceive you and your professionalism. Each of the cities has captured the inner spirit of business, health and travel.

What to bring Hotels are feverishly trying to tap this market from offering shoes to concierge clothing drop offs. The industry is hearing the cry to be fit and not fall off the wagon on our company travel journeys. Here are some successful hints to pack light and prepare for success. Never leave home without shoes but bring a comfy pair for walking. You can do anything in walking shoes from an elliptical, to a quick hike to a quick weight session. Unless you plan on breaking your best time for the mile, you don’t need to bring the best gear. To that end, a quick change to your workout outfit is perfect. Remember, this is not your home gym or your local program. Just decide to simply keep up with your plan and stay on track. Finally, embrace difference. If there are different machines, enjoy the feeling of change. One T-shirt, pants or shorts and walking shoes can make the difference between a successful business trip or stressful travel.
Make the hotel work for you Remember you are the guest. Call ahead and ask about area gyms, studios and outdoor tracks. Have the front desk or concierge call the facility and look at the schedule before you arrive at your destination. The hotel can have your class schedule, transportation to and from and probably a free week’s worth of sessions for the referral. It can be as easy as changing after the meeting and walking out the front door. This is not five-star service. It is local people advising you on their local community and service providers. Preparing in advance will enhance the trip, keep your health and wellness on track, and you might even learn new fitness tips from other places!
12
A simple workout We all know that business traveling is a different bear. There are dinners, drinks, early mornings and long days. None of these help with wellness. When it comes travel, it is essential to plan ahead. Here are some quick tips you can use in your hotel room.
• 100 dips from a chair, bed or bath tub sets of 10, 20 or 25 • 100 lunges alternating right and left leg forward sets of 25 X 4 • 100 pushup in sets of 10, 20 or 25 depending on your level • 100 air squats in sets of 25 • 100 sit-ups again in sets of 10, 20 or 25
Finish with 10 minutes of preferred stretching. This will raise your heart rate, give your body the endorphins it needs for the rest of the night and prepare you mentally for the next round of business.
13
The “new business traveler This is a new version of the business-branded professional. We want healthy options. We want to be have gyms that work. We want time to stay present in our wellness. Hotels know they need to keep the business professional happy, to provide the best facilities, link with the best gyms, or have an in house experience. When choosing a place to stay, look into the culture and environment wherever your travel takes you. Worst case you could end up with a scheduled week of successful business ventures, new class ideas, a pre-scheduled workout plan from the hotel and new people to talk to. The hotel industry is now laser-focused on how to make you feel better when you leave than when you arrived! Take advantage of the new shift in business traveling.

THE NEXT LEVEL Through world-class locations, an expert team and serious attention to detail, the Epic Destination Shoots offers an opportunity for models that you will not find anywhere else. In this feature you will find some of our favorite images from Epic Tulum. We had an amazing beach front villa that was the home base for the models and crew. We shot on the beaches, in cenotes, (caves) and in lagoons! We had a tour guide with us, who took us around to amazing locations, and as you can see, the images are indeed EPIC. Sleep, Heavenly Sleep By Sarah Lyons
BodyScape Publisher Ahhhh sleep. Good, heavy, quality, restful sleep is one of my favorite things. For years I have struggled to get that deep, restful sleep that sets me up for the rest of the day. There are so many key benefits from getting good sleep. Here are 10 reasons why we need quality sleep. (courtesy of www.verywell.com).
1~Sleep Keeps Your Heart Healthy Heart attacks and strokes are more likely to occur early in the morning. It could be due to the way sleep interacts with the blood vessels. Lack of sleep has been associated with worsening of blood pressure and cholesterol, which are risk factors for heart disease and stroke. Your heart will be healthier if you get between 7 and 9 hours of sleep each night.
2~Sleep May Help Prevent Cancer Did you know that people who work the late shift have a higher risk of developing breast and colon cancer?
70
Researchers believe light exposure reduces melatonin levels. Melatonin, a hormone that regulates the sleep-wake cycle, is thought to protect against cancer as it appears to suppress the growth of tumors. Be sure that your bedroom is dark and avoid using electronics before bed in order to help your body produce the melatonin it needs.
3~Sleep Reduces Stress When your body is deprived of sleep, it goes into a state of stress. The body’s functions are put on high alert, which causes high blood pressure and the production of stress hormones. High blood pressure increases your risk for heart attack and stroke, and the stress hormones make it harder to fall asleep.
4~Sleep Reduces Inflammation Increased stress hormones caused by lack of sleep raises the level of inflammation in your body. This creates a greater risk for heart-related conditions, as well as cancer and diabetes. Inflammation is thought to cause the body to deteriorate as we age.
5~Sleep Makes You More Alert A good night’s sleep makes you feel energized and alert the next day. Being engaged and active not only feels great but increases your chances for another good night’s sleep. When you wake up feeling refreshed, you have more energy to conquer the world, which tires your mind and body and promotes a good night’s sleep the next night. Win/ win!
6~Sleep Improves Your Memory Researchers do not fully understand why we sleep and dream, but they have found that sleep plays an important role in a process called memory consolidation. During sleep, your body may be resting, but your brain is busy processing your day, making connections between events, sensory input, feelings and memories. Deep sleep is a very important time for your brain to make memories and links, and getting more quality sleep will help you remember and process things better.
7~Sleep May Help You Lose Weight Researchers have found that people who sleep fewer than 7 hours a night are more likely to be overweight or obese. It is thought that a lack of sleep impacts the balance of hormones in the body that affect appetite. The hormones ghrelin and leptin, which regulate appetite, have been found to be disrupted by lack of sleep. If you want to maintain or lose weight, don’t forget that getting adequate sleep on a regular basis is a huge part of the equation.
8~Napping Makes You “Smarter” Nighttime isn’t the only time to catch z’s. Napping during the day is an effective, refreshing alternative to
71
caffeine that is good for your overall health and can make you more productive. A study of 24,000 Greek adults showed that people who napped several times a week had a lower risk of dying from heart disease. People who nap at work show much lower levels of stress. Napping also improves memory, cognitive function and mood.
9~Sleep May Reduce Your Risk of Depression Sleep impacts many of the chemicals in your body, including serotonin. People with serotonin deficiencies are more likely to suffer from depression. You can help to prevent depression by making sure you are getting the right amount of sleep: between 7 and 9 hours each night.
10~Sleep Helps the Body Repair Itself Sleep is a time to relax, but it’s also a time during which the body is hard at work repairing damage caused by stress, ultraviolet rays, and other harmful exposure. Your cells produce more protein while you are sleeping. These protein molecules form the building blocks for cells, allowing them to repair the damage. Amazing what sleep does for us! In today’s busy world, where we live with screens constantly in our faces. Our minds are always going and going and going. It’s no wonder that a lot of people don’t get the sleep they need. Stress, life, relationships, work, are part of our existence; yet they’re also responsible for why we don’t sleep the way we should. So, how do we get the sleep we need? It’s a complex question, and the answer is based on my own personal experience, and if you have suffered like me, I hope this helps you. As a busy, self-employed photographer, I’m sure you can imagine the layers and layers of things to do that go into my job. Planning, scheduling, shooting, communicating, editing, submitting is exhausting at times. One thing I have learned to do is to TURN OFF THE SCREEN. Yes. I know, call me crazy, but social media, work and even the TV should go bye bye at least two to three hours before you go to bed. No visual distraction allows the mind to get off of what you have been doing all day, and get into a more relaxed state. Next, is to find some relaxation techniques that you don’t have to force. Number one for me is working out. Working out helps to release endorphins in the body, which can cause stress. Getting a good sweat session is healthy for the mind and soul, and undoubtedly, good for the body too. Plus, it helps keep us looking great! (Yoga is also a great stress reliever, as it helps to “untie” us, with beneficial stretching, and internal stress release that is great for your organs, and releasing toxins from the body).
72
Get in the hot tub or the steam room. For me, this goes hand-in-hand when working out. I try my best, each time I work out, to follow it up with a visit to the steam room or hot tub. For me, the benefits are huge! The steam room really helps to relax the body and mind..especially the body after a hard workout. The hot tub is equally beneficial, it’s like taking a bath and getting a massage at the same time, helping to relax the body. Taking a hot bath with lavender essential oils before bed is a great way to wind down the day. Play some soft jazz, light some candles and practice deep breathing techniques in the tub before you go to bed. You will be amazed at what deep breathing through your belly does for your mind and soul. It clears my mind and puts me in a relaxed state. Getting regular massages is key in my life. Being a photographer requires me to be in some weird positions that are not natural. I usually wind up with one leg socket up in my hip somewhere, my shoulders up Four inches too high, the list goes on! For me in particular, my body being in a “normal” physical state is huge for being able to relax. Otherwise, I am walking around off-kilter most of the time. I have become a serious fan of the Yogi Tea line. Yes, I have a preference. The Yogi Tea Honey Lavender Stress Relief Tea and Bedtime Tea are my favorites. When I have a cup of tea, it tells me that it’ s time to put the day away. I have also been known to have a cup or two of the Stress Relief tea in the middle of the day if I have a heavy workload. It doesn’t mean I am stressed, but I do like it’s ability to calm my nerves if I’m feeling overwhelmed. Take 15 seconds and DO NOTHING. Sit still, and let your mind clear. It’s important that you don’t think. This takes practice! Once you can get there, take big deep breaths through your nose from your belly, not your chest. Exhale through your mouth. Try it out for 15 seconds to start, and see how you feel. Add a bit more time on each time you do this, and you will be surprised at the difference in how you feel. This may come as a surprise, but I am not a fan of melatonin or Ambien. Both put me into a very weird state. I dream weird things and wake up with nightmares, and, it’s just not a good answer for me. I have, however, found a drink called NeuroSleep. I don’t suggest drinking it every night. I drank it three nights in a row, and the fourth morning, I woke up in a serious neuro-fog, and it took me the day to come out of it. This drink does have some great amino acids in it, as well as a bit of melatonin, so it doesn’t make my sleep weird. I got it at Target in the refrigerated section. My last tip is CBD oil. I have recently started taking CBD oil and the benefits are amazing. One benefit to me in particular was that my hands were starting to hurt. It felt like I had some pre-arthritic stuff going on, and once I started taking the CBD oil, the pain in my hands was gone. Here are some benefits of CBD oil: Anti-psychotic, antidepressant, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, anti-diabetic, anti-nausea, anti-acne, bone stimulant, and analgesic. It also helps your serotonin levels, so you can get more restful sleep. This stuff is good for you! It is great to consume on a daily basis, and I like to take mine with my multi-vitamin each day. I get mine at www.primemybody.com I’d like to reiterate, that the information in this article is based on my experiences only. Everyone is different, so what I have listed here may or may not work for you. I hope that I have shed some light on the importance of getting a good night’s rest, and if you have any sleep tips of your own, please email them to us at info@BodyScapeMagazine.com

Beauty in the Skye... By Sarah Lyons BodyScape Publisher Every now and then, people come in to your life who are never forgotten. There is something special about them, the Universe just lays it out to you, point blank, that THIS person will bring you great joy, and your friendship will be eternal. Case in point with Skye Clark. Skye “friended” me on Facebook when I first joined back in 2009. We joke about it today, how we were each other’s “first 50”. As i started posting more and more of my work, Skye took notice, and we were finally able to set up a shoot. From the very first day we met, I knew there was something special about Skye. I LOVED her strong physique, her wonderful attitude and take on life. When you grow up in a tiny town like Skye has, you see the world differently. She is a precious gem, and four shoots later, we created these masterpieces in Nelson, Nevada. I hope to create many more masterpieces with this good friend of mine.

76
How did it all start? I was born and raised on a ranch in Smoot, Wyoming. My parents were outfitters, so I grew up hunting. My mom was a cook on wilderness pack trips. She took me with her 40 miles into the mountains for the summers when I was six weeks old. I am the oldest of five siblings, and dad worked me and treated me like a boy ( I am eternally grateful for that). Because of being raised like this, I walked into the weight room as a high school sophomore. After a week of learning the proper technique, I broke all the records which I still hold to this day. I became certified as a trainer and nutritionist in 2003 and have always trained clients online. I ranch full time and run my online coaching business No Rules Diet on the side.
What are some of your special skills? I used to draw a bit in high school, and many people told me to go pro, but it was just a hobby. I don’t have any special skills really. I have a tenacious work ethic, and am able to work hard. I don’t know how to quit. I’m willing to do the jobs that most people would avoid. It’s gotten me to where I am today. I am also a hobby photographer, and have landed several magazine covers and have had my work featured in several online and print publications. I am completely self taught, and just enjoy it. Many people tell me I have a great eye.
How do you feel about being featured in BodyScape Magazine? I am beyond honored and so humbled that Sarah even thought of me! I’m not a competitor or model, just a small town ranch girl who did a couple of photo shoots for fun. So being featured in Sarah’s magazine has me thrilled beyond words! I truly am so humbled and honored!
You connected with Sarah Lyons of PictureGroove for some shoots prior, and leading up to this one. How did that come about? When Facebook first came out, I think I “friended” Sarah as one of my first 50 friends. I was in awe with her work from day one. I love her unique poses, colors and flare that pops out from her images. I emailed her, and after a few years, we were finally able to get a photoshoot done! I think I have done four shoots with her now!
What was the highlight of your shoot? EVERYTHING! But especially working with Sarah! She is a genuinely nice and honest person! She’s very professional but laid back and so fun to work with. She always has the best crew for hair and makeup and she is dynamite when it comes to helping with outfit selection, poses and everything that goes into a successful photoshoot. This shoot was my favorite! I’ve always had a boho/gypsy soul and wanted to do a shoot that portrayed that. She even bought me my first ever cup of coffee from Starbucks! Living in small-town Wyoming, we don’t have those.
77
Name a few things people would not know about you I was teased horribly in school for my freckles and lifestyle. I became a hermit and was extremely shy. I was a complete recluse for many years. I constantly work on those head games and battles, and it’s a struggle to do photoshoots and work with people, but I’m getting better. I have fed elk where I had to snowmachine in 35 miles and feed with a team of work horses and load hay by hand. I have started colts and ridden a couple broncs in rodeos, built hay sheds and packed gear and groceries on horses for hunting camps. I am definitely not afraid to try anything, and I live to be outdoors working in the mountains and with animals. I don’t believe we have to be “just one thing.” I want to do it all. Life is short and I plan on living it wide open.
If you could change anything in your life, what would it be? NOTHING! I am the luckiest girl on earth. I am completely self employed, I get to be outside in the mountains and with my animals 95 percent of the time, I live in one of the prettiest places on earth, I am debt free and I get to help others live a happier, healthier and higher quality life.
Who are your favorite bands, actors, and what are your favorite books? I love most all music. It just depends on my mood. But I probably listen to the Turnpike Trubadors, Reckless Kelly, Fleetwood Mac and 70’s country stations on Pandora the most. I’m not big into movies or TV, but there is a lot of great talent out there. Tom Hanks, Clint Eastwood, Tommy Lee Jones, Paul Giamatti, Matt Damon, Frances McDormand to name a few. I don’t read many books, but everyone should read The White Indian Boy and Wolf Man.
What advice can you give to anyone contemplating doing a photo shoot? Practice, practice, practice posing in front of a mirror! Relax, listen to Sarah and have fun. Be yourself! It will come through in the images.
Some favorite quotes? “Opportunity is missed by most because it’s dressed in coveralls and looks like work” — Thomas Edison “Life is way too short to leave your key to happiness in someone else’s pocket” — Unknown

Beauty Tips from the Pros! Allison Pynn MAKEUP * HAIR STYLING * BODYPAINTING Celebrity makeup & hair artist ALLISON PYNN is an expert in the makeup industry. We at BodyScape Magazine are fortunate to have her as our Beauty expert! Look for tips from Allison in each issue.
A Fab face in 5 Minutes!
By Allison Pynn (www.makeupaz.com)
Something I’ve heard consistently from women wanting to look “put together” is, “I don’t have time to do my makeup”. Let’s face it, we have time for everything we MAKE time for, but that aside it inspired me to put together the Fab Face in 5 minutes! This really can be done in 5 minutes and the secret is using cream products that work double-duty. Creams blend easily into the skin (so you can apply with your fingers and skip fussing with brushes) and double-duty products mean you get multiple uses out of 1 product = super time savers!
1. Sunscreen- No matter what sunscreen should be your #1 makeup product! We all know it protects against skin
damaging sun rays, but if you use a tinted sunscreen then you’ve got coverage too! If you’ve got dark undereye circles or acne just spot-treat with a dab of concealer where needed. 2. Cream Eyeshadow- YES you have time for eyeshadow! So many makeup lines have cream eyeshadows
that are fast and a cinch to use. My favorite are eyeshadow sticks! Run a cream stick along your lash line for a quick eyeliner effect or apply across your entire lid and smooth around with your ring finger. This is a fast pop of eye color (and if you use a longwear eyeshadow it’ll last all day)! Favorite cream eyeshadow
3. Mascara- Apply 1-2 coats of mascara to your lashes. Favorite mascaras
4. Blush- Nothing quickly wakes up a face and adds a youthful glow like blush! Work a cream blush onto the apples of your cheeks (smooth around in a circular motion with the pads of your fingers for the best blending). Now take that same blush and dab a bit on your lips = pop! Favorite cream blushes - Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge for Lips and Cheeks - La Prairie Cellular Radiance Cream Blush In these quick steps, you’ve accentuated every part of your face, you’re glowing and out the door!

BodyScape Cover Model Jennifer England
By Sarah Lyons BodyScape Publisher BodyScape Magazine is excited to have the stunning Jennifer England as our cover girl for the first issue. This bad-ass sweetheart is at the top of her game with a multi-faceted career. She is a stunt artist, obviously a stunning model, and one of the nicest people I have ever met. Meet our cover girl, Jennifer England.
Jen, tell us how it all started: I started modeling when I was 18 yrs old in my home town of Lansing, Michigan. I was lucky enough to be so busy that I was home less than a week a month. That’s when I knew it was time to make the move to California. Well, that and the sunshine! I kind of “fell” into the stunt world when I booked an Xbox commercial which called for an actress that could kick box. That’s where I met Ben Bray, who booked me and helped me sharpen my fighting skills. He also played a huge roll in pulling me into some huge projects, I wouldn’t have had the success I’ve had without him, and I definitely wouldn’t have had the 20+ year career without everyone that believed in me including my family and friends.

What does it mean to be on the first cover of BodyScape magazine? It’s an honor to be on the cover and featured in BodyScape, let alone the first cover! I’ve been a fan of Sarah’s photography work for years! We reconnected for this shoot when she came to LA and I had no idea that I was going to have the opportunity to be on the cover and also featured In the magazine. She’s one of the best in the business and I’m happy that she chose me to be on the cover.
What was the highlight of the shoot? The highlight of my shoot was seeing and working with Sarah again and meeting other amazing, wonderful women that were on set too.
What are a few things that people don’t know about you? I’d rather go to a sports/music event than to be wined and dined, and I know more about sports than I do clothing, makeup and being a model. And hands down… I would rather be in sweats than heels.
Would you change anything in your life? I wouldn’t change a thing. I am who I am today because of everything I’ve gone through… I’m perfectly, imperfect. Do you have a favorite type of music? Favorite actors? favorite books? ~I don’t have a favorite type of music, but I love music more than anything. I’m open-minded and what I listen to just depends on my mood. I believe music is like our eyes, a window to our souls. Depending on what it is you listen to, it can take you anywhere.
~Favorite actors: Those that respect the business and are humble even after their stardom. ~Favorite books: You are a Badass at Making Money and The Four Agreements. What sort of advice would you give to those contemplating a photo shoot? My advice I would give to anyone booking a photo shoot would be to practice their poses in the mirror, get some advice from a seasoned model and listen to your photographer. Their words are not criticizing but trying to help you get your best shots.Let your ego go and just listen.
Favorite quotes:
“Treat others as you would like to be treated.” “Never look down on anyone unless you’re helping them up.”

By Holly Barker, “The FitnessPreneur” That’s a big NO! When it comes to business and fitness do you think of them as two separate things? You love this stuff, so you should do it and make money!” So, the idea of living your passion begins. There are many ways to do this. You are turning your passion into a business. Ask and listen You may think you know, but you may have no idea! What people perceive your value to be may be different from what you perceive it to be. Asking your audience, your future customers, your avatars, what they are looking for will yield invaluable information. What do they truly want? What don’t they get from their current provider?
Check your ego This is the part where many fail. Not every idea is going to be a hit right off the bat. This is where you learn lessons about yourself, what works, what doesn’t. We grow, we pivot and we educate our audience. We have to sell what we think is valuable.
Create your avatar Who are you trying to target? Is it Sally? Or is it Joe? Or is it Jr? A product needs a defined audience. How do they dress, where do they shop, are they right or left handed, what flowers do they like? Create this avatar and then figure out how your passion, your fitness, your business can help them with their fitness goals.
Consistency beats frequency Create your plan and consistently follow through, just like you do with your own training. Any idea will succeed if you are persistent, tenacious and resilient and most of all consistent. Nothing hinders your reputation more than starting off with a bang, then fading out. Consistently stand behind what you are sharing with this world and the right ears and eyes will follow.
Don’t focus on the money. Focus on the value Give them value, then give them more value. Show your avatar that you are the expert in what you are offering and the money will follow.
Build your tribe – Say NO to speculation! Never speak poorly of another business trying to do what you are doing. Do not contribute to speculation. Educate yourself and help inspire others to follow. Negative vibes do not attract a tribe. So there you have it! A bit of a start and a lot to grow from! I’m so excited to help you seamlessly live your business of fitness and your fitness of business for a lifetime of adventure and success.

Ken Kiefer’s story I’ve been around and in the water pretty much my entire life. I grew up surfing and swimming and progressed to lifeguarding and teaching scuba diving. I had always been interested in photography. But the challenge to show the beauty of the underwater world is why I’m driven to improve every aspect of it. After years of honing my skills, I progressed to the point that Ikelite, One of the premiere and most well-known underwater housing manufacturers in the world, wanted to partner with me. This spurred my desire to focus exclusively on underwater imaging. From the wild world of sharks and crocodiles to the gentle beauty of mermaid maternity, my goal is always to bring the creative visions from my mind to fruition in the form of eye-catching imagery.
Challenges I’ve had to overcome Very few worthwhile things in life are without challenges. There are a struggles and obstacles to overcome. Good photography can be tough. But when you take it underwater, the difficulty is magnified. Equipment issues, Mother Nature, clarity, movement and lighting are some of the variables that must be managed. The technical nature of photography is definitely amplified when you take it underwater. I’m very lucky that my wife Kimber is my partner and assistant. Through hard work and dedication, she has progressed from looking like a drowning victim to an elegant underwater model. She is great at helping clients prepare clients for their photoshoots. She’s an invaluable asset. Adapting to changing conditions is a constant reality with this type of work. Being able to work through adverse weather and bringing redundant equipment are just two of the things that come from experience. Some of the best images we’ve created came during almost hurricane conditions.
About Ken Kiefer Underwater Photography We specialize in anything underwater: Maternity / Seniors / Engagements / Trash the Dress / Swim Team / Modeling / Fashion / Sports / Wildlife / Bridal / Cosplay. You name it, we’ll try it underwater. Nothing makes me prouder than when clients express joy and amazement at the images we created as a team! We are committed to perfection and I’m unwilling to just get pictures; I am not satisfied until we get THE SHOT. I’ve taken several hundred pictures to get an image just right. This is not just a job for me, it’s my life and passion. I put everything I have into making the best images possible. Many people have told me that they were able to recognize one of my images immediately upon viewing it, and I love hearing that. It’s important to stand out and be distinctive with art. Style and dedication are cornerstones to our work.

We are looking forward to working with our sponsors, Ikelite Underwater Imaging and Sherwood Scuba. They promote conservation and protection for our underwater environment. One of my favorite childhood memories was going to the library. Coming home with a giant stack of books was always a highlight. I can still feel the joy of being able to explore new worlds and soak up new information. I was always drawn to sharks as a child. I was taught to fear them. I had seen the movie Jaws and I was terrified! But, the more I learned about them through reading and watching documentaries, the more that I became fascinated with them. Sharks are completely different from the man-eating monsters you see on most television shows. They demand respect, as does any top predator, but they are incredible creatures that deserve our admiration, not our fear. Swimming and photographing sharks is one of the most amazing experiences of my life.
