Dear Alumni and Friends, As our 60th anniversary year comes to a close, we reflect on what an incredible year it has been. Here at Bishop Gorman we are very proud of our students. You can’t help but feel proud to be a Gaelwith five State Championship titles (three of those teams ranked top in the nation) (page 4-5), forty-six legacy students in the graduating class of 2015 (page 6-7), and three alumni teachers celebrating their 25 years of service and dedication. While our students succeed in the classroom, on the field and in their extra-curricular activities, Bishop Gorman stands apart from the rest for a reason beyond our academic offerings, athletic program and technological advances. For me, one of the best things about being a Gael, is that it is more than just a school - it is a tradition and a legacy in my family. My parents, Richard Gomez ’73 and Julie (Womack) ’75, were high school sweethearts at Bishop Gorman. I graduated with the Class of 1997, and my son, Brandon ’18, is currently a sophomore. Bishop Gorman is a part of who we are with three generations of Gaels in our family. Whether you have a family tree of Gaels or not, there is a bond that connects all of us who are a part of this community and that’s what makes up the Bishop Gorman legacy. I hope that you, our friends and alumni, share in the excitement and pride that comes with being associated with Bishop Gorman High School’s legacy of tradition and excellence. We are so excited for the year ahead. Continuing the legacy this upcoming school year, we have 72 incoming freshman in the Class of 2019 with alumni parents! Make sure you save the date for all of the activities scheduled for this fall (page 11). Get in touch with your class reps and get involved! Whether it is attending or volunteering at an event, serving on a committee, making a gift, coming to a game or mentoring our students, we want everyone to feel the strong sense of camaraderie that makes Bishop Gorman such a special place. I hope you enjoy the rest of your summer and I look forward to seeing you around soon!

Alumn Spotlight: Jimmy Cashman '92 If it wasn't for Gorman, I wouldn't be here. Literally. My parents, MaryKaye (Collins) Cashman ’69 and James Cashman ’67, met at Bishop Gorman and were high school sweethearts. So thanks, Gorman. I'm having a pretty good time being alive! In fact, I'm pretty sure that every aunt, uncle, sibling, and cousin that I have went to Gorman. And if they didn't, we must have disowned them and forgotten about them entirely. Blue and Orange run deep in the Cashman Family.

What have you been up to since BGHS? After Gorman, I attended

Occidental College in LA and earned my BA in Theatre in 1996. I moved to Hollywood and started performing in and producing plays, while taking improv classes at The Groundlings Theatre, one of the most respected improvisation and sketch comedy theatres in the country. Will Ferrell, Lisa Kudrow, Maya Rudolph, Kathy Griffin, and Melissa McCarthy all got their start as Groundlings.

Where have we seen your work? If you were in San Francisco in 2006, you may have seen my wife and I performing in the 1st national tour of the Broadway musical “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee”. On TV, I have been a guest writer for several episodes of “Saturday Night Live" which led to other writing work on "The Looney Tunes Show" for The Cartoon Network, and the sitcom "Benched" on USA Network. But most likely you may have seen me as Flo's fellow Superstore employee, Jamie, in the Progressive Insurance commercials. Most recently in 2015, I filmed a role in the film “Michelle Darnell” starring Melissa McCarthy which is due to be released in the Spring of 2016.

What has been the most significant step in your career?

Becoming a Groundling has been the most significant step in my career. All of my best jobs have come directly from the work I've done there and the relationships I've forged with the other Groundlings.

Trivia:

Bishop Gorman High School can claim TWO Groundlings among their Alumni. Jim Cashman and Jillian Bell '02. Being that there have only been a couple hundred Groundlings over the last 40 years, BGHS might be the only school in the country that can claim that.

Tell us about your personal life: In 2003, I married Michelle Noh, who I had met doing theatre in 1995. We have two beautiful daughters, Sylvie, born in 2011, and Clover, born in 2013. 10

his year’s Annual Wine Tasting event, Passport, took Bishop Gorman families, alumni & friends to the islands! The event was held at Cherry Nightclub at the Red Rock Resort, where guests enjoyed delicious drinks, tasty food, great entertainment and of course, some delicious wines! The new indoor/outdoor venue was a great atmosphere for the evening! Our emcee, Bryan Chan, guided us through the night which began with performances by Polynesian group, Tevakanui. The entertainment continued thanks to Missy Cochran Entertainment, owned by alumn Missy Cochran '86, with a DJ, percussionist and steel drum player combo while attendees sipped on all the best that Wirtz Beverage had to offer.

The night was a huge success and we could not have done it without our gracious performers, sponsors, volunteers and YOU! Special thanks to all of our auction donors, Red Rock Casino Resort Spa, Wirtz Beverage of Nevada, the Paul Thomas Family, Missy Cochran Entertainment, AllSource Apparel, LV Photo, Encore Productions, Lifetouch, and CREAM! Can’t wait to see where Passport 2016 will take us next!

Along with the nineteen wines, seven beers and a specialty cocktail, "Pineapple in Paradise", there was a wide variety of island-inspired bites to enjoy! Over 70 amazing auction items were bid on throughout the week and at the event with our “text-in” silent auction raising money for our Tuition Assistance Program.
