An Incoming Freshman’s Guide to Bishop Gorman High School
e m o c l e Freshman Class of 2023! W
July 2019
On behalf of the administration, faculty and staff, I want to again welcome you and your family to the Bishop Gorman High School community! Over the past year, I have had the pleasure of meeting you and your families on school tours, visits to your respective schools, Shadow Days and Bishop Gorman Open House. When you return to campus in August, you will be writing a new, life-changing chapter in your life and we are so excited you chose to have that adventure with us. While our Admissions Office has been happy to guide you and your families along the way, you will find additional resources at your fingertips, now that you are officially a Bishop Gorman Gael. Below are just a few offices and phone numbers that you may find helpful to answer your specific questions as you begin the school year. Remember that our Bishop Gorman website is also a helpful tool that always has additional answers and helpful tidbits not included in this publication. I wish you the best of luck as you make the transition from middle school to high school and I look forward to seeing the positive impact you’ll have on our campus.

From the Desk of
Dean Maguinness Welcome, Class of 2023, to the Bishop Gorman Family! My name is Dean Maguinness, and I will be your Dean for the next four years. I look forward to meeting all of you at Freshman Orientation on August 8-9. Classes begin on August 12 for all students, so orientation gives you a chance to meet your teachers before everyone else arrives. The transition to freshman year marks a time in your life where you will experience great growth. As you prepare to enter high school, I want you to begin to picture the life you wish to lead. You will find success if you approach the next four years with grit, perseverance, and compassion. I am here to help you reach your goals and serve as an advisor, so please do not hesitate to reach out if you find yourself in need. More than half of you signed up for Summer Enrichment classes which have helped you get accustomed to the work required, learn your way around campus, and meet members of your class. ALL incoming students, please remember that summer work is posted on the school website. In addition to the summer work, your textbooks and required materials are also posted to the school website. You will receive a copy of the Student Handbook by the end of the summer. It is imperative that you read through the Handbook and become familiar with the rules we have for attendance and dress code at Bishop Gorman High School. Savor these last weeks of summer! We will meet each other shortly, and I look forward to getting to know you. If you have any questions or concerns, you can reach me by email this summer. Once again, welcome to the family!
